important to note. on NON-K intel cpus: if you disable c-states you lose your single core turbo boost and it will only achieve the all-core turbo as maximum.
example, i7-12700: will only boost to 4500 instead of single core maximum boost of 4900 ... that is a BIG difference if you need single core boost (for example in games with single render thread, which are most games)

42:21 for those wondering what "weird" mouse glitches could possibly mean: For me I set my mouse to single digit (7 decimal) and everything went fine BUT if I plucked in (or out) any USB device (not the mouse itself), my left and right click won't work anymore even though my cursor still moved fine. Fixed by restarting and it only did it in this specific circumstance. Just to give an example what "weird" means.

Interesting food for thought here. I've been tweaking DPC/ISR for years, and I never found the Interrupt Policy Tool ever resulted in better performance despite LatencyMon measurements suggesting it would. But this video does make me want to investigate it again. I'm already achieving excellent DPC/ISR measurements, but any type of improvement is interesting to me still.

I also am not a serial commenter on YT, I could count them all on two hands. But I am here right now to tell Neo thank you. I was ready to do my annual Windows 10 clean install when I came across this tutorial. After the install, and some of the tweaks mentioned here, I am pleased to report that my PC has since, for the first time, been 100% free of audio glitches, video stuttering and it just feels so smooth and unrestricted. I am still running an AMD FX8350 circa 2012 and it needs all the help it can get. I stopped after the power plan mods, so there's probably more benefits to be had from this very well presented and thought out tutorial. Great job.

When comes to pc stuff I'm very enthusiast I used to do a bunch of tweaks back in 2014, but everything started with a nice topic from steam forums in 2009 with (Cs isn't smooth) Counter Strike isn't smooth then since that day I started to notice this thing called visual lag, like the game is not smooth even at 200fps, so yeah this bring me nostalgia this type of videos, those tweaks may be like "placebo" but they aren't they actually helps when comes to press a key and less input, best reaction time, better audio, less ghosting etc, etc.
But now I would also recommend you to pay attention to the electricity in your house, like check for dirty electricity, the EMI/RFI, grab a oscilloscope check the bar of the frequency if its stable or if its has a big wave, if its has a wave means there is to much dirty in the line, so you can always but power conditioner, check your circuit breaks etc, etc.
So once the circuit breaker, all outlets are clean from electricity, next steep is to go wired instead of Wifi, as the wifi EMI from router affect not only your health but the computer part.
same situation with RFI from big antennas, there is a lot of info there about how to buy this type of sprays or materials that you put on walls or windows to reduce/cease the contamination by electromagnetic stuff, so this will at the end give you a sleep quality, improve huge your gameplay
Hope this helps, i used to do a lot of tweaks.
thanks for refreshing me with this video.
PS: I do apologies for my English, cheers.

Settings affinities for individual USB devices will do nothing. In order to effectively bind your mouse or any other USB input to a core you need to bind the USB Host Controller itself, usually named USB eXtensible Host Controller. Just setting HID-compliant mouse is pure placebo. You can check if the affinities have been set properly by using latencymon or xperf by observing the usage of that core when shaking the mouse. Also it is ideal that you have your mouse does not share the same USB controller with other devices esp if it is 4khz above.

Hyper threading- improve parallelization of computations, meaning it is for better performance doing multiple tasks at once. Also any CPU made today each core has a SMT core tied to it. this was a fix for the buggy creation engine games ( since morrowind ) Today's games will take full advantage of hyper threading.

    • @vulturex3265
      @vulturex3265 9 месяцев назад

Most High End CPU will still run faster with Hyperthreading off. Intel not AMD - Hyper threading on my cpu will overheat quickly and start down clocking from 5800 to 5500 then to 5300 while gaming, but with Hyperthreading off I can boost all cores to 5600 and the system runs cooler and faster with no stuttering do to down clocking.

    • @vulturex3265
      @vulturex3265 9 месяцев назад

I can set all cores to 5600 and game for hours with no downclocking, if you do this with hyperthreading on your system will downclock because it can only run boosted for a minute or so while gaming then your down and upclocking begins causing micro stutters. This is while playing Apex Legends or Titanfall 2....

I wasted 2 hours figuring this out, and I had just recently did some of the tweaks (so my memory is fresh), I'm sure someone wouldn't think this could cause such an issue if he forgot that he did these tweaks.

