I think the most questionable selection was the decision to stick with Warner for an extra summer and then be unwilling to pick a specialist opening batsman. Bancroft's domestic form probably justified another opportunity, but they instead moved Smith up to open because they wanted to accommodate both Green and Marsh. I think that was some confused thinking, and it has contributed to the current indecision around the opening spot.
Succession plans should of began with Warner should of turned around and said "No mate you don't get to choose your retirement fuck off." and have a whole test summer + the New Zealand tour to test out openers we wasted Bancroft's peak and in that time we could of tested Bancroft, Renshaw, Harris (to my disgust), Jewell, Ward we had the openers scoring runs. There is an issue of no amazing players in their late 20s at the moment but this is something that should of been considered last year when we knew this would be an issue, I've been saying since our last tour to Sri Lanka get together an A Squad with Green in the mix (this was before the injury) and send them on an A tour of Sri Lanka Renshaw, Bancroft, McSweeny, Green, Ollie Davies, Webster, Pierson, Harper, Inglis, O'Neill, Murphy, Rochicholi, Sutherland, Swepson, Viddler, Khunemann, Richardson, Konstas, Hardie would all benefit from a testing series in Sri Lanka where we can test out them in different conditions where alot of them wouldn't of played before it'd be a great learning experience with a few guys namely Bancroft, Inglis, Renshaw providing some experience to lead the group. obviously with injuries and that it's a bit tough now but this should of happened long ago and we were genuinely wasting time by not doing something like this we needed to invest in hte younger players and the very few players who are in the wings of the squad already because come 5 years we are FUCKED
I've been saying 3 weeks ago, Mc sweeny is not an Opener. He is a middle order bat. This is where Selectors lost their brain while selecting Test Team.
He scored back to back 50s in Australia A game when the others didn't perform. They just went off form it made sense at the time since he bats 3 for redbacks at the moment and had been getting in early anyways
Responding to the question on who should be in the team; Sam Konstas Usman Khawaja (retires after the BGT) Steve Smith Nathan McSweeney Travis Head Beau Webster Alex Carey Pat Cummins (c) Mitchell Starc Nathan Lyon Scott Boland
@@himanshupal6083 whats the point of Khawaja going to SL? his 38 and his form is falling off a cliff, it's time to start thinking of the future. Theres no way you bring a 39 year old Khawaja into next years ashes unless he scores a bunch of runs the rest of the BGT. Use the final 2 tests and 2 test in Sri Lanka to see who has the goods before the ashes next year.
Batting smudge at 3 won't work at all, and Green has that #4 spot as soon as Smudge retires. Best bet for McSweeny is to become a good opener, or he won't see a test spot again for a long time.
Ridiculous to suggest dropping Gill, he is tearing the house down with the bat, averaging high 60's with a century and 2 fifties ao far ... what a load of bollox
Can we please clip and post the dog off the pitch tale so I can share far and wide with every single person with a remote appreciation for cricket?… Sitting in mid Monday afternoon traffic like every man and his dog (pun intended, probably not a pun by definition), and I was absolutely pissing myself 😂😂😂
I think Konstas would've been a fair choice at the start of the series, but at this point he's missed 3 games where he could've at least seen Bumrah bowl and figured out how to play him. Can't see him getting many more runs than McSweeny has and I'd imagine he'll be facing fewer balls, which ultimately exposes the middle order. Gonna be big pressure on him here
Khawaja averaging 104 at the SCG in tests and his use in the Sri Lanka tour vs spin probably saved him if he can’t perform in those matches he has to be dropped and I hope that McSweeney gets the opportunity to step back in again. Marsh not being dropped despite not bowling and not performing with the bat when Webster is batting well in shield plus did well vs India A in addition to being able to bowl effective pace and off spin is a head scratcher.
The behavior of some Indian cricketers in Australia has been disappointing. We used to be known for players with grace and humility, like Dravid, Sachin, and Laxman. But now, there’s a growing perception that we come across as arrogant, with comments and behaviours from guys like Gambhir, Siraj, Jadeja, and Kohli this series. It’s great to be passionate, but we need to strike a balance and maintain the dignity that earlier legends stood for.
bro do you even know what happened . I actually thought that's what Cummins was doing at the time, after Bumrah running through the top order he thought there's not enough time to lose this game so we'll make it look like we're setting a target 😂😂
On selections, Bailey and the other selectors do make the hard decisions. It’s just that those do not look like the right decisions! The ends do justify the means, but that means Australia have to win in the end! Forgetting the Warner call and dealing with the reality of now, I’d have kept McSweeny and dropped Marsh for Webster.
Khawaja can't go on to next year's ashes when he turns 39, if he wants his home farewell he should take it next week. Reductive to place Smith and Khawaja in the same boat when the latter is 2.5 years older and has scored 4000 less runs for Australia
It’s a weird societal thing, where we have bloke with stick yelling at bloke with domesticated animal about walking on grass that bloke with stick looks after and spends more time with than any of family etc but groundsman was in the right and you should have known better
I have to admit as an Indian that the Indian cricketers are not conducting themselves very well with the Australian media and it is all making us look very bad.
Serious question, does your Indian sponsor restrict you guys from talking about Pakistan? FYI they're smashing it hard! Can't believe you guys are not even allowed to speak about Saim Ayub 🤨

India wins 3-1, no way aussie quicks can keep indian bats quiet for 4 consecutive test matches and no way aussie top order survives bumrah for next two tests
Mcsweeny did his job, facing the new ball and averaging 14.4, Marsh averaged 13.8 and Khawaja averaging 12.6. Webster is right there
That's it how many run he scored, what's his average, 😂😂
Khawaja's average across all career tests against India is 28.9. lmao
Drop the Queenslander!!! Same old story
Lamb (mcsweeney) gets offered to the wolf (bumrah) and gets eaten. Farmer decides to offer another lamb to the wolf 😅

Maybe this is an elobrate ad in preparation for Australia day, Sam Kekovic in for the Sydney test
The wolf will eat more lamb soon. 😂
