Haha I def have said obsessed before as well, but its obviously to be taken with a grain of salt and just a way of saying I love something very much. Maybe need to think about rephrasing it 😆
I don’t understand why anyone pays any attention to the opinions of self-important, self-appointed “fashion gurus”…this is such a refreshing, honest, sensible video…loved it!
I don't think long shirts, leggings or skinny jeans, and knee high boots will ever go out of style even though they aren't stylish. It's now just sort of an everyday "uniform" women wear because it's easy, comfortable and appropriate for most casual situations. Women aren't going to stop wearing it because someone says it's not in style. It's just a matter of styling it right.
This is why I LOVE thrift shopping! You can find those old gems to pair with your current favorites and give them a new twist. We should all wear what we want! Why do we only feel comfortable wearing things a million other people are wearing too? Stand out and be proud!
Right on, sister! I, too, wear whatever I feel good in, whatever is flattering to my body. Trends are just to entice people to BUY more clothes than we need. There are too many things "trending" and they cycle through so fast, there's no way anyone could buy everything...and they shouldn't. Not all trends suit every body shape or personality. We tend to dress to impress other people, other women mostly, but we're not going to impress everyone in every outfit. Save your money, people, and free your mind!
Agreeeeeed!!!!❤❤ I am 54 and I still wear and love overalls, vintage clothing, ripped jeans, anything I want!! And I Don't Care whatever people say are in fashion. I thrift and sew my clothes. I'm a happy camper doing what I want. ❤😊
Yay for 54 yr olds!🙌 I am definitely into more vintage clothes now and love thrifting! I wear what I want, as well. I don't want to wear what everyone else does. I enjoy the various videos for inspiration but it is definitely not of any one influencer or trend.
I love tunics and leggings. I’m a teacher and the combination is so comfortable and works well for my job that requires me to move all the time. I am also someone who bloats and tunics are very forgiving and comfortable for that!
Most of my clothes are vintage from the seventies: leather blazers and trench coats, large collared shirts, corduroys, clogs, Dr. Scholl’s. I top it off with Love’s Baby Soft. I wear what makes me happy :)
I have recently been learning to love not just thrifted, but vintage clothes 💖 Estate sales are an amazing source! I just got a wool skirt from the 80's that's so warm and well-made and a really classic piece. I could go buy something really similar for $180, I got it for $5 and love it!
I think camo, cheetah prink ,skater skirts are classic pieces. They should also make skinny jeans a classic because so many people still wear and like those.
y2k layering and color combos. I like shorts, but hate wearing them because I got thighs that rub no matter if I weigh 140 or 240, and bermudas are not my fav...but I can wear shorts if I wear tights under them! Sure, it's more of a look for cooler days, but it's still a way to wear an item I think is super cute in a way I also think is super cute.
fast fashion is getting faster, i miss when trends would last more than a few months!!! i still love more y2k looking clothing even though a lot of people have strayed away from it
Totally, def wear it if u still like it! The nice thing about fashion is that the majority of the population really doesnt care or pay attention to whats trending and what not, so even if your outfits are maybe 'outdated', most people wont even know lol
Exactly! Trends are mostly for designers to make money! We can wear what we want, and we should. Your style should be yours, and not what someone trying to sell you something is saying. You’ll know if it is working by how you feel.
I agree unless your style is showing stuff that should not be seen in public. Please try to be at least clean if you can’t be fashionable. I f you have more rolls than the bakery, remember spandex can only do so much! That goes for men as well. Work dirty is not objectionable, but tank tops with the beer belly hanging out for both sexes has no place in public. Yes I am a large woman myself, so I know if I don’t like looking at IT, no one else does either. So I am not fat shaming, save the comments please. Keep American beautiful.
Infinity scarves have really become something of a modern classic - what dates them is cheap big knit "wool" .... A stylish close knit cashmere or merino looks super.
I agree 💯 with everything you are saying here. In fact sometimes I prefer dressing in a less trendy way because it makes me feel more individual/original.
Infinity scarves are the safest scarf to wear in rush hour on crowded public transportation!!! Long ago I squeezed through the crowd to exit the subway car and my long scarf got stuck in the closing doors as i stepped off the subway car. Scaryyyyy!!!! (I was very lucky) Thanks for not buying in to it all!! -In cold climates women also need great leg warmers🥇 and tall boots 🥈great long coats with hoods smart hidden pockets🥉. Also great fab warm caps and gloves!! 🏅 Oooo leggings as tights under skirts or wide leg jeans!!! 🎉
Can’t agree more with this video! I’ve been experimenting with my style lately and get most of my inspiration from Pinterest/Tumblr aesthetics from the 2010’s (grunge/alternative looks). I’ve been trying to come up with creative ways to wear what I already own in a different way instead of splurging on a new closet. I’m having fun with it and I think that’s what fashion is all about! Also, I will never not wear skinny jeans at this point 🤣
Thank you so much for your video. I am 64 years old and some things I really wearing regardless if theyre in style. As long as it looks flattering then go with it. Please make more videos like this❤
Er du norsk?!? I knew I needed some new inspiration - and we are almost the same age, same body type and height and Im also leaning more maximalist than minimalist, or more bold looks. Thank you so much for making this video, as I'm getting used to my 30s the horrible "you look young for your age" (ageism much) has crept in and I feel like I "have" to dress like a gen z to keep up, yet I love many garments from the 2016-2018 era and noe I don't feel like the only one! Im looking forward to getting to know you as a creator and I'm so glad there's a new voice in the youtube fashion universe!
