Hi, thanks to this vid I fixed it. Different to you though, I didn't fully remove all the panels. I just removed enough to gain access. Also I removed, inspected and cleaned the pump and motor, dried with hair dryer, then reassembled with a water sealant on all pipe joints. Did the trick on a 200k miler. Just a tip for anyone though, don't waste time testing the motor operation with the bonnet open as it has to be shut for operation! Found out the long way!!! Thanks again and good video. 🙂
MK2 washer pump took me 45 seconds to replace, using one flat head screwdriver and a lighter to heat up the hose to make it pliable in -10C weather. This B6 Passat DIY would take me 1.5 hours with common hand tools. Horrible pump placement & Thomas makes it look easy! Two thumbs up !!
I was going to comment on the ease at which you diagnosed the issue or the how easy you make things look but the ending just cracked me up so that's all I can remember now.
Thanks man. I just drove up to cypress a couple of weeks ago with the cold and all of a sudden I got low wiper fluid. Refilled when I got back to kits. Full bottle refill at the gas station. Drive back up again a few days later and then I got it again. I wasn't sure how to attack it. I've seen your other vids on Passat b6 and it helped. Your vid coverage on this couldn't be any more timely. Thanks!
Thank you so much, worked like a charm! Super quick and easy to do even for someone like me with close to zero experience with cars. You just saved me 170€ :)
My dealer shop has fixed this leak for 4 times already and it keeps coming back. Once it lasted a couple of weeks but mostly it begins leaking again in few days. I might just take a look there myself as repair bills for this supposedly minor issue can be counted in hundreds of euros already.
As cars get older, different parts of the system can leak. The bottles can leak along the seam, the pumps will eventually separate and leak, the grommets (including level sensor), the valves (as in this video). It could be that each time it's a new / different leak... but I understand your frustration. You should have no problem checking things yourself. Lift & support the vehicle safely and have a look at what you can spot.
I'm losing 3/4 of the fluid in the bi-xenon tank. Later it does not diminish but the reserve is very small liquid. And quite quickly starts to squeak the signal and the control from the fluid to the windows lights up. I'm guessing it's a gasket between the tanks. I am looking for such an event as to go about it. At the thought of pulling out both tanks already ... beautiful ...
I gotta hamburger and ketchup on vids as we've been in Chicken on the car the car won't go that's how ya spell Chicago. My daughter had our eighth grandchild and we went to help out. We made the Thanksgiving dinner. Good video Brother I watched this won first as it is short. Talk to ya soon. Happy motoring.
Thanks. While I was out that way I stopped and saw WallysPlace66. We had a great time. Now on two2 the ketching up. Or is it Mustarding up. Ahh they'll both work.
The camera(s) are oversensitive to extra light... would have probably been ok without the light. Problem is I don't know when I don't need it... so I end up using it more than I need to. Maybe I'll try a couple vids without it, just to get a baseline.
Yeah I'm pretty sure thats some partial overexposure and saturation , pretty common for most digital camera footage when white and UV light (not just LEDs, HID 5000K+ too) makes everything look blue in the footage, at least the exposed area.
I had this problem b6 passat estate, washer fluid would empty from full to empty in a day...about 2 or 3 weeks this happened and then all of a sudden it just stopped? Wtf is that about...very weird
In this case, it was the pump (I think that was made clear in the video)... sometimes it's the grommet in the bottle (I think that was made clear in the video)... when replacing the pump, it's best to replace the grommet as well (can't remember if that was made clear in the video). If the leak is not coming from the pump, could be bottle, level sensor, or one of the grommets.
Just the facts. Must be a typical problem. Looks like the reservoir was completely full. Kinda like when ya gotta drop a gas tank and they fill it up Wright write rite right beefour4 they bring it two2 ya.
If anyone has any idea about the plumbing of the wiper fluid I'd appreciate some advice. When I use my wiper fluid it runs down my foot rest (over the relays too, so it's coming from way above) and I can't figure out where it's coming from.
Year, make, model? Windshield / seal leak or some kind of gasket / cover leak under the windshield in the plenum area... but can't be sure since I don't know year, make, model.
It's been 6 years since I uploaded this video and you are the first person to cry about it. I suggest you check your screen brightness settings... or get your eyes checked.
@sgt.miningdrill2680 the original comment doesn't make sense. I watched the video. Yes it's bright, but not blinding. If you had worded it differently, we could be laughing about it.
I have subscribers who are deaf... they don't have a problem with lack of voice. If you have eyes... you should be able to follow along with what I'm doing... even when some things are not visible. A bit of common sense goes a long way.

