Very good videos! 👍 After searching for a long time I finally found my XT500. It will be a rolling project and your brilliant videos will be of great help!
Hi there Don, I'm doing a teardown of a xt500 myself and ur video has been a awesome point of reference, please explain how the fly wheel came off and I need to do that next
Google Kedo XT 500. nearly everything you need and reasonable prices. Obviously a bike good enough to set up a spares supply. Ive owned 6 XTs and one TT. Great bike. Had one new in 1976 .Waited in the early 70s for Yamaha to make them. Long production run and a fun bike.
Great videos, Don! Just a question, how do you keep track of all the parts when disassembling? I imagine it must be such a hard time putting it all back together when the parts are all over the table...
It gets tricky when it takes nearly a year to do the rebuild. A good workshop manual helps a lot, and photos. I also keep things in groups, like suspension, engine and frame etc.

Had to order an aftermarket Yamaha flywheel puller, there not expensive.
Didn't see you take the rotor off- that was the bit I needed!
Yes, i had to order a tool to remove the rotor. Just a very simple puller.
