David Chang: "your palate is so sophisticated, international, nuanced..."
Padma Lakshmi: NACHOS WIDDA CHEEBS FOUNTAIN
lmfaoooo
Bruh did not know his own friend well lol
I love how this interaction demonstrates that people can love comfort foods while also having a refined palate. It's her last meal, of course she wants comfort.
@@JohnBrownsBody64920 ik why is she me?
Nachos in fountain form ARE the most sophisticated, international and nuanced way to eat them lol😂
Last Meal is approaching Hot Ones level of internet renown, you love to see it
We need a collab.
This
I would argue it's a better overall show, so I love to see it getting more recognition
This is WAY better. Josh is so good at engaging and making feel comfortable.
Yeah, either Josh on Hot Ones or Sean here would be a great watch.
How does Padma manage to be so classy and elegant and yet so down-to-earth and relatable?
She is acting...
@@kmf8542 Then she's very good at it and I still applaud her.
Exactly!! I'm old but we want to be like her!
Men just want to be with her... She had her only child at 39 after being told she couldn't have children. I always hoped this would happen to me and my husband. No such luck but we had wonderful years together anyway.
Josh kept it together and didn't fall apart they connected as equals, shoutouts to Nicole must have meant a lot to her too!! She's not trying to impress anyone, she's herself and does that very well all of us could take a lesson from her.
XO Lesley
(Mythical Old Bat)
She's not acting
Lesley
Right?!?!
I will never not be in awe of Josh's ability to find his guests wherever they are. That's so hard to do on a consistent basis, but on this series, Josh makes a connection with everybody, regardless of how internationally famous they are.
I think it really shows that everyone is human, even if our society makes them seem like they're more.
He’s such a great listener I love watching these last meal videos they’re so fun
Josh is absolutely one of the top people on RUclips. He has so many multitudes. Really the best thing that ever happened to Mythical.
its almost like hot ones level sean
I have never heard Josh so silent. The epitome of a great jornalist.. Let your guest of honour speak. Padma has so much insight on food overall. What a treat.
On here his name is not "Josh" it is in fact "Psychiatrist Dr. Josh 'Beefcake' Scherer"
.
yes, he matched her vibe well
Padma raising the profile and awareness about endometriosis to a larger audience has been so impactful. Even just not having to explain “what is that?” to almost everyone you mention it is helpful.
It’s amazing! I have endometriosis and PCOS. Not enough people know about it. Yet, SO many women struggle with these things.
I wasn't aware of her activism but it's really cool to learn about
Yes! I love how she said she was MAD about it. I had a similar experience, doctors just kept brushing me off as being dramatic. It wasn't until I was pregnant someone actually mentioned endometriosis to me for the first time, I just didn't know. I wish someone had really listened to me, it could have saved so much pain over 10+ years.
Yes, thank you Padma!! I'm an endo girl (ugh💃) and really struggling with a regrowth after excision surgery in 2020. I desperately hoped the surgery would change my life but it only helped for a few months. Now my Endo is growing again and my periods and my pain are completely different. I'm getting used to a chronic illness all over again and it has been really rough. I'm now back to calling out of work at the beginning of every period. It's an expensive and frustrating illness.
@@emilyhendrickson8442 I had the same experience! Had a female doctor tell me to "man up" because women "have pain and you need to get used to it". I was only 16. It infuriates me now looking back on my shy teenage self.
Padma has best friend energy. I just wanna hang out and talk about dumb stuff, and then somehow end the conversation on a deep philosophical note.
She speaks like a 90 year old.
She would keep up with you all the way!She is wicked cool. xo
Mythical Old bat
Lesley
I absolutely adore her. She’s such an amazing, beautiful soul. Love her… I’m so happy to have two of my favorite people together sharing things about their shared passions.
I said “she is so cool” out loud so many times already and the video’s only half over. Padma is such an inspiration, such a deep thinker, so compassionate and well-spoken. ❤
I'm a bed eater and was so ashamed of it! But if someone as glamorous as Padma Lakshmi does it, why not me! Thank you Padma!
I'd rather fist fight a gorilla than eat at a table 😂
Ha! I’m in bed eating hot and spicy fried pork rinds and wondering if they could be used as a scoop, and for what 😹
She is so classy, and so elegant. Very well spoken, and never has an heir of arrogance at all.
