CHECK OUT THE NEW SAVE THE OCEAN 62MAS 63MAS Version: ruclips.net/video/-QzK86gsUd0/видео.html - Falling
Just got mine yesterday and I’m obsessed. It’s such a gorgeous watch.
SWEEEET
A quick video on the new colorway. Getting a blackbay 58 vibe guys and since I know the bb58 is so flipped I wanted to let you know don't let my video make it look so good and you end up disappointed. I love it. But we may have different tastes. -falling
You can get 3 to 5 awesome Seikos for the price of the BB58... Just sayin
yeah thats true. still bb58 is sweet. only tudor id own!
This model or the Oris 65?
@@alicashiusjr Oris any day.
Great video ! Thanks for detailed pictures and comments !
One of my favorite seiko diver case shape, simply beauty and versatile! love the video
Couldn't agree more!
This watch is stunning. A great review and I am definitely going to be getting one
Good choice!
Didn't like the original 2020 version but the 2021 combo with the Nato really work for me - I'm a Nato guy, and the strap is beautiful - hope Seiko make the strap available to buy on its own
One month ago I bought a BB58 with bracelet. I ´ve been waiting 2.5 years to achieve this piece for my collection and this 63 MAS Cappuccino + is a real stunner. I can compare with my BB58 and the blue lume is something desirable for more Seiko watches. Man, your content is better and better...Ty !!
BB58 is a beauty!
@@EscapementWatch it’s bro 🙏🏻
Very attractive watch, thanks for getting the review out so early, cheers!
My pleasure!
This is how people should give details ❤️love it
Thanks for the review, and great close up footage!
No problem!
You have to tuck the strap back into the second floating keeper and skip the first one, that’s how it’s meant to work I believe.
ah makes sense
@@EscapementWatch I got the watch on 31st of May and just today figured out the nato strap. It goes through the first keeper and then over the top of the second one pushed from the back in the second keeper underneath and when it is pushed to the end slide the first keeper to the end towards the second keeper, perfect fit. (notice that first keeper is higher than second one, by design, Seiko actually solved the nato strap tucking, genius!) I have spb143 and was stunned with the look and feel in the flesh as the photos and videos are way of the actual real in hand feel, details, materials... So I have to get spb239 as well. I have to say that I never liked natos as well but on some watches, after some experience, it just fits...
@@AtzaArt I'll be damned! I have four of these straps and I couldn't figure out why the hell the second keeper was smaller and the first keeper was a floater! Sneaky b@$tards! Brilliant! Just happened to watch this vid becuase I just picked up a 147...
I thought from the description I’d not like this (the gilt ) but as a Tudor fan boy , I love it
Beautiful watch. Perfect color combination. The strap is cool👌🏻
Agreed!
Very good review. The nato color matches the this watch perfect, but it looks better off the wrist
Buddy the second keeper on the Seichu NATO is mobile and therefore also bigger than the first one to house the strap when you want to tuck it in. I took a while to figure that out too. Not sure if I can post a picture to show you but you can try to do what I said and it will be easy. Cheers
Wished there was more of a comparison between this and spb147. That could be a huge value added since you’ve already reviewed the spb147 too.
I honestly can’t tell the difference. I guess I need a side by side comparison so I could see the differences for myself.
I have the 239, and have only been able to compare it to the 147 for a few minutes after I had already purchased the 239. The difference is bigger than I thought actually - the dial is more muted in the brown shades, and most lights seems black or grey with a hint of brown. In fact depending on the light it goes between a matte dial and a sunburst. As with the dial, the silver markers and hands make a bigger difference than I thought, which I was hoping to be the case. It feels more like a modern watch which has aged to achieve the creamy lume colour , opposed to a modern watch trying hit a certain vintage style.
I knew I was going for a strap code bracelet within about 5 mins of wearing it, as the NATO just makes it feel like an absurdly thick watch, and that's not helped given its smaller size. Biggest take away was the dial, specifically how it's much more subtle and how its colour shifts in comparison to the 147.