Wear whatever you want. Wearing “outdated” trends is big middle finger to these fashion brands trying to push for new trends just for us to spend more money to impress people we don’t care about. I’ve been more zoomers gung-ho about wearing skinny jeans bc they want to go against the mainstream of wearing baggy pants. I still love that black skinny jeans with a white tee and denim jacket ensemble. You’d go to a indie rock band concert and you’ll find like 20 people with this exact outfit. It’s just so classic
I am not full on ignorant of what's trending and what not (in fashion), but I keep wearing similar styles, silhouettes and garments in general because I feel my best in them. My mom often times asks me if I don't wanna wear less dated clothes, and for certain pieces it may be something I like and am happy about the fact they are easily available, but most of the time I just don't care enough to even try them on in a store and see how I feel in them. Same with interior design btw. I was so happy when industrial design was hyped and trending and I could easily buy decorations I liked. I won't get rid of them when it's out of style, because I love how it looks in my apartment. Btw. I also love skater skirts and they are one of the easiest garments to make yourself, if you have at least basic sewing skills. It's basically just a circle and a waistband. (Unless you use fabric that is not stretchy enough, then you may need to add buttons or a zipper.) Best thing about making them yourself is that you can really perfectly choose the length you prefer on yourself.
So true, I def feel like I'm in the same boat. I do like trying new styles, but I def gravitate towards styles and silhouettes I know work for me when I shop
Good for you! The fashion influencers are not the boss of us. I heard the ankle cuff on straight leg jeans has been out for a couple of years. I'm sorry to offend the fashion police but I have short legs and I love the cuff. I have my skinny jeans specifically for my knee high boots. I still rock my leopard prints. These things should be considered classics IMO.
I swear if you wait long enough what was once trending years ago will be trending once again not that it matters to me. I wear whatever I feel good in and and is comfortable really.
I'm still waiting for capris to make their big comeback! They're so easy to wear when you live in a state where weather is all over the place. Plus I'm a person who loves the Y2K aesthetics overall because they're very flattering on me! : )
Great video! I love tunics too, and the green one you showed here (upper right corner photo) is especially cute because it has shaping. It it fitted around the bust then flares out. Very flattering and a good non-frumpy silhouette. The sweatery looking tunic with handkerchief hem is cute too... fit and flare in the same way.
Wear what makes you happy. As an 'old lady' I still wear a few fashions that are from the 70's. Trends are for fools. Be who you are and not who someones else says you ought to be.
I think when you’re young you can wear what you want whether it’s trendy or not. When you get to be my age which is 68. I tend to be more classic and minimal. I think it suits you. I am now I try to stay current and modern with my accessory’s. My wardrobe really is very classic.😊
I’m sorry but anyone that says skinny jeans aren’t a timeless piece don’t know what they’re on about! Also, just found your channel via this video - new sub! 😊
i love this. the one thing i think everyone looks the best in is JOY. not any trend, cut, shape, style, but loving what youre wearing and what you look like. wear what you feel the best in, be tacky, be outdated, be basic or weird, but have fun and enjoy it. people will say things no matter what, it is whatever you feel that matters
I won't wear flared, wide pants. I look and feel frumpy in them. It is all about selling more clothes with no regard for appearance. I wear exactly what I want, I am not a lemming. Leggings and knee boots are the cutest. I miss all the cute winter clothes, I live in Florida and wear shorts and sandals year round. Love scarves infinity or not, chunky necklaces and anything creative. Love your post.
I absolutely agree with you. Nowadays, fashion is mixed with 70s and 80s, and I'm always shocked when some influencer starts claiming that this or that is highly NO NO in fashion. We should wear what suits Us and especially what we feel good in. And I don't care if someone said its OUT....
I still skinny jeans and they will never go out of style for me and exactly what else am I going to wear all my cute boots and uggs with in the fall and winter? I have a pair of boot cut and flare those and wear them when I can I still think they are really fun in the fall. Love infinity and thigh high boots too.
The Fashionistas may have decided that skinny jeans & leggings are out but the retailers & general public disagree lol. I am only interested in trends so if a color, cut or silouette that I like & find flattering trends it is easier to find. I will say I am pleased to see more options in jeans/pants so you have a choice & can switch it up. I am personally over skinny jeans most of the time & am vibing with flare & bootcut more *unless* I am wearing a long, tunic style top. I like them under a dress too :) I kind of replaced leggings with joggers. I still wear leggings around the house but if I leave the house, I prefer joggers. Sometimes it's just about finding a new way to wear an older style so you don't look dated.
Thank you so much for saying all the things that I'm thinking. I really appreciate your honesty and look on things. I always feel so "behind" because i'm not wearing the latest trends....It can be so overwhelming. Great video.
I so agree about colored bottoms too!! One way to solve the problem of not being able to find them in stores is to sew them. Some skirt styles are pretty easy to make even for beginners. Just a thought. Thank you for this inspiring video! Just subbed. :)
