Thank you. So, does LCIS only become true cancer once it has gone invasive? Is it the same with DCIS in that case? As long as the cells are In Situ are they considered “precancerous”?

LCIS is different to DCIS. It doesn’t tend to become cancerous but you are more likely to get a breast cancer in the future.

I was diagnosed with 2 types of breast cancer. Dcis & lcis. Is surgery needed!? Stage 0. Are the chances of actually getting it low,or IT WILL happen?

in the UK we operate on DCIS as it can progress. LCIS doesn’t. But it does increase the risk of getting cancer in the future so we do more frequent mammograms

Neither DCIs nor lcis are cancers. Start there and empower yourself w that knowledge. Both are benign and harmless. The issue w dcis is that is can evolve into invasive cancer. Cancer is invasive and it spreads. In Situ means that the abnormal cells are localized and not able to spread. Also, dcis is not guaranteed to spread but surgery is taken as a precaution. In fact, studies are being now by doctors globally in the COMET clinical trail to determine les extreme ways to treat DCIS. Do research so you know what steps to take for your body. God bless. I too have both and have done much research in conjunctions my speaking to my doctors.

@@rebornefit that's absolutely true! I've done research since November, I can't find anything that says it's absolutely cancer. Everything you said,is what I found. Even if I thought about getting surgery, something tells me, DON'T! IVE decided NOT to. When I first got the news, that's exactly what she told me. I'm not satisfied with any answers I get. I've found out that All the women I've talked to,opted for surgery, just in case. My doctor did everything but, answer my questions. Don't worry about that,it's too complicated, we'll talk about THAT later. From November,it went from a golf ball size to credit card to large egg to small avocado, but, nothing in my MRI, x-rays, mammograms, biopsies scans or photos match. Just little dots and a few glowing lines. That's the dcis, nothing in lcis. I've decided to just watch it,I'm not getting answer I want, matter of fact, any answers to my questions. I mean,EVERY TIME I thought about getting surgery, signs & intuition says no. It's incredible how they really don't want to hear anything I have to say. Just swat it away

It is cancerous! Mine is invasive and it is cancerous. Saying it isn’t is irresponsible.