Where the 147 is brown with hints of black, the 239 is black with some hints of brown in certain lighting.
The hands on the SPB239 are half polish and half brushed. The hands on the SPB147 is all polish.
Yes some great idears many thanks Davoro 🎉😂😅
fantastic review, I am looking forward to the SPB237j1 one!
You and me both!
Beautiful watch. I finally decided on the SPB237 "Willard" as I already have the SPB143 variant.
Good choice!
Great review but i'm staying with SPB147. Prefer the color tone on SPB147.
i tried on the newer blue BB58 at my AD and it didn't do anything for me, but yet it is a youtube darling. it is so easy to buy into all the hype.
oh yea understandable.
Tried this on at the shop today. It did feel a little thick on the wrist. Didn't know the nato added 4mm to the watch--that explains it.
Love the subtle look!
Great review as usual. My AD told I can purchase the 2 separate straps for about 200 USD, shipping time is a nightmare indeed.
Sounds about right the best bet is for you to check the forums or the watch exchange on Reddit and usually there's going to be someone who's going to sell it
@@EscapementWatch good idea, many thanks!
the strap goes back into the 2nd buckle, not the 1st one in that case I've the SPB237 and I'm wondering about this one too !
I have this watch. I use it with uncle Seiko waffle strap and I love it
i like this one ,i am going to buy it!
Very good videos you make just all technical and to the point, you should have a lot more subscribers.
I appreciate that!
@@EscapementWatch you,re welcome and keep the good work.
I have this watch and I love it. I wear it on brown NATO and I find it’s the best NATO strap I’ve ever had. I also have the Seiko silicone strap to swap with it. The fold over holds in the second buckle not the first
Very nice! yes on the willardX spb239 I put it on properly in the wrist shots. Great strap!
I've never been a fan of the 62MAS but the Kaki colored text got me all excited
Khaki rules!
I never thought I liked natos. But I got a free bond style strap , and put it on my 051 , and it's just fantastic. It gives it such a masculine feel about it, that normal straps can't do. It's made me fall in love with the 051 all over again. Love the new seiko natos, look great on that watch . All these 62/63 mas watches are strap monsters anyway. I've just put a quality leather nato on my green captain cook and it's took it to another level too. Great vid as always !!!
Thanks for sharing!
the strap doesnt go back in , you pull the lower keeper closer , which is movable and you push the strap end into that lower keeper
Me encantan tus videos
I bought this watch after I saw your video a couple of weeks ago and I went into the shop wondering about the strap... when I was going to ask if there was a different size I found a small leaflet inside the box with drawings that explain how to fold the end of the NATO under the taller floating keeper 🙂
Great to hear! Yes in the spb237 video we put it on correctly. The leaflet wasn't there before? I'm going to believe Seiko had a ton of questions and they made a quick leaflet for it.
I am wearing my Seiko SPB239J1 now. The NATO straps are both way too long and too thick. They are just like this video shows and cannot be folded back out of the way. I have attached a rubber strap from my Seiko Capt Willard which fits perfectly and also reduces the thickness of the watch on the wrist considerably. It seems to run about -30secs/1min pd, but hopefully this will improve the more I wear it.
My 239 runs +5; I use my Casio GW5000U1JF-1, and the Hodinkee app keeps my 239 spot-on.
Gorgeous watch. I want!
You and me both!
Seiko logic: Let's redesign the case to lower the center of gravity of the watch and make it more comfortable on the wrist. Now let's sell the watch on a nato strap that will make the watch sit 4mm higher on the wrist and bring the center of gravity back to where it was before the case redesign...
IWC logic: lets just slap our giant watches on natos.
I like Seikos approach better. That said, I'd cut these down to single pass straps. Normal nato double pass design is far more resilient than would ever need on my worst day.
IMO, natos don't add to the visual thickness of the watch.
@@trevbarlow9719 it's not about the visual thickness of the watch. It's about how tall it sits on the wrist when you add an extra 4mm of material between the watch and the skin.
