      Hx stomp and nux mg300 which better??

    • @nickojohnodtujan2795
      @nickojohnodtujan2795 3 года назад

      @@abrahampurba5251 depends on your needs. HX stomp gives you a variety of tones, chain route options, and a lot more flexibility. While NUX gives you the best and realistic tones without having to spend a diamond. I gave up the former as I found it to be too broad for my needs and went with the latter. Not to mention, it's got an expression pedal to give me the swells that I need.

    I wanted a little mobile kit to drag around so i bought a pair of Samson BT3's, and one of these MG300's. I'm literally blown away by the thump of the ALDamageRect setting after I tweaked the reverb and delay setting. Like holy crap. Has some real chunk and thump even through small Samson BT3 FRFR speakers. I'm waiting on a cable to see how it sounds through cranked B3031A's.
    I'm on Win10 and had to use the software from a higher model to enable a connection, but after that it worked fine even though it throws a software warning on every computer start. Just dismiss it and you're fine. Sounds effing great for the $$ The rectifier sounds better than my PODHD500X, but as I said, I need to test through better monitors to be sure.

    My mg300 arrived today, in part because of watching your videos. I’m a Pastor based in Scotland and was keen to revisit multi effects units now that the quality is reaching the budget price point. I switched over to a Katana and pedals a few years back, but was keen to see how far these have come since my ME-70 days. Looking forward to using it in church over the coming weeks. • @slawsonscot
      @slawsonscot Год назад +1

      @@nickcastor1583 all you need to do is plug your guitar into an effects unit (like this one, the NUX mg300), and then you can either plug headphones into it or you could plug it into your 10w amp. Your amp might have some effects built in - probably have reverb, which is like an ambient effect that makes the guitar sound like you're in a large room. Other basic effects like delay (repeats the notes you play), chorus (makes it sound like you've got two guitars playing the same part), or flanger (like a swirling effect) can all add something and help the creativity. Your amp might also have a distortion channel or dial, which makes the sound overdriven. Loads of options, limitless really, especially when you use a multi effects unit.

      @@slawsonscot thank you so much for the explanation. I have a blackstar debut 10e. I'm planning to get the nux mg300 for it. But since i didn't know if nux mg300 can be plugged straight into the amp, i was confused. Thank you for your guidance. ✨

    • @slawsonscot
      @slawsonscot Год назад +2

      @@nickcastor1583 it's a great little unit and I had one for a few months - only reason I sold it on was because it didn't take acoustic guitars all that well but it sounded great with my electrics. the computer software is excellent and really user friendly if you want to dig a little deeper with it, but you can plug it in and use the on-screen menus easy enough and you'll be able to get some great tones from it. all I would advise is less is always more with these things, so start off really minimal with the number of effects and keep the settings quite low, because too much reverb/delay/chorus can swamp the sound. all the best for the adventure though - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

      Hey! If you plan to record, go into the computer. If you just want to practice, you can use a stereo to two mono cable and use the headphone jack from the mg300.
      For recording, plug the speakers into the computer and hook the mg300 up via usb cable. Open your DAW and select the mg300 as your input and your computer as the output.
      It also might be worth investing in an affordable audio interface. It will allow you to do more when it comes to recording. Hope that helps!

    • @tycaskey

      Thanks! You just just need to press the foot switch however many times to the next preset. For example, if you’re on preset 2 and you want to jump to preset 5 real fast, you would need to hit the bank up three times. You would then need to quickly hit the bank down three more times to get back to preset 2. Not ideal, but hard to complain at the price point. Hope that helps!

    I wish there was a good acoustic emulation. It’s the only sound missing from the pedal. Maybe also a bass emulator.
    Looks like the new NUX 30 will have that covered.
    I agree on the PC software and connection issues. Win10 is iffy when loading new patches. Can get one to two in before it freezes when locating the patch in Explorer.
    Otherwise the software works well when building and altering patches.
    Will play with it at home before replacing my pedalboard at church. Biggest concern with these units is pressing the wrong patch with a higher gain or volume setting. Ouch. First task was to balance out each patch with a sound level DB meter to my Deluxe Reverb.
    The problem I encountered was that the factory patch just before the first user patch cannot be saved once you lower the volume. Again, ouch. Too loud and unavoidable. So all my gigging user patches start at 2A not 1A.
    Wonder if all these units are the same?

    • @tycaskey

      Hmm. My first reaction was something with the pickups, but if it’s not doing it with the software then that’s out. There’s a global eq that you can adjust as well. I’d look at that and make sure it’s not doing anything it shouldn’t. Also, make sure you have a good cable with all good connections. Finally, check the eq of whatever you’re running into (speakers, interface, etc.).

Some of the presets sound like a engineer who had no idea how to set them? I have painstakingly set some of my own patches but to tell you the truth I am underwhelmed to say the least. A lingering problem is there seems to be a 2K brittleness that the little EQ pedal included just can't deal with. As he answered. You can if you want to and if it's the only monitoring solution you have.
      But a modeler is modeling the full signal chain including an amp, a cab, and a microphone.
      So it's an all in one solution. It's not made to transform your fender amp into say a Marshall JCM 800 or something unlike many people think.
      I think you could just turn off all amp and cab modeling off and just use it like a traditional pedal board going into your tube amp though, though I'm not sure whether the MG300 is capable of it.
      It should be.