Default ehat its set is best, ,so called "overclocking mouse and k3yboard" dosent exist this queue regedit is useless and always messes things up, And do not set ein32 priority! Leave it dwfault, default is usually for programs and games, its the best value if you set something like 16 in this video youre just gona experience stutters...

0:32 point of Dynamic tick, "to reverse", thats wrong
the right one is "bcdedit /deletevalue disabledynamictick"
HPET isn't the Timer in standard for Windows, that shows only that "useplatformclock" isn't set by standard
you can check if you get "bcdedit /enum" in CMD
it is okay that the device in device manaer is installed and not deactivated, because program can use it if they want, but it should not set as standard timer for Windows
If bad standardrivers or whatever you have hpet as standardtimer for windows then is it right to set "bcdedit useplatformclock no"
but if you get to the bootsettings "disabledynamitick yes" it is another option than of "useplatformclock yes/no"
4:05 "high precision event timer" it's not a good way to disable it, problems wasn't ther but it's over, if you have realtime intensive programs its in most way better they can use it, if it wants to use it, they don't want it without reason
if you had Realtime problems you can use "timerbench" and check if it is really the problem
    27:48
no, max fps to 3 frames under your hz from the monitor and instead of ultra to on... (you don't need vsync against tearing)
power management to "normale" about RTX 3000, RTX 2000 and before to adaptive...
28:53 explorer.exe isn't 3dmode, its not opengl and no DirectX API, it's GDI... xD
31:03 some very old games have problems with that, all other is placebo-effect
34:12 thats not drivers, that the bios himselve... i'm not wondered if you don't understand the function of CPU and GPU, with wrong settings you show to optimize, you don't know too which way the complete PC get in function with the bios *facepalm* xD

This is the most extensive, inclusive video on this subject matter that I've seen. And I've seen a lot. I've been working on solving my DPC latency issues for a year now, with no luck. Thank you NeoFirox, so much. Although I still have failed at solving this, at least I know I've tried everything. Great Video. Great work. I have a Dell xps 8950 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-12900K 64GB RAM, Windows 11 Home Version (Build) 22H2 (10.0.22621) and I'm "pretty sure" the motherboard has the latest drivers, but I am at my wits end with trying to solve this. The only thing I have not tried yet are the Registry tweaks. That scares me. Thanks NeoFirox.

    Enable HPET in BIOS.
    Run CMD as Admin.
Copy & past the following BCDEdits into CMD one at a time.
    bcdedit /set useplatformclock no
    bcdedit /set useplatformtick no
    bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
    bcdedit /set tscsyncpolicy legacy
    bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
Use BCDEdit /deletevalue command to remove options that were added using the BCDEdit /set command
    bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock
    bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformtick
    bcdedit /deletevalue disabledynamictick
    bcdedit /deletevalue tscsyncpolicy
    bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto
    Notes:
    - Platformclock set to no disables HPET timers (HPET hinders performance & negatively effecrs input latency).
    - Platformtick set to no disables RTC timers (RTC timers which are inferior to TSC, platformclock & platformtick set to off will use TSC timers which are lower input latency).
    - Disabledynamictick set to yes disables a feature that lets windows stop the system timer when nothing is happening in order to conserve power.
    - Tscsyncpolicy controls the times stamp counter synchronization policy ("Legacy" was lower input latency than "Enhanced" for me).
    - Hypervisor set to off disables a software that you can use to run multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine.

for me if I set the keyboard data queue size too low under certain conditions some buttons don't work. When I set it too low and pressed esc in game the menu popped up like it should but when I pressed esc again it didn't close like it usually does. The funny thing was that it was 100% reproduceable and it was the only thing that didn't work properly at that specific keyboard data queue size value. So I set it a bit higher and haven't encountered anything like this again. I got an optical keyboard, too but I don't think that matters because any keyboard sends the same data via USB to the computer and the computer doesn't even know if the keyboard is optical, mechanical or something else...

I've found the same. I've been tweaking DPC/ISR for years now, and I never found that this did anything but make things worse during actual performance. Older systems are much easier to wrangle in, though, versus new ones. This video has made me want to take a stab at using the Interrupt Affinity tool - I've got nothing to lose, but I'm already at a point where my systems achieve max 100us. Older ones even less.

Disabling E-Cores will get rid of stuttering. It works! Games use ONLY P-Cores. BUT, most games can't determine the difference between E or P-CORES, so they try to use both which in turn creates lag/stutter because E-Cores are not meant for gaming. E-Cores are solely for background/multitasking/system. Not gaming!
