  • In 1998 Troy Neel and his first wife got divorced for the final time. She tried to make him pay child support, and that started the decade-long saga of baseball's worst deadbeat dad.
But just how was he able to do this? Well, let's take a brief dive into his career.

Wild seeing a video of my dad haha. Yes, he was a deadbeat. But my sister and I are on good terms with him now for what it's worth

      Good to know.
I hope y'all are doing well. Sorry if I seemed a bit harsh in this vid
I actually have your dad's jersey, which I picked up at a second hand store in Kobe a few years ago. I'm planning on wearing it to a game at Hotto Motto next year if I get the opportunity.

Says a lot about the kind of person you are if you're willing to give your dad a chance tp make things up and be in your life. Life is extremely short, you had a legit reason to be upset with him, but you forgave him and chose to have a relationship with your dad rather than be mad at him for the rest of his life and regret not reconciling. Good on you, brother, I'm happy to hear this. As a dad I know I've made my share of mistakes and there's many things I wish I could do over

You have a good heart. My dad did something similar but we are also on good terms and don't have an axe to grind with him. Life is too short to be hating parents you're related to.

I was gonna say something like, “This is a certified Antonio Cromartie moment.”
But Antonio at least pays his child support… Ol Nealy never did.

Honestly amazing non biased story telling. You can tell cause him and his son both commented in support lol. Keep up with content like this. Learning about NPB through your channel and Yakyu has made it so fun. It’s like a whole world of baseball I didn’t know existed until this past summer lol.

Always love seeing this channel come up for stories like this. Things I’d never have known about and now I too know of the deadbeat dad baseball person.

The one thing I took away from this is that as an American? I could theoretically move to Vanuatu.

Interesting spin on myself and the story. Never ever played organized basketball lol. If you would like the story and some real facts hit me up. I enjoyed the video!!

Hmm, that's odd, looks like I got screwed by some japanese wikipedia graffiti then. I wasn't the only one, because I saw a couple Japanese articles on baseball blogs also stating that.
Sorry if I went a little hard on you man, I obviously don't know the specifics and worked off what I had available to me. Glad to know you enjoyed it at least 😅

..I one-handed a foul ball from him in Oakland back in the 90's and still have the American League ball... I was wondering whatever happened to him, lol...

Does your child support change if you salary does?