@@MDVH92 for me it's about how it comes across visually, but I take your point.
@@trevbarlow9719 But they do add to the actual thickness on the wrist. Measurably.
Its funny how the color scheme changing the watch dramatically. The SPB213 thw white and blue one has modern styling to it, but now with exactly same watch but different color they are wolrd apart.
Very nice piece.
I think I like this over the SPB147. But I still like my SPB143 more! Haha. Great video!
Right on
I like my spb149 more
@@siulungkwong I do like the SPB149 too! That blue dial and gold seconds is nice. But I wanted an everyday piece, so I went with the 143. I don’t regret that decision. :)
I need this bad boy 🔥
Hey what about the SPB297?? I have one on order!!🙏🤛
For the strap, you have to go over then insert it inside
Got me on the blue lume. Loving my SPB145. Great line from Seiko.
Right on
This is gorgeous.
I like. If I could change a few things. Sign the crown. Give us a ceramic bezel insert. Remove some of the text from the dial. Leave the prospex logo for the case back.
Great review. Want this or the SPB147.
pick this one!
How is it different from spb147?
Gonna buy this week this beauty👌
Right on!
@@EscapementWatch got instead 147, and when the son hits watch looks like 3k plus the dial is pure magic 👌
I can't believe this video is outperforming *well so far* the white 63MAS SPB213. That never happens....147 video did terrible vs the 149 video. Interesting result wasn't expecting that.
They released this thing with impeccable timing to sell for summer 2021! Making it hard for me to decide between this and the 143, man! Actually leaning towards this one 🤔
People love natos bc they're great for the water and most people have significantly larger wrists than you seem to so it works better on a bigger wrist.
What is the difference with 62 and 63 Mas?
Guys help me out I’m new to the watch videos and world. I’m hearing the word flipwatch over and over but what do you guys mean with that?
Please Seiko make at least one of these without a date! Your fans demand this 🙌
Yes pls!
Could be wrong but I don't think Seiko make a no date version of the 6R35 movement
They should!
@@Andrew.W75 I think I never saw modern Seiko without day / daydate complication. Only Grand Seiko. Maybe symmetry is reserved only for luxury watches in Seiko HQ. :-)
hahaahah millian so true I often entertain this exact thought daily!
Does the case shape matter significantly when there’s a double nato strap underneath it?
Well yes because a lot of people like to change straps and not all of them are going to be NATO
Looks great in the tan/khaki strap.
I think so too!
Hi great job I enjoy your review a lot! Hey do you know if the SPB147 has the same bezel color o is different?, I think is the hands color the only difference, is right?
Just the hands and dial looks a tad more black in some lights.
Hour markers are rimmed in gold on the 147 vs silver on the 239.
Is this version black or brown?
NATO’s are technical straps - that’s one reason people like them. Safest way to dive with a watch - if one spring bar fails the watch remains connected by the nato. On a rubber strap - you lose the watch - which was historically counting time in water. We now use five computers for this task (& sometimes a dive watch for redundancy)
A comparison with the spb147 would be great!
What is the difference? :O Hands not gilt?
Agree. I think I prefer the 147 with the gold hands and more importantly the gold finish around the hour markers. It's hard to tell but the 147 looks a little more sunburst than the 239. But would love to see them more directly compared.
Which one hugs the wrist better - 63mas, captain Willard (spb153) or mm200?
for me the new mm200 just hugs the best. It is so comfortable on my wrist.
Beautiful but I think I prefer the spb147 all gold
Gorgeous
It would be great if you could review the new Seiko Turtle SRPG19K1. This seems to be incredibly legible.
I'm hoping to see those new padis
Beautiful watch👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Can you do a comparison video between this and the spb147 please?
I second this
Is the case color the same as the 147's? I see the differences in the dial but can't tell if the case color tone is different. I love my 147 but hate that I can't find a matching bracelet because of case's darker color tone.
all Dia-Shield Coated Seikos have the darkened metal. A by-product of the process.