Nice work in getting the pump taking care of...
Another easy one.

@@EXOVCDS Thanks mate! Makes sense. I'm pretty happy with the repairs done in that shop overall.
Dang, no "if you can get someone else to do it......." at the end. Nice fix!
Easier pump to get at than some of the others... those I let my coworker do! LOL

Yes, you might have to remove a bunch of stuff to gain access.. but the leak should be easy to spot at that point.

Many thanks for the video, it got me out of a spot with the wife's car.
Thank you for watching!
And for bodgers: Silicone sealent untill the week end lol.
You missed out "Need a pee" as a thumbs up :)
Not familiar with that expression... might use it in the future!
Thomas I love watching your videos but how you can work with that light in all your vids I will never know just seems such a unnatural light

Thomas EXOVCDS glad you know what I mean , I didn’t want to sound like I’m complaining just observation
Thank you,no need to say more.!
Thank you for watching!
You definitely made that worse before you made it better 🤣 good work
That's me!
Jesus Christ - you make it look easy, but why couldn't they make it accessible from above?! Do you know the part number for the pump and bottle?
Contact www.ecstuning.com/ and give them your VIN number.
Thanks for the video! 😉👍
Thank you for watching!
Thomas EXOVCDS It’s very helpful 👍
10 gallon washer fluid tank! Thanks!
This one is actually quite small (for a Passat) compared to my BMW tank!
I had this problem b6 passat estate, washer fluid would empty from full to empty in a day...about 2 or 3 weeks this happened and then all of a sudden it just stopped?

Pump leaks can be intermittent.
@@EXOVCDS ahhh thank you...i will keep my eye out!
Perfect, thanks!!

Why does this have to happen in the middle of winter when i can't fix myself?
Thank you for watching!
Is this the same reservoir set up as 2008 Passat ?
Thanks, Gerry from San Diego , CA
I believe so.
Yes, all B6 models 2006-2010 Passat use the same parts.
Thank you for confirming!
Crikey - sorted - attaboy - upyours and till next time - to you too :)
I knew I forgot one!
Thomas EXOVCDS LOL
VW sure uses a lot of fasteners on the plastic shields. Must have topped up the washer fluid before they brought it in 🙄
I topped it up and that's when I noticed a leak.
Hvala na videu

So the way to fix it to buy a new pump? Or replace the gasket?
In this case, it was the pump (I think that was made clear in the video)... sometimes it's the grommet in the bottle (I think that was made clear in the video)... when replacing the pump, it's best to replace the grommet as well (can't remember if that was made clear in the video). It sure did!
you actually had one in stock?
I can sense the sarcasm! LOL... a few!

He was in for an oil change... I filled it and spotted the leak. He forgot to tell us about it, but ended up going for it. =)
oh... the audio is a bit too not loud enough here ;-)) (was that an ok comment??) :-(
Any comment is an OK comment!
Volume level seems OK for me... Hmmm.
No more leaks
Nope!
Astala vista 👍🏻

Any idea how many liters will be left in the tank after triggering low fluid light? Vw golf
Most cars usually have 10L reserve when the light comes on.

@@EXOVCDS 2000 VW Golf. I'm not convinced it's that or rain would get in as well, if I'm not mistaken
@@94BrunoO there's a cover under the wiper motor... the seal of the cover can leak and that will drop water down over the fuse panel / relay panel.
@@94BrunoO watch this video... you can see the cover I'm talking about.
ruclips.net/video/g9ha152R8DY/видео.html