I'm really happy that the algorithms brought you into view for me because, sister!! I'm all, "AMEN, AMEN!!" throughout this video. Here is my answer to this for 23/24's cold season: One of the big run-way trends for this year was pants under dresses and skirts. I feel like this idea keeps most of these "I-can't-let-you-go" looks workable. Leggings, jeggings, skinny jeans, including the colors (IMHO) will continue to work for me under dresses, skirts (even skater), AND tunics - if they're long enough. I'm 5' tall, so a lot of tunics look like dresses on me, anyway. --and I have the same issue that you have with getting wide legged styles in any pants, not just jeans; hemming is in my future. It feels like one of my favorite outfits, a dress with denim tones over rolled up skinny jeans, can still quietly rock - without rocking any fashion boats.😂
There’s a book I heard about recently called “The Courage to be Disliked.” I haven’t read it yet, but one of the chapters is, “Nobody cares how you look,” which is so funny but isn’t it true? We should wear what makes us feel happy and put-together according to our own style and preferences. Most people (who are nice and focused on more important things) don’t really look that hard at our clothes. I’ve certainly noticed this. Anyway, this is a very encouraging video. Thank you!!
Trends change so quick now to make money for the clothing industry. I’ve never been trendy I’m more alternative in my younger years now I’m just confused after a big weightloss. My odd body is short legs and arms and long body so I have to wear clothes that fit and flatter. I personally wish super long trousers that I’d fall over go soon, silly arms I don’t want to look like I’m wearing a balloon and for the love of hella oversized boxy miss shaped I just look like I’m wearing a tent. I love an abstract animal print or abstract flowers sploges ditsy no just no on me. Detest mom jeans stick with skinny as taking flares bootcut up on 24 inch legs just dosnt work. That’s my gripes but the next person will have different body confidence and style we need to stop shaming and deominising people. I’ll get of my soap box
I like the colored jeans too. How about Camo and leopard together? That could be a look. LOL. I crocheted some infinity scarves. You bet I'm gonna wear them. I have skinny jeans and I'm gonna wear them because I do not have a lot of money to go out and buy new ones right now.
Styles I still love: Side parts for hair. I get that middle parts are in now but as someone with fine hair it’s hard getting volume with a middle part and it doesn’t work as well with my hairline.
This is so great to hear someone thumbing their nose at the naysayers and being so positive. Yes definitely dig out your favourties and wear them! I am not going to throw out perfectly good clothes cause of some fashion trend. Being old and wise and taught me that you wear what looks good and feels right for you. I love my capris and skinnies. (leg issues) I will keep my tunics and cardigans and what ever else I want to wear (belly issues). Being a little on the shorter but plumper side, the wide leg, cropped off pants are not my friend. They are made for the 6', underweight model with the long legs. (not to mention how impractical in the cold weather months) Fashion needs to back off from this exclusive trend! Have they not been listening to women for the last few decades who are saying this is not acceptable? BTW, I have subscribed to your channel based on your practical and honest talk on this video. Cheers!
I will always love and wear the pumpkin spice latte girl look. Living in Florida when it finally gets cool enough to wear a scarf and boots I am the first one to celebrate.
i still like and wear the longer (like between hip and knee length-ish) chunky cardigans. with leggings. LOL and sometimes boots. or sometimes basic white sneakers. And ive just described what I'll be wearing at the airport for my 7 am flight tomorrow :P
Completely unrelated to the topic of this video, but…. That cat pillow over your right shoulder, is FANTASTIC!!!! Love love love kitty looks so happy 😄
Gosh, I still dress the same... Like back 2015, and after two pregnancies I thought I was KILLING IT because my clothes still fit me like they did at uni 😂. I loved skater skirts ❤ and colored pants, today it's the day I realized I'm out of trend, and happy to be! Thanks for the video and the critical analysis 🎉
I have old fashion formulas that I still wear. Long cardigan or plaid Shacket with leggings or skinny jeans and knee boots yup. Always looks smart and very comfy
The part that irks me is the trying to convince us that out of style clothes aren't flattering. Like 🤨. A couple of years ago we were told how flattering and great those styles were, and in a few more they'll be telling us all our new clothes arent flattering. Like what flatters your shape doesn't change. Just be honest and say 'we dont like it anymore'. Not to mention the 'fashionable' clothes today are objectively unflattering on almost everyone. Bunch of rectangles walking around.
Honestly its kind of funny but around those times when this stuff was popular I was wearing what is trendy now lol so a lot of oversized clothes, bold tights, mary janes, flats lol and I was seen as not really that fashionable then but now I see almost the same outfits i used to wear its just funny how trends are. That being said, Always wear what you love to wear. it will most likely become a trend at some point
Good for you! I hate being told I “need” something! And when influencers say they are “obsessed” with something! An obsession can be a mental illness.
I still love the long cardigan over a high waist skirt, knee-high socks and Jeffree Campbell booties. Yes my taste hasn’t evolved past 2010 😅
Yessss cute! I totally bought a pair of the jeffrey campbell boots on poshmark after I made this video 😂
I’m here for it!
Many looks were iconic for a reason, the high waist circle skirt, a cute top/sweater and tights/knee high socks is still gorgeous
I can picture this outfit so clearly
I don't think long shirts, leggings or skinny jeans, and knee high boots will ever go out of style even though they aren't stylish. It's now just sort of an everyday "uniform" women wear because it's easy, comfortable and appropriate for most casual situations. @@rcsavedbygrace That's awesome!!🙏🏻❤️It's so freeing to be wearing what you love!
I love tunics and leggings. I’m a teacher and the combination is so comfortable and works well for my job that requires me to move all the time. I am also someone who bloats and tunics are very forgiving and comfortable for that!