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
“and when i turned to face grief, i saw that it was just love in a heavy coat” - shannon barry
Thank you for speaking of Cambodian immigrants with such respect. I have family in Lowell and it meant so much to see it again
Wow. The section she talked about grief really really hit me in my soul. I've been through so much grief in such a short amount of time these past few years. So grateful to be introduced to Padma through this show
It's amazing that Josh can be so chaotic with some guests and so chill with others!
I love that karamo pointed out josh eats when hes uncomfortable. You can spot it everytime now lol
I was not ready for the Josh’s Gujarati experience! omg!
Ikr! He said Rotli Shaak so clearly
@Sharthak Thakkar Yeah, he is also a great fan of Modi. He thinks that Modi is the only one who can relieve India of its colonial burden.
You just made that up. Josh never said that LOL
@@RoshanAntonyTauro What even is your reason for posting these weird comments? Does it just amuse you?
@@aaronsirkman8375 What's your disorder called?
Padma is truly just as well-spoken and intelligent as she is beautiful. What an incredible woman.
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
Where are the 17 cups of tea? I was lied to in her Food Diaries video?!
Also, congrats on getting Padma. This is epic!
Man, Josh just coming through with some great interview skills
I almost cried listening to Ms. Laksmi. Its people like her that will inspire our future generations, no matter what it is they would like to do in life. Really great guest.
What a well-spoken, articulate, intelligent, caring individual. This episode was just *chef's kiss* ❤️
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
Padma just made me cry. She was talking about the loss of her lover and how she was lost in her grief. She was about to say for how long and I thought about absolutely having no memories of the 2 years after my Dad died. When she said her lost time was 2 years too it made the tears come. It made me feel so much more normal.
Your guest lineup just keeps getting better and better, I’m so proud of the Mythical Kitchen and how you’ve grown and what you’ve built 😍
She is a hero and an icon. Her work and amplification of others' work is so needed.
This has got to be one of my favorite conversations on this channel. Josh is such a great listener, so open and kind. And Padma is so open, well spoken and so elegant in the way she carries herself. I cannot wait to read her book now.
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
I lost my husband after only 2 years and her words about losing love hit me so hard 💔 beautifully said ❤
aw.. best to you, friend, big condolences and wishing the best in happiness & healt to you & yours.. i have such a tough time losing just a pet, but losing my husband -- i can't imagine. keep on living life for him and being your mythical best 🤍 be safe!
@@PaulMeranda thank you 🥰 that's so sweet of you. I'm sorry for your loss
@@amyduncker4097 and also to you. our pets lived very happy lives so i try not to lose my emotions too often when i think about it.. life is a strange thing, but its sure nice we have this big community of such warm individuals to share our feelings with when we need to 🙂
By now you know that he’s always with you, though it’s not at all the same. My sincere condolences. Do keep yourself open to love , whatever is best for you. Sending healing vibes.
Never heard of her before but I loved this episode just the same. This show can't ever stop because it's honestly one of my favorite series right now
OMG! I just discovered you Josh. Literally the second video I've seen from you. And I'm subscribing. I'm Gujarati and your pronunciation of rotli and shaaq is SPOT ON! I'm a fan already!
Welcome! Mythical Kitchen is a treat to watch :)
Oh my goodness, Padma talking about honoring your own grief and emotions is so insightful
She was such an incredible guest.
As someone who experienced a lot of deaths in my life, her discussion about grief really resonated with me. I will definitely carry the line, “Grief is love’s shadow,” with me moving forward-what a profound statement.❤
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
So Padma and Gail have both been on mythical kitchen shows, we’re ready Tom Colicchio!
I had never heard of Padma Lakshmi but I'm glad I know of her now. This was very interesting. Thanks for another great video.
Not sure who writes the questions, whether that's Josh or a writer for mythical kitchen but regardless Josh does such a great job in a interview format.
I must add, Padma is a badass.
Josh, very respectful and open and intelligent.👍🏾
It seems love to nerd down in food trivia and food culture influetnture's hisroties' seems absolutely normal. He cares and want to know about peoples culinary journey and it has impacted their lives.
Padma is someone I have so much respect for. She is absolutely incredible and Josh mirrored her energy so perfectly. Josh is such a goof but matched her levity, respected her, laughed with her, and made her burst out laughing. One of the best episodes yet!
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
Oh my f*cking gawd. You got PADMA LAKSHMI!?! Amazing!
