- This is the scene where Billy finds out that Costello has a spy in the investigation unit, as well as meeting Madolyn for the first time. The movie is starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen, and dierected by Martin Scorsese. The song is called ''Billy's theme''
I do not own any rights to this movie, this clip or this song. Кино
"Why is the last patient of the day always the hardest one?"
"It's because your tired and don't give a shit, it's not supernatural."
Lmao
lol
Peter Vasz We’re all people
LOL as an immigrant who goes in and out of offices for visa procedures, i have seen so many of them tired people.
That line always had me in hysterics
Her accent is bad
For this role he should have gotten an Oscar.
No , he didn't.. The movie got an oscar.
Too bad he didn't get nominated for this role.
He still dont have an Oscar, after this and his others greastest performances, its a lack of respect
I think he was nominated 4 Blood Diamond that same year
+ESSJ333 because I'm *that person* but he wasn't up against Foxx. That was 2 years earlier when his Aviator performance was AS good as Ray.
The pacing, the chemistry, the dialogues, the suspense. This movie is a masterpiece. Top 5 movies.
Agreed. The casting was on point as well. Fantastic movie.
A superstar cast, the editing, the music choice, the directing, the acting, the storyline and plot everything about this movie was so on point definitely top 5
Nicholson in this couple with DiCaprio just legendary it really is a masterpiece
What are the othe 4?
Loved it until the last ~10 minutes. Felt extremely random and messy.
Can you even realise the fact this film is already 13 years old
Nooooooo
13 years isn't that old for a motion picture
14 now
@RainbowDreams30 2006
Crikes - just shows me how old I am now. I thought it was no more than 5-7. I remember seeing it at the cinema and getting it on blu ray
The way she looks at him when she gives him the two pills, I'm dead XD
Mel May lol
She looks at him like he's a science experiment lol
The look of basically tell him you fucking happy now ??
Having fed the poor
She got horny and was trying to piss him off
- I think Costello's got a spy inside the SIU
- Jesus Christ
- Jason Bourne?!
Lol
Haha 😆
Tristan Domb lmao!
lol. No, Jason Bourne. Not Jesus. Wtf, why the fuck would it be Jesus Christ, Ya fuckin haaaard-on
Lmao it is actually Matt Damon 😂
Forget all the accents - calling her hotshot was one of the most Boston things to say in that moment.
Deniro called Leo hotshot in 'This boy's life' .... He kinda sounded similar to that here ha
This is how I picture Bill Burr if he ever goes to see a shrink.
That's very accurate actually
@@kaarelv1643 It really is lol
Lol that is so accurate. I can't even 😂😂😂😂
Super accurate lmao
He should have been in this as part of the mob or the dipshit cousin
This shouldve been Leo's first Oscar.
+Sternisgod1 EXACTLY!!! him and jack nicholson were amazing in this movie
What's Eating Gilbert Grape should have been his first Oscar!
Martin Tierney lol I like that movie
What’s eating Gilbert grape should have been his first oscar win
Basketball diaries
Not really into the oscars or this "whole get leo an oscar" bandwagon, but this performance was fucking beautiful. I often find it hard to connect with characters but Billy's story is heartbreaking. Masterful piece of work by DiCaprio.
It is even mentioned in the movie. His vulnerability is breathtaking.
Raoul Fluke but what if you had to live like this for ever it would not be a good thing no awards given just a steady take from the individual
It was worse then watching a 2 year olds sock puppet show before nap time.
The entire cast was brilliant
There’s a reason for that bandwagon. The man makes you ache for his characters.
Leo did Blood Diamond (his best work in my opinion) AND the Departed in the SAME YEAR. If I was in the academy, I would have FOUGHT to have him win for two films.
Two of my favorite movies ever. So good
Cuz you don't watch movies
Yep
That was possible when the Oscars first started. Actors could be nominated for their work for the entire year, spanning multiple films. After a few years they discontinued that and made nominations on a per film basis.
So he should have beat out Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood? Really?
This is my favorite movie of all time.. Poor Leo...
wat
It's not great
@@starwarsroo2448 there's always that one guy. Departed is universally regarded as a good movie. What happened in your life that you have to reply to youtube comments in such a negative matter. Are you really that sad. I'm sure at least ur mother loves you
gloop32 that’s a far nastier thing to say than a movie isn’t great
gloop32 I think the question is what happened to you mate?
Just looked up that scene in the original script and recognized how much of this scene was improvised and made up by Leo's character. Fantastic acting, superb rhythm of the scene.
Wow, you reminded me that I bought the DVD version of this which came with the script book I think. Might have to dig that out. And wow, he improvised it? Holy crap that is amazing!!!
@@Spacemonkeymojo Leo catches some shit for being a rich successful globally recognized household name that has access to a stable of 20-something models living the dream, but it's undisputed that this guy is one of the best actors of this generation. There's a reason he gets the big bucks and top billing, and it's an amazing scene like this, a drop in the bucket for his resume, that reinforces that.
Well he asked for Valium not diazepam, always trust Roche
@@Katzendaugs Yep. I was watching clips from The Aviator last night and he killed it in that too. If he wasn't suffering from "Titanic/teen idol syndrome" in the early 2000s he for sure would've won an oscar for that. Also the scene in Wolf of Wall Street where he's making those penny stock sales on the phone and everyone in the office was gathering around watching him I felt like I was watching an actual Wall Street broker/salesman.
@@-null-null8857 Lol what? Valium literally is diazepam. It's just the brandname for diazepam like how Xanax is just a brandname for alprazolam.
I see this clip every time I drink alone
Ben Saucedo glad that i m not alone in this
Why?
Mee too
U ok my guy
WE ARE NOT ALONE, MY GUY
I don’t blame Leo’s character one bit for his meltdown at the psychiatrist. Dude couldn’t sleep and was probably looking over his shoulders every three minutes. I can only imagine what that does to an individual. Beautiful picture by Scorsese 👏🏽👏🏽

