I wasn't very confident at first but then just got stuck in. Followed Bens advice for the passenger side of my 407 and it was a success. Only one week since I done it but still ok. Thank you Ben for a very good and helpful video.

For anyone using this to fix their Peugeot I would like to add my comments. I have a 2008 2.0 TDI estate. There were 12 screws holding the glove box and it MUST come out to perform the fix. 4 along the top. Two in the rubber cushions, two down inside by the hinge and 4 underneath
The top motor does not need to come out - probably obvious but I removed it.
The motors have 5.5MM or 7/32 screws. I had 5mm and 6MM also had 3/16" and 4/16" - 1/4" sockets. NONE worked so I had to use bent needle nose pliers which worked but was a big pain in the ... - get a socket before you even start.
Hole has to be MUCH bigger the the hole that I saw in this video. Go up another 2cm than the glue line at the end of the video and right down below the bit of plastic that sticks out. On top of that I cut a small "V" shaped piece out just right of the drive shaft hole, but leave that until you are fighting the flap out and you can work it out yourself.
As for gluing back together, I first super glued the flap shaft together so it was easier to glue. Used the same method as Ben. I then glued all my pieces of plastic of plastic together ( hopefully you have made you hole big enough so you will not have to ) so it was just one piece I had to glue back into the car. I used 5 min two part epoxy which was very runny and if there is a stiffer product go for it. Darn stuff tries to drop every where., put paper underneath your work. I recommend tacking it in place ( just a couple of spots to hold it in place ) let it harden and this will free you hands to do a much better job. Just do not get glue anywhere near the shaft ( again obvious I guess )
But unbelievably - even though my job looks rubbish - it works - So thank you Ben.

Got the exact same car. Done pretty much everhthing u said but it only works from the defrost vent and very rarely from the front and lower vents. Its been such a good car for over 310k miles and now this shit 😕

    • @davidlines4264

@@dpayne8611 Just confirming when you activate the vent control, the motor activates. If it does the shaft should turn. Take the motor off and manually turn the shaft. If it turns, and the motor activates then then the problem is elsewhere.

Tried this last year as both sides broken on my 407. Passenger side done... works perfectly. It is fiddly and frustrating cutting the plastic initially and it took a few attempts with different saw bits. Altogether with the right tools should be only 2-3 hours effort in total. Compared to a quote of 1k + for a whole new heater box.

WOW!!! That’s proper thinking outside the box! Love the fix! 👍🏻

thanks for the video i did the same to mine today works great
just want to add a note i think one of the reasons mine broke was it was very stiff to rotate in the hole so i sanded it with very fine wet and dry then greased it with some brake grease (for the high temps) it moves freely now i will just wait and see how long it lasts

Doing this now at the moment, very handy guide. My flap is broken EXACTLY in the same shape as this but that's probably nothing new to anybody! Messy fucking job alright. When I finish the passenger side I'll wait a few days for the cuts on my hands to heal up before I tackle the drivers side. I used a dremel for most of it and a hacksaw blade for the rest and popped the last few bits with a flathead screwdriver. I didn't fully cut the bottom left corner so I could 'hinge' it out without fully removing the piece. Also had to remove more from the top right and bottom right corners to get the flap out.

Good clue. Servo you can adjust by using temperature button just connect servo to the slot, turn on engine and press button, servo will be turning to required position

How do I know that I'm installing the new flap in the correct angle/setting on the motor?

Thanks. Great tutorial. I'll be doing this to my 407. One question though.... you mention that the plastic you cut out initially wasn't a big enough hole to get the broken flap out. I'd like to cut it in one piece; can you advise how I should make the cut bigger than the 'highlighted' bit in your photo? Should I make the cut wider or longer? If longer, should I make it longer cutting more out at the top or bottom? Cheers.

Hi Ben. you have a West Midlands accent, so I'm assuming you are reasonably local to Dudley. with this in mind....would you be able to repair mine....exactly same model, exactly same symptoms....if so would you be able to give me a quote? I'm too much of a coward to attempt myself. if not do you know anyone who would.? Regards mark,

i broke it a second time, the cause is the motor,. next time i will unpluged it and move with hand (two or tree times by year)

dude, it's so much easier to remove the screws and make everything into pieces rather than cutting a hole in the box... took me 5 mins.

or..buy a plug in car heater from eBay for a tenner.

  • @DurkoppFordertechnic

Once you've fixed the heater diverting flap, you can then change the fading display, faulty abs sensors, noisy dual mass flywheel, constant beeping bulb faults when no bulb has failed oh and knocking bottom hub bearings. I've never owned such a crap car

    • @michaeletc
      @michaeletc 4 года назад +1

You've nailed it!!!! Had every single of those problems (no bulb was crap earth to cluster both sides!). Mind you, the car has done 430 thousand miles.....