Woo, haven't thought about Love's Baby Soft in years! You are definitely of the same vintage that I am.😂
Loves baby soft ❤❤
Good thing about old clothes is they dont seem to „not be in trend“ anymore bc its already so long ago 😅 if that makes sense
I have recently been learning to love not just thrifted, but vintage clothes 💖 Estate sales are an amazing source! I just got a wool skirt from the 80's that's so warm and well-made and a really classic piece. I could go buy something really similar for $180, I got it for $5 and love it!

I think y2k fashion has come back. You’re back on trend!
trends come and go; style is more personal and enduring
I'm still circa 2016 and I am struggling to find "normal" and "basic" clothes nowadays. This video alone is a subscription from me!
Exactly! Trends are mostly for designers to make money! We can wear what we want, and we should. Your style should be yours, and not what someone trying to sell you something is saying. You’ll know if it is working by how you feel.

Awe thats sweet, and yes! Whatever makes you happy!
New subscriber ❤ love your personality and totally agree with you!!😊
Well said, we should wear what we want. I'm still wearing skinny jeans with boots. I don't care if they say they are not in 'fashion'!
Thank you so much for your video. I am 64 years old and some things I really wearing regardless if theyre in style. As long as it looks flattering then go with it. Please make more videos like this❤
Still loving skinny jeans and infinity scarves. Skater skirts feel too young for me now that im no longer in my teen years...
Er du norsk?!?

Yep born and raised in Sandnes! Moved to the states when I turned 21 :).
😅 somebody needed to say it!! and i stay getting compliments in ALL of my tunics lol!
thank you so much for making this video.✨

I swear if you wait long enough what was once trending years ago will be trending once again not that it matters to me. I wear whatever I feel good in and and is comfortable really.
I wear leggings and boots! Love that look.
Yes, super cute!
I would love leopard and camo to have a fall moment!!
Hopefully next year!
I'm still waiting for capris to make their big comeback! They're so easy to wear when you live in a state where weather is all over the place. Plus I'm a person who loves the Y2K aesthetics overall because they're very flattering on me! : )
I'm sure they will come back around again!
I wear these through the winter with tights, boots and a blazer or chunky sweater.
No need to wait for them - wear them whenever you want !
Great topic for a video, glad you gave some of these fashions their due.

