Halo 2 Brutes get flak for being unpolished and whatnot, but they were always overwhelmingly the most Brute-like Brutes gameplay-wise. Halo 3 and Reach Brutes were jokes by comparison. I wish the classic Halo 2 style Brute berserk mode were to make a return at some point, but unfortunately it looks like even Infinite's Brutes seem to be pretty garbage in terms of combat ability.
@@elecman748 Personally those H2 Brute properties never bothered me that much. You can still deal with them very consistently by playing smart. They're not nearly as bullshit as the H4 Knights for example. Still, I'm not saying that the H2 Brute is exactly what the Brutes should be like in gameplay, but I think it's a good template to improve upon, rather than the Halo 3 approach of giving Brutes the gameplay role that Elites used to have and calling it a day. The Halo 3 approach might've been a good choice in a game without Elite enemies, but since Infinite has you face off against both Elites and Brutes, I think it would've made sense for Infinite Brutes to revisit the interesting forgotten enemy role that H2 Brutes had, and hone it into something most people could appreciate. Infinite's gonna be alive for 10 years though apparently, so I suppose they could have the H3-style Brutes as the default Brutes which look very Covenant-like, and add separate more Banished-looking Brute units later down the line which would be more based on the H2 Brutes. Since the Banished art style is just Brute visual themes turned up to 11, it would make sense for those very Brute-looking Brutes to be the kinds that are more Brute-like in gameplay, while leaving the Covy-ish Brutes to be more tame like all the non-H2 Brutes are. Working off of what was seen in the 8min Halo Infinite gameplay demo, something like this would be the best approach for the Brutes if you ask me.

The Infinite gameplay reveal was pretty good, even if the game as a whole needs a lot of work before release, which I agree it does, and a bunch of whiny bitches were more focused on the graphics than the actual gameplay. It worked for DOOM: Eternal when a bunch of morons were whining about the HUD being too colorful, along with whatever else they were bitching about.
