    I own the A5 USA in all black quartz version 40mm on my 7" wrist. The sapphire is very nice. The loom is top notch, it glows all night, even in low light. It's easy to use and looks great. All the ladies dig it too.

    Lovely. While clearly an homage, for me this fixes things I dislike about the Hamilton Khaki Field - namely the dial legibility, low water resistance and overlong lugs.

      Glad you like it! Yes I agree. The lack of a screw down crown on the Hamilton certainly puts the Vaer in a more durable category. I have been swimming with no worries with my Vaer while my Hamilton in my view is more of less water resistant but not able to handle swimming. Not sure legibility is any different. If anything I might say the Hamilton is slightly better because there is a bigger difference in size between the hour and minute hands which make them easier to differentiate while the Vaers sometimes take and extra fraction of a second to identify.

      @@TheTimelyFocus Great reply, thanks! By legibility I meant that this seems a bit less busier than the Hamilton - all the same marks are there, just seemingly balanced better. Didn't notice the handset issue before. Still considering it.

    Hello! I’m not familiar with this brand but this looks like a really nice watch. Before you even mentioned it I immediately saw the comparison with the Hamilton Khaki. Love the American assembly as well. I’ll definitely check these guys out. Thanks for the review and Happy New Year!

      Hey Scott! Yes way to notice the similarities too. If you are in the market for a new field watch I would definitely recommend this one! Hamilton obviously makes a great and enduring watch as well but this Vaer has a lot going for it. My Hamilton was a gift from my parents and my first Swiss watch so it is very special to me. But, if I were choosing again now I would probably choose the Vaer! Glad you enjoyed the review and happy new year to you as well Scott!

    I think those were rolled pins in the strap. So what you thought was an end for your screwdriver was actually the end of the pin like a cotter key. If you used your sizing tool from the other side it would push out. Your mileage may vary. ;)

    I’ve been looking at this because of the 28,800vph of the miyota vs the 21,600vph of all the seikos in the same price range and also it just looks good I think

    • @TheTimelyFocus

      Yes definitely consider it! In my opinion it is the best in its class for ~$500 field watches!

      I almost bought the Seiko alpinist spb249. Beautiful watch. Good specs for the field, but I also was drawn to
      The 28,800 vph of the miyota. My A5 is on the way. I hoping to wear it as my daily wearer until my 18 month old son turns 18 years old and then pass it on to him.

      Oh I had not heard of that make before but will have to check them out! Yes definitely give VAER a look. They make wonderful watches that really give Hamilton and many similar and even higher priced Swatch group watches a real run for their money! I am a big fan of VAER

  • @johnlowe4331

    I saw on their website review that if you lay the watch on its side with the crown up, the watch gains seconds. Another thing I saw on a Vaewatch is do NOT change the date and time if the hour hand is between 10 and 2 on automatic watches. That's on any automatic watchs, in which I did not know. ruclips.net/video/MQZVvVdinDc/видео.html

      You can change the time; you just can’t use the quick set date feature if it’s between 9 pm and 3 am.

    I really want the C3 tradition from Vaer,but they should include a entry level leather strap! Silicone & nylon is of no interest to me.

    I like the look of bracelets but with a small wrist and large hands but they do not fit. If go's over the hand will not give a good fit on the wrist.

    Vaer put together a decent watch, but since when does " assembled in America" mean much in the watch world? Maybe to Americans?

    • @TheTimelyFocus
      @TheTimelyFocus  2 года назад +6

      Haha, well if you love America as much as I do it means a lot! That is a good point though. To many it might not mean much. However, I think there are a lot of Americans who would love to one day be able to own a watch that was entirely made in America and Vaer is helping to bring that closer to reality. A good number of collectors enjoy owning pieces from Switzerland, Japan, and Germany. Now Bremont is making their own movements and I would really like to see Vaer do something like that in the future. I bet a lot of people would like that as well. In the end, it all comes down to ones preferences but more competition should always be good for us as watch enthusiasts since it should result in better watches for us to choose from. Thanks for the input Chris! What do you think?

      @@G17-911 I certainly don't dislike the USA and own many products made there. The point I was trying to make is that "assembled in America" doesn't guarantee a great product.

    "Assembled in America" could mean almost anything. It's a legal loophole when you can't say Made in America.

    • @TheTimelyFocus
      @TheTimelyFocus  Год назад +1

      Oh no question. Vaer is pretty open about where they source components from. Of course the movement is from Japan too. However, I do really appreciate what Vaer is doing which includes working to bring more and more of the watchmaking to America. Currently Americas standard for what is considered “made in America” is a lot higher than “made in Switzerland” or other countries which can often be only 65% of a watches value. Just something to keep in mind.

    • @TheFibtastic
      @TheFibtastic Год назад

      @@TheTimelyFocus I can't find specifics of what that is. You can import all the parts from elsewhere and pop them together here and say Assembled in America. I've looked over their site and can't find specifics.. which is fine, but they kind of highlight it, the same way that Shinola coasts on "Assembled in Detroit"
