I did plenty of separation. He didn't go get help and it got worst over 15 years. The best thing I did was divorced him and leave for good for me and my children. There were drugs, cheating, lying, porn addiction, abandonment and so much more. I am looking at my very best state of peace and joy just loving me and taking care of me so I can better love and care for my children.
Many abusers will not accept that they are the problem. My ex husband never apologized and always deflected the blame onto me. He would not talk about his family except to say how perfect his father was.
I think they’re speaking of one gender as a generality (for ease of conversation) that can be applied to both genders, they obviously know that there are abusive women and the abuse is just as real and damaging.

It’s the exact same from a moral standpoint.
Abuse is wrong from either the man or the woman.
A lot of the lazy covert narcs were not always in abusive households. They were just spoiled by their parents and never held accountable.
