  • Joel Korte of Chase Bliss Audio drops by the store to show off his latest creation, The Spectre Analog Flanger, while Andrew mistakes the pedals association with the new James Bond movie. Also making an appearance are a few beautiful guitars, including the Gibson Custom Shop Collectors Choice #22 Tommy Colletti Les Paul Custom and a James Trussart Steel O Matic, a trusty Fender Vibrolux combo, the Earthquaker Devices Fuzz Master General, and the Dunlop Volume (X) Pedal.
    We think Joel explains it best:
    Through-zero and back again. Many decades ago, it is rumored that a certain, infamous “Spectre” created the effect we’ve all come to know as flange by putting a finger on a set of identical tape recorders, slightly altering the speed of one of the recorders. Through-zero flanging is an incredibly rare and inspiring effect, especially in the analog domain. By using two delay lines (as opposed to just one), Spectre can cross over the elusive “zero point.” This through-zero flanger pedal features an all-analog signal path that can be dialed in to create any amount of subtle and wacky flange tones. Spectre also boasts an impressive array of chorus and vibrato tones. Further, every knob and switch is connected to a little digital brain while your guitar signal stays 100% analog the entire time and never gets digitally processed. Since the control of the effect is digital, it opens up unprecedented effects and features that have never been heard or offered in analog stompboxes.
    However you spin it, this pedal (unsurprisingly) rules.

    I'm really glad I checked out this video -- not just for the pedal, but to learn about Joel Korte and his speech impediment. I, too, am a musician that stutters. It's a constant struggle. It can be embarrassing at times, and even humiliating. He has a lot of courage for going out and being a part of this video. Hats off to Joel! Keep on rocking, brother!

      +Chase Bliss Audio Kudos to ya man, way back when I bought a warped vinyl I watched your instructional videos for it and was so impressed that yougot up there and did your thing, I had a stutter when I was a kind, mostly went away in my teens, I know how it can feel. Also, I've always really liked Mel Tillis! lol

    He truly takes the idea of whichever effect he's working on(delay, tremolo, flanger, etc.) to the 99th degree! And then says, hey we can add even more, and does it, without having digital menus, settings, etc. The only problem I see is, how can he top his own pedals? Love my Gravitas!

      @@Zwidawurzn XD. 2 years have passed since I made this statement and nope, in fact I had to get rid of more stuff to pay the bills since. So yeah, I guess I am still in the market for a chorus pedal as soon as I can. Chase Bliss are fantastic but a bit too expensive. I am looking into the Boss CE2 Waza or Walrus Julia but if I could afford this one, sure, it's still on the list. But do check out those out.

    Does this pedal have a continuous cycle when the pedal is disengaged so you can click on and off and get the up the down effect ala "unchained"? Looking for an alternative pedal for the MXR, basically an MXR without the volume loss when engaged.

      The reason it's so pricey is because it's so customizable you can get so many unique tones out of all of the Chase Bliss pedals. They also have Midi functionality which aslo isn't cheap.

    This pedal sounds great, causing one to experiment and create new and exciting sounds from existing patterns. Imagine doing scales....then slides on the scales....then chords, slides, scales. I can see just getting lost in the sounds as you play. You'll never practice guitar again, you'll always be playing guitar.

    yep they fit hundreds of options on this flanger and this pedal is "analog" not DIGITAL why do people lie about this pedal being analog it obviously not if you are expert in electronic and you can save and recall presets not digital at all

    • @tannerslice9717
      @tannerslice9717 7 лет назад

      Ethan Yong I am honestly having trouble understanding if you're calling this analog or digital, but to clarify just in case: the sounds are FULLY ANALOG, but the CONTROLS are digital. It's a relatively new concept in pedals and amps but it's not the craziest tech in the world.

    • @ethanyong7171
      @ethanyong7171 7 лет назад

      I don't know how much you know about electronics but I am aware the controls are digital however if you are saving presets they are saved in a digital chip and if you want to get a preset you NEED to go through the digital circuitry and access the preset knobs otherwise there is no way of bringing back or even storing the preset. The preset knobs adjust the variable resistance thus controlling the parameters and like I said if this pedal uses presets than the digital chip needs to store it's own resistance and then when recalled run the resistance through the analog component thus making the flanging song you so desire. So therefore it does enter a digital chip. And besides you don't see the knobs automatically moving so it is not stored in the Analog knobs. And anyways I am not saying digital is bad I think digital is really useful and what people don't understand is Digital is Analog the only difference is Analog follows a circuit path while digital (computers) remember and store things. So there is nothing wrong but I don't like how they've said oh the sound is "completely" analog even though there are little bits. I don't have a problem with this but I see everyone else stressing about digital stuff that's why other people will be the ones to complain if they knew the truth