@@EscapementWatch Ah! Got it. Thanks a lot.
Самая классная секундная стрелка была у Сейко Монстр, а эти ну так себе, через чур классичны.
This model is very similar to my Phoibos Proteus in black. There are differences but you CAN check it out on their site. The case is coated with a distressed look and old TIME radium handset and markers except the markers are more like the Monster. My second hand is unique with a lightning bolt stem accentuated with a RE D pointer. Domed sapphire crystal. The Phoibos has a signed crown that comes in a spiral twist grip. The movement is the NH36 with the date complication and 40 hr power reserve; but the overall look with the details left out are strikingly similar. The bezel is two toned and lasts most of the night. EYE wasn't looking at the watch for bling but it has garnered my wrist TIME and the accuracy is about +6 sec/dy.
Like the color combination very subtle but effective. I personally just don't like the "Gen 2" dials with the 3 o' clock lumed marker throws everything off for me. Shame...
it is a shame indeed
I would gladly trade 70 hr power reserve for a 4hz beat.
Which one is better choice? SPB213 (white dial limited edition) or this SPB239?
depends on your style but I'd go with this.
That pro spec logo is right up there with Omegas Helium escape valve.
the strap is put in a different way... so all ok with it
Very nice!
Is spb143 bracelet and spb239 compatible with each other?
yes it is.
Amazing video! Would you recommend this over the SPB147?
This one
I think I prefer the richer brown dial and gold/hands and marker outlines on the 147. Both are nice of course but 147 is just more unique (and also less expensive if it doesn't sell out).
Budget Tudor Black bay
When the day comes that we dont have to check that our Seiko has an aligned bezel is the day Seiko's reputation will be repaired
The strap fits better on a larger wrist, the end doesn’t stick out like that.
This vs SPB 147. IS there really a difference other than the hour and minute hands?
To me the dial looks like it has a little bit more charcoal or black and the 147 has a little bit more brown tones but this is just off memory I haven't had them side by side
Do you prefer this gilt 62 MAS, or the new, blue MM200 Reduced?
this gilt!
@@EscapementWatch Thanks. Was looking to buy the MMR, but when I saw that ‘1965’ gilt! My birth year, too!
How much is this package
Man wish they made a steel bracelet. Would have been a good rival to the Tudor bb58!!
You can always pick one up separately from an AD or online. Plenty of folks on the forums don't care for that bracelet and sell them off barely used too
You can buy an oem one. Gnomon should have it.
Love my 58 original and this one. Not a fan of the strap though, a bracelet version would be my preference.
You can purchase an OEM bracelet with Diashield coating for this piece from Gnomon Watches for $290.00
@@squinkygordon1322 Do you have a link for this pls?
Same watch as the SPB147, only slight color changes that will hardly differentiate.
For me, the BB58 ties up too much $$'s for a general-purpose, daily buddy. I'm retired now, the SPB239 & the 153 are just about right. I've got 4 Rolexes I'll wear when I want to. It's too damn dangerous out in the wild to wear my best watches (JLC Reverso Tribute Duo 2016), I was told to be careful by the nearby watch store, be careful, an old guy (like me) was beaten silly for a watch!
Slim watches on NATOs I like but this one has to be on bracelet or rubber. Great classic understated looks that you wouldn't get bored of.
Does anybody know where they sell this watch? I cant't seem to find it anywhere....
Kavar Jewellers Link in the description to website
The seichu strap looks so good ,Does seiko sell this strap separately?
They should but it will really be difficult to get. Seiko OEM straps are always annoying to purchase from my AD it takes usually 6 months to get one.
Never had blue lime, but still prefer green.
I've only ever had a green lime. Yet to see a blue one.
How dark is the 2nd strap, is it like black indoors and on the sunlight dark brown?
almost black indoors, but still can notice its brown.