I love the smaller details of this, like the closeup shots of them taking food, and the moments of conversation with no music behind. I love being human and I love humanness; I just think these videos portray a great endearing side of being alive and talking with people. Thank you for videos like these :)
I never thought I'd hear Padma talk about Puerto Rico like that and it makes my diasporican heart sing. I already liked her for top chef and many other amazing things she does, but it's icing on the cake to hear her speak about the island too.
I already loved her, damn she made me love her more
Then you've never met her.
She is exquisite. Both internally and externally. Captivating, my goodness. I need a guided meditation from her and also just a sit down meal.
This somehow turned into the least expected, but greatest, therapy session of my life. Thank you
Wow. One of the best things I’ve watched in a long time. She is inspirational and an icon. Just loved this interview that felt like watching two people talking about great issues while eating delicious food :)
And I thought nothing would top the Tom Hanks episode, great job Mythical Kitchen.
It hasn't
Holy sh*t this is awesome. I love Padma. Can't believe so many people in the comments have never heard of her. Top Chef has 20 seasons LOL (not including spin-offs)
I don't have cable and haven't had cable since I was a child. XD I dont know anything about TV or most celebrities!
I think she started hosting during the 2nd season so that’s why they said 19 seasons!
lol watch the original gmm episode from 6 years ago and you’ll think otherwise.
Kettle chips with caviar? holy crap she's amazing
Wow!! I love hearing Padma's perspectives and Josh really brought us around to so many different but important topics, I'm starting to see the appeal of interviews!
What she said about grief reminded me when vision in the MCU said " What is grief if not love persevering. " It was great to watch this episode. Love it!!
Josh and crew, you are crushing it. These interviews are fantastic.
That entire conversation about grief was so profound. Could deeply relate. I feel ya, Padma!
was really deep. Made me think of Vision's line of "grief is love perservering" gave a lot more depth to the words.
This was one of my favorite episodes. The mythical crew did an amazing job. Josh knocked this interview out of the park and Nicole killed it on the dosas. I also now need Padma’s book.
My favorite thing about this show is that even if i have no idea who the guest is, the conversations always end up being so interesting and flow so well every episode
Love Padma and what she brings to the food world! I’ve loved seeing her evolve and become this powerhouse over the years since 1st getting to know about her in Top Chef season 2.
Padma is so sweet and thoughtful, I really like her thought-provoking mindset. I'm amazed how Josh and the MK team finds so many brilliant and wonderful minds that we would have never heard of otherwise!
I've not heard of this woman before, but she has enthralled me with her story and her beautiful way of speaking and made me think of things in a way that I haven't before, especially regarding grief and health. I think I need to hear that. Despite the fact I'm not into fiction especially autobiographies/memoirs, I think I 100% will be reading her book/s and listening to more interviews with her. She seems to have an amazing and kind soul, and despite her success still seems down to earth!
That Lowell shout-out!!! I'm gonna need to watch the show now 🤣
I have a younger cousin who was adopted from Cambodia, so I grew up eating some Cambodian food (mostly Cambodian chicken) and we had gone to the New Years festival in Lowell a bunch of times.
I am constantly impressed by Josh’s hosting ability and this series really works because of it
Josh, I didn't think I could enjoy your content any more than I already did but thank you for creating this series. Your approach to interviewing people about deep & complex topics in a way that's endearing, hilarious, & touching is exceptional. Please keep doing this 🖤
Fantastic episode! Y’all are knocking it out of the park with the guests this season… keep up the excellent work!
I saw the title and I was _shocked_ ...I remember that past gmm episode really riled some people in the comments, so I'm glad she's returned! Also what an honor for Josh and the team to be able to cook for a variety of such influential figures and to see them truly enjoy the experience
Currently watching season 20 of top chef, so its awesome seeing her here! Can never get enough Padma! Love this goddess SO much. She is so special. ❤️
Amazing guest! I've never heard her speak before and I'm in love. She is so strong and elegant and eloquent. I loved hearing about issues from her perspective.
Me, trying to pay attention to the intellectual conversation but my bird brain wants to focus on the cheese fountain and watch the cheese drip after it's turned off.
This was such a phenomenal episode! I feel like I learned so much just soaking up Padma's food/life wisdom.
Amongst how great this episode was in general, I LOVE how Padma's true love for food comes through. Not that other guests don't eat the food...but she really ATE and enjoyed. Love it 💛
I could listen to her talk all day! Not only the topics that interest her but her soothing voice. Such a fascinating person.
