That would be such a mainline SMT thing to do: whichever protagonist you choose, the other protagonist appears in the story as the bullied and Lahmu-possessed student

@@SMTenacity the sexists within Atlus won't allow that. They even basically admitted they want main series SMT to only have male MCs, they see females as weak and the sexists and fragile male ego would feel threatened by a female lead. Soul Hackers 2 is only getting Female MC, because the two in charge of that project have seniority and is SH no longer seen as a SMT brand series. When companies like Pokemon's and Fire Emblem Three Houses's are compared to Atlus, Atlus looks very sexist with much of their games. if this was made by Game Freak or Bethesda, you can be sure there would be both Male MC and Female MC options with the story and gameplay adapted to both, even race options.
@@fivefive9514 Only the first Debisama game did, the rest drop it and only retain the "Devil Summoner" in the title. Both Raidou games had the "SMT" tacked on in the west, in Japan they only retain the "Devil Summoner". None of those games have "SMT" in Japan.
What Soul Hackers 2 did do, is drop the "Devil Summoner" altogether, establishing this solely as a Soul Hackers property.

It is the norm. I geuss sometimes maybe it's redoing all the lines or maybe it's making an entirely new character model or changing some demon interactions based on it but what I think is that it's like it's giving you a character and you have to build off from that instead of making one from the ground up. I don't want to be murdered for this but it's like in persona. In persona 5 Akira had a character. He wasn't some totally emotionless expressionless empty vessel for us to pilot. Atleast that's how I see it. I see stuff like smtV as a similar case.

Kinda surprised SMT still doesn't have a female protagonist. The fact that your MC in Soul Hackers II is going to be female will be a bigger stepping stone for this franchise than it realizes.
I've never quite understood that. To me a protagonist is a protagonist. I mean Ringo looks awsome and she looks like a great protagonist so dar I'm just not entirely sure why it's seen as a stepping stone. I was kind of hoping someone could explain it to me if that's alright because I feel like I'm out of the loop on this one
It's because out the entire Megaten franchise (idk about Demikids however) Ringo is the 3rd female protagonist. Even then, she is the only one of the three that is not optional. There is no male version to choose from in SH2. Also, she isn't a silent protagonist as an added bonus.
@BitterOrange yeah I can understand that just being what people would prefer. I geuss I just don't get why it seems like such a cause for celebration but hey that's just me. Although I've never really seen anyone complain about having to play as a lady. Also that brings up another question. I've seen people complain about silent protagonists. Again I've never really had a problem with silent protagonists so I don't really get why that is.
I mean, persona 3 is technically an smt game, which makes persona 3 portable an smt game too and in p3p you can play as a woman so

Honestly a direct sequal where you get to play as Amaterasu Nahobino would be fucking insane; like all those glaring plot hole were done on purpose to leave room.for an expansion that could stand alone, with subtle allusion to the events of SMT V
I mean like there is talks of something smt V related from the leaks along with some sort of Netflix game so it's not out of the question

Yesss I like the concept and hopefully in future installments of either smt or persona we get more girl protagonist. We had three so far in persona 1, 2 and 3 fes so let’s make it 5 by 2024.

With such an androgynous look- It's kinda weird that they couldn't've popped a female VO on him and say you could play as either.
However, I guess there's gotta be a story reason- because if I'm right, this is a fusion of two men. So even if there was a female alt, they'd change from him to they.
demons of the same sex can fusion and become a being of the opposite sex (this is true in all megaten games with fusion). anything is possible even with humans. thing is, conservative Atlus is too cowardly and sexist to explore possibilities beyond what they care to see. that's why this series with its infinite possibilities doesnt even feature option/route for MC to fusion theirself with any demon. SMT1 Chaos hero proven it can be done, though due to technical limitations they didn't develop a different form for fusing with different demons, thats why SMT 1 hero demon form is the same no matter who he used with but realistically, he could of just as likely become a female demon and different types and forms of demon since there's a vast variety of demons to fuse with. if even Dragonball has ways for even humans to fusion, SMT has more possibilities and capabilities the series have yet to explore and feature
@BitterOrange Japanese officials have actually apologized for war crimes in WWII several times. The only grounded issue is degree and formality of apologies, and how other statements or actions of the Japanese government contradict those apologies.