@@EscapementWatch regards from Croatia, Europe. Love your videos 👍🏻
Now that's how it should be done great watch, and love the taste but I did not like it I loved it so can't wait to own one taking my sola seiko speedtimer back we'll I liked it but have many difo watches that I Love😂 mind it's still a good watch but let's face, it I love how the Orient white and Black and watch is and I am going to love that Davoro🎉😊❤
I think these are better then the 62mas honestly . I got mine a couple weeks ago it’s the only seiko that has got me to open my wallet so far . I went with the 143 .
While I love the 63mas when you have them side by side the 62 is superior objectively. But subjectively its up to your style. For what its worth the 62 is on par or better to even the rolex submariner in fit and finish. I super analyzed them both to death as I have access to the 41mm sub because studio 29 always has 1 or 2 new ones in stock weekly.
@@EscapementWatch I mean more the styling . I like the bezel case and dial makers better . I think it’s a modern interpretation that is better than the original . I’m not a fan of those dainty thin bezels . Oris divers 65 etc . I think this is the best looking seiko diver made today . Of course that’s all subjective, And it should be superior for the price . I’m sure in person its awesome .
fair enough. yes it is.
@@zman8340 Well said, these spb143 and spb239 that I own are game changers in my book.
Wrong. 62mas is whole different league. You can kid yourself, but if you have both on your wrist for even one full day, you would not say such thing. I had both for a day, trust me, i won't even look at 63mas second time. The quality is simply too big of a gap. SLAs are totally crushing it when it comes to details. Even the sapphire crystals are of different feel (grade). Rolex doesn't even come close.
A little smaller in diameter and thinner and I’d happily settle for this over the BB58. Do wish the straps were regular straps and not natos - love the colours and texture.
I should compare the two
I think you are meant to tuck the strap end in from the inside not the outside
Is the only difference between this and the cappuccino one (SPB1471) the silver or gold hands? I think the cappuccino is a good $300 less, so if someone doesn’t like NATO’s and doesn’t mind the gold hands it’s a good value alternative. I might have to go and check these out in the flesh. Gorgeous looking watch.
I think this one has a silver dial and silver marker, where as the cappuccino has a brown sundial and gold markers.
@@speckracing7165 thanks. I’ve since bought the 147. The brown sunburst is stunning.
Thanks @Olly W. The is a promo to get the spb239 for 1000€, where the cappuccino remains at its retail 1050. Still i think it is gorgeous (on screen at ‘east), so probably will go for that.
@@speckracing7165 ah ok. Both great looking watches. Maybe pricing in the uk is a bit different. £1200 for the 239. £900 for the 147. You’ll be getting a bargain @ $1000 👍🏻
I saw this watch in person. It’s really a gray slight sunburst dial. Maybe it looks brown for some people because of the beige, like minimal patina effect, hour markers and the numbers on the bezel. The dial matches the brushed stainless steel bezel really well.
Absolutely stunning watch. Videos and photos doesn’t do it justice at all.
*It’s easier to tuck the excess strap under not over the strap. Just a tip.
Yes you are right about the dial after spending more time with it I see charcoal in it. My fav 63mas. And we corrected the strap issue in the willard spb237 video
How many of these have they released in the line now?
this is the 6th one. SPB143,145,147,149,213,239
@@EscapementWatch It's very quickly becoming their own version of the Black Bay line.
Looks good but my 143 kills it... Hahaha
great video as always FT!
ALWAYS FIRST TO MAKE A VIDEO ON A NEW SEIKO!!!
yeah this one is never popular. Thats why I have a warning in the video and comments. This style not for everyone. I do love it tho.
@@EscapementWatch there is another way to wear the Nato strap so it doesn't make the watch go too high on the wrist. I forgot where I watched it but I think there is alot of tutorials on RUclips...
oh yeah i heard of that. I dont know it tho. but still not for me!
I'm with you on the NATO! There is a ton of hype, but I don't like them in practice.
Check out the SPb237 video where I put it on properly as Seiko started shipping these with a little piece of paper with proper instruction.