She narrates her own book on audible. 15 hours, and it just flies,
Dude. Josh. I was amazed when you got Tom Hanks to do Last Meals, but you got Padma Lakshmi? I have been a fan of hers for years, but her Taste the Nation show is absolutely amazing. I'd like to say that I'm surprised by her meal choices, but it shouldn't surprise anyone that she chose things like a nacho cheese fountain and caviar-topped Kettle chips. Thanks for another amazing episode! ❤
Such a fascinating, classy, thoughtful person. Perfection! Padma seems pretty interesting too.
This was so cool. I would never have the confidence to cook for her! Bravo everybody who did this!👏👏👏👏
I've loved Padma for years, and i'm glad she's here on this show with Josh - she has a great sense of humour and she's also intelligent and philosophical and can bounce back and forth, which is something I love about this series! Such a good fit, and such an interesting woman!
What an amazing speaker on life and death. I've never seen any of her prior work but what a pleasant person to witness. Im in my early twenties and all at once she made me more terrified and yet, so much more excited to be a father
Last Meal is a show I would be on. Josh does a good way to connect with his guests. He also shouts out the team, he doesn’t just take credit.
There’s a warmth to this show.
Bruh... That nacho machine sound... I could not figure out where the sound was coming from... Until I paused the video 😂
Damn, Padma?!? Swinging for the fences here, whose palate is more discerning than hers? Love her, though, she seems so down to earth despite her incredibly decorated life.
I love Padma. What a wholesome conversation ❤
Josh does amazing in these interviews. The respect and love both him and Padma have for food and culture literally makes me tear up. ❤
As a woman, this is the best interview I’ve ever seen ❤ makes me so happy❤ her view on life is the same as mine and she does deserve all the respect. Plus her food choices are boss lol

SHE IS A GODDESS. We need more conversations like this in public spaces. Grateful.
I was just wandering around your channel, cause I was on a diet and also for English language upgrade and then I just stumble upon this gorgeous fantastic woman I knew nothing about. And thank you for having her, what a discovery, what a combination of Intelligence, beauty and Compassion! My friend suffers from endometriosis, I was shocked when I realised how many women suffer in silence and just have no cure, no money for treatment and, most importantly, feel shame to share this, if they are in the "wrong" culture environment, where women are simply not supposed to speak of specific women's health problems in a family. Thank you, Padma, for being not afraid to speak out, thank you for the foundation.❤
Also the part about being "wrapped in grief" is so relatable
And it's a Great show, please go on❤ People open up emotionally when there is good food and smart conversation companion 😊
A beautiful realistic discussion of deep grieving. Thank you!
Padma spilling deepest thoughts about grief and Josh just crunching away on another kettle chip...haha. But seriously, great episode.
Great episode Josh. Thanks Padma for talking about endometriosis and for expressing your opinion on the las colony, though subjects.
Yeah! I’m lucky I’m getting to play catch up on these. So many great interviews. Looking forward to Padma’s interview. I have the kettle chips and sour cream, but not the toppings - but it’s definitely simple enough and doable (though a bit pricy :))
i love her concept of a travel food show based around family and the home. just makes sense
Wow!! Padma! You guys are seriously getting some amazing guests!
I can listen to Padma for hours! Such an interesting perspective on food that needs to stay on the air
This show keeps getting more and more incredible. Thank you Padma. This was deep and inspiring.
Love how she spoke about Puerto Ricans. Huge respect. Absolutely they're citizens.
OMG!!! My favorite shows are coming together and it’s amazing!!!!!
I've always had a crush on Padma. I think my cooking skill have to thank her because she kept me tuned into the cooking shows years ago. She also hasn't aged. She's amazing.
The more I see of Padma, the more I adore and respect her. You can tell she is a very strong person and she always speaks so eloquently and passionately. Her conviction is so true and heartfelt.
Using kettle chips is an amazing idea. definitely try that.
what brand of white sturgeon do you use.
Whaaat a beautiful interview. I’ve never seen Padma shine like this. He really did give her the space to shine.
Regardless of the guest, Josh’s giddy face when there is a plate of good food in front of him that he is about to eat never fails to delight. Good job, Nicole!
What a powerful and excellent episode. So so brilliant. 👏
She is just an amazing human being. The world needs more kind and just down to earth people like Padma
Padma is literally the best. Love her and everything she stands for so much 😍
i like how this episode is super detailed about foo. josh can share his expertise too
