    That's a great innovation. I trim but find it a faff knowing I can do my cases and bullets with one machine makes it very appealing. Being in England makes it a bit more challenging and costly to acquire though.

    Cool beans. I already use that trimmer to trim my brass, so yeah... I'd like to add the bullet trimmer option. ( I don't do that yet or really 'need' to but some of those tips are horrendous under a magnifying glass and there is no way to measure accurate oal with them. And it just bothers me. ha ha) Thanks John and Happy New Year! And PS: zoom out a bit or bring things in to the frame! ;)

    Two part question. After you sort, trim and point, what order do you fire them in (shortest to longest or longest to shortest)? Do you see any difference in vertical dispersion from the shortest to the longest? P.S. - I have the Accuracy One bullet OAL comparator, Accuracy One motorized meplat trimmer for the Lyman and the Hoover pointing die. Thanks for all the great information you share and the work you put into producing your videos.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Год назад

      Thank you for the kinds words. As for sorting and shooting, I don't really care what order because I'm only concerned that 25 of them are the same for each string I shoot. Any minor dispersions will be adjusted out on the next string withs sighters.

    I am wondering if I can use this to trim 147gr .308 noses so they would fit in to 300 HAM'R, I am talking about trimming like 0.100" off. Would it handle it?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Год назад

      It’s possible although it may take a little bit of time. I know there are different degrees of end mill cutters and I don’t think this one is super aggressive. I would give them a call and ask.

    How does it compare to the Giraud meplat trimmer accessory?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад

      I know people who like the Giraud version and if you own one already it probably make sense to use if nothing else for the cost savings. The big advantage of this is the ability to easily adjust .001" at a time but technically you could achieve this with the Giraud by adding a Whidden click micrometer die.

    • @renetatro547
      @renetatro547 2 года назад +1

      I found with the Giraud that no matter how much fiddling one does with the adjustment, the cutter leaves a tiny nub on the edge of the meplat. I changed to the Hoover system, and that problem was eliminated. The Giraud is designed to trim brass...; don't try and make it do things it wasn't designed to do. I think Giraud could use a different cutter, which should also eliminate the problem, but the cutter Giraud supplies for meplat trimming does not do the trick.

    I'd suggest you to change the terminology from "trim" to "pointing"? I think? Is that not what your doing? Trimming I think should be relegated to trimming brass? My 2C's worth.

    • @ericbennett1253
      @ericbennett1253 2 года назад

      Nope. Trimming bullets and pointing bullets are 2 different things. He is trimming them.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад +1

      I get what you're saying in so much as the trimming and pointing are not usually mutually exclusive but it truly is trimming the bullet. This is actually 'trimming' the end of the bullet off and the 'pointing' is done with a completely different process with a die.There are people out there who only trim the meplat and don't bother pointing.