Totally agree with your video, wear what you like.
This was fun to watch! Camo (specifically hunting camo prints) has actually been trending a lot in alternative fashion
I love the pumpkin girl look! agreed!
Now you have me shopping for tunics! 😂 I agree, wear what you like. ❤
TRUTH! Wishing you and your channel abundance and success 😊
Thank you so much!
A huge YES! Wear what makes you happy! ❤
I think when you’re young you can wear what you want whether it’s trendy or not. When you get to be my age which is 68. I tend to be more classic and minimal. I think it suits you. I am now I try to stay current and modern with my accessory’s. My wardrobe really is very classic.😊

I love your makeup/hair look!!:) Very early 80's!!:)💖 (My era) lol:)
Thank you!

I love skater skirts and dresses!

YES FALL OUTFIT FORMULAS ❤
I miss colorful skinny jeans, too!
Theyre so much fun!

Love the colors and style of your blouse, totally my vibe!
Thank you! I have way too many of these tops 😂
I still skinny jeans and they will never go out of style for me and exactly what else am I going to wear all my cute boots and uggs with in the fall and winter? I have a pair of boot cut and flare those and wear them when I can I still think they are really fun in the fall. Love infinity and thigh high boots too.
Haha totally, I should have added uggs to the list as well! Theyre like walking on clouds, I dont care how 'ugly' people think they are 😂
@@AnnettesFashionCorner Omg seriously they are the warmest most comfortable shoes ever idc what anyone says I wear them every winter. 😂
Here is my answer to this for 23/24's cold season:
One of the big run-way trends for this year was pants under dresses and skirts.
Welcome, happy to have you! So true about the tunics looking like dresses, can relate 😂
Camo makes me feel badass too! And loving skater skirts too.
Thank you for this video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
SNAPS 😆You're so right, gurl!!!
Thank you!!
Amen! Wear what you like💜
Tell it sister. Love this!
Some say skinny jeans are coming back. But I too like to wear what I like
I love button down shirts and I think they’re always in style.
Totally agree, theyre a staple for me as well, even tho I dont always wear them in the most traditional ways lol
At 38, I'm not a college student finding my style. Nor am I cosplaying other people (which felt gross in the 2000's, and feels more gross now).
I shop vintage and thrift stores, and colorful skinny jeans are definitely my vibe.
Cheers!
Absolutely, wear what makes you happy and feel good!
I will always love and wear the pumpkin spice latte girl look. Living in Florida when it finally gets cool enough to wear a scarf and boots I am the first one to celebrate.
Hear hear 😆
i still like and wear the longer (like between hip and knee length-ish) chunky cardigans. with leggings.
Hahah isnt it? I got the pillowcase on amazon a few years ago 😆
YES, skinny jeans are the BEST with boots.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that, as long as you enjoy what youre wearing! :D
I have always worn stuff I like and if it's in trend it's a bonus 😊. Fall & winter outfit formulas would be great
Hit the nail on the head. I'm still wearing my skinny jeans
I'm loving your green eye shadow!
Thank you!
You can find those heels in the thrift store, I see them there from time to time
I have old fashion formulas that I still wear. Long cardigan or plaid Shacket with leggings or skinny jeans and knee boots yup. Always looks smart and very comfy
Cute! I'll have a video with my fav fall outfit formulas up hopefully tomorrow!
Yes on fall outfit videos
I love my skinny jeans, Ugg boots & long cartigans. 🤷🏻♀️☺️ Thank you for this video!! 😊
I have a gorgeous, elegant, creme colored infinity scarf that I’m wearing. It’s so special and I’ll do what makes me happy.
That sounds lovely!
The Z people can rip my flannel shirts, knee boots and skinny jeans out of my ancient cold dead hands 😂🧟
Hahaha totally!
shorty here 5'2 totally agree
I wanted the Jeffrey Campbell boots so badly ! I still would wear them for a special occasion now for sure.
7:56 woah you really predicted this one
I was obsessed with color skinny jeans back in the day! So much so that I never want to see them again 😂 but I do love a skater skirt!
Hahaha yeah I think a lot of people feel the same way