Yeah he was good, whatever happened there

Marks character has to be my favorite in the whole film. He's the one who is most at odds with Leo and ultimately is the one who avenged him and his captain. I love it
He had no reason to be a an asshole to a guy on the brink. If that’s the way you treat your friends you’ll have none in the real world

Leo's acting in this movie was absolutely amazing. Bugs me he didn't win an Oscar
This guy is a fucking genius. One of my fav movies of him. Love you Leo.
I've got to give it to Dicaprio he's good. He always plays intense characters but he always plays them consistently well. You can definetely feel the stress in him here.
The premise of this movie is absolutely genius. The fact that it was based on Whitey Bulger makes it even better.
I love Dicap's expression when he says 'you send him off on the street to score smack?' the way he's trying to pressure this woman into giving him pills is too funny. 'Fuckin hotshot' too good XD
score smack? wtf is this?!
The sound of the incoming train gets louder as Leo gets more angry, this is no coincidence. Ahh-- I love studying film

Woo Vera Farmiga is smokin' hot.
She still is ❤
I thought she was just ok until she was butt naked in that film with George Clooney... That single scene changed my entire outlook on her lol... Like for REAL
@@mmsizzlak Yeah, I liked for real :)
MM Sizzlak she confirmed that was a body double
kairita si vera kahit anong role niya. okay siya pero kairita siya. pabibo masyado acting niya.
This scene Really made me realise what murder is really like, yeah we see people killed in movies all the time but Leo’s acting when he sees a murder is how we would all act in that situation and makes it so much more realistic
hottest therapist in history
Homegirl can like get it.
Two dicks, one movie

I don't know man I got a real hot therapist myself. She is 24 has shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes, succulent lips, her breasts I'm guessing here but I imagine they're 40 d's and has a very erotic voice on top of it all. Normally I dread going to any dr's appointments but everytime my appointment comes up with her I always look forword in seeing her especially when our appointments are an hour long.

Wow, DICAPRIO is one hell of an actor. Just maybe the best in hollywood right now.

Ultra80s “because that sugarless motherfucker. It’s the last fuckin drink you’re ever gonna have!”
He wasn't lying. It was a very quick execution.
This scene is definitely a tearjerker leo is one hell of a actor.
*And always will be !*
This movie took DiCaprio’s acting career to be a whole new level and deservedly so. He is an underrated actor
He did The Departed and Blood Diamond in the same year
Both astonishing performances
Definitely the 2006 was a turning point year
That pills scene blew me away. I'd never seen an onscreen argument like that ever---not just in the way it's acted, (which never looks like acting cus its so raw and realistic,) but because of how it was strung together by Monaghan (the writer) and Schoonmaker (the editor).
agree with you but man sometimes incredible acting can take the scene to a whole different level. It happens very often when leo is on screen.A great example here:
ruclips.net/video/n2lTpPptOWA/видео.html
Laonardo's acting in this movie was legendary
Leonardo DiCaprio was BEYOND magnificent in this movie!
there is no one like this guy MAN WHAT AN ACTOR
mark wahlbergs delivery of lines has improved alot,or maybe its just martin scorsese's direction.Still he did an awesome job in this movie, and leo is great as allways.
Every actor in this movie is fantastic.
Give the actor a natural role, he gave the Boston street kid turned rapper turned actor a role where he swears a lot and acts tough but is ultimately a good man. Natural role for him. A married science teacher finding a way to kill plants, not so much.
@@a1919akelbo He was also pretty solid in Four brothers
@a1919akelbo exactly ppl overhype him too much. even the n word came out natural, this was a role designed for him me thinks 💀
@@ldcrp2483 what's an n word?
It is this scene, this montage, that truly summarizes Leonardo DiCaprio's full talent as an actor thus far in his career. Never before has he communicated both such powerful intensity and such deep inner vulnerability.
What a wonderful movie
"Are we done with this psychiatry bullshit?" Truer words never been spoken
just a look on his face before he says 2 pills !!
Damn, this is really one of Leos best performances.
I have watched this scene like at least 4 times. Leo really is just so good
I come back to this scene at least once a year. Such an amazing movie.
He should have won for this but Leo finally got his Oscar! :-)
Agree completely my favourite film great story great line up great soundtrack and off course Leo surprised he didn't get an Oscar for this
+Heather Banks He should have got one a long time ago !!!!!
+Heather Banks He should have won for this, for The wolf of wall street and What's eating Gilbert Grape
Apparently he got nominated for Blood Diamond instead of this which is the reason why he didn't get nominated in this. I don't think actors can't get 2 nominations the same year
Nick Barrie yeah and he decided to not enter for this movie because he didn't want to compete against his costars, I now know. :-)
One of the best scenes in history
Definitely!
This movie is a masterpiece
One of the few times Mark Wahlberg impressed me. DOn't get me wrong, he has charisma and he's ok, but this wasa real performance in a movie full of good ones.
@@hansolo631 this is the best acting I’ve seen from mark. He actually became the character.
@@hansolo631 Yeah, I agree. This is a really good performance and I also feel like he's a VERY underwhelming actor, for the most part. Every dog has his day :)
He is the best actor, best acting, he got so much into the role that he becomes that person,, My hands never shakes.
Di Caprio, Vera Farmiga and Martin Scorcese in the same scene: ladies and gentleman, it doesn't get better than this
what a scene! Dicaprio kicked so much fuckin ass in this movie. he gave his heart to every scene and it shows. he didn't have the flash like Nicholson's or the gems like Walhberg, but his character carried the movie. he was snubbed, of course. everything about this movie was amazing.... scorcese referred to this movie (perhaps, jokingly) as his "B-movie." I have no fuckin idea why. sure, I loved (and I mean LOVED) The Aviator, and but this movie is his best work in the last 20 years.
This is my favorite Martin Scorsese movie! Goodfellas is a close second!
This whole movie has a weird tone to it. Like a surreal nightmare of pure tension with a laid-back soundtrack in the background. Good job of captivating the feeling of stress and bone-splintering anxiety.
THE DEPARTED IS EPIC MASTERPIECE AN MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE CRIME THRILLER CLASSIC FILM.
so this is how u get you re therapist to prescribe you some happy pills
I'm surprised at how easily he tipped her over the edge and got the pills.
Man I love Leo’s reaction to the gunshot
Leo: 👁👄👁
This scene was such a masterpiece. Directing, acting, editing, music.... etc. Really flawless👌
Damn, just noticed how much of a stand up guy Dignam really is, he knew exactly how much anxiety and terror Bill is going through so he decided to be the guy for BIll to vent out to. He kept on provoking Bill until he explodes and actually hurt him and Dignam did not do shit and just took the punch. All through out the movie Dignam kept on fronting how much of an asshole he is but deep inside he's literally the best cop in the movie!
yea right "I'm gonna give you hard time and talk shit all the time in order to help you out"... what kind of fked up idea is that?
@@verniks yeah man, fair enough 😭😂💀
Interesting take I like it, I’m gonna poke you until you pop off and be your human punching bag for a minute. I saw a comment long ago about him too that I liker something like the way he acts shows other cops that he can’t be bought and he won’t be complicit in any kind of cover up.
I love the dynamic between Wahlberg and Sheen. Sheen plays the wiser, friendlyer authority figure and Mark plays the hothead shit talker. But everytime Martin tells him to stop being a dick, he does so without hesitation.
@@verniks Believe it or not there's historical precedent, far from the best motivator, doesnt work for everyone, but when youre a natural born savant at it like Dignam you tend to gravitate towards it.

Vera Farmiga is pure perfection in this movie, soo beautiful..
A possible reason why Leonardo DiCaprio did not receive an Oscar nomination for his performance in this movie was because the Warner Bros. Studios initially did not want to favor DiCaprio over his co-stars and place him in the leading actor category. The studio favored DiCaprio's leading performance in Blood Diamond (2006) (which eventually got him a nomination). DiCaprio himself refused to campaign against his male co-stars in the supporting actor category, so Warner bought no supporting actor ads for DiCaprio, and he did not receive a nomination.
