Regarding the strange missile placement, it’s my understanding that this was supposed to have 4x pylons for 9G’s originally, and did on the dev server. However it was decided last minute that that would be too much for this plane, and so they removed the underwing ones from all loadouts to save time, rather than choosing which loadouts got underwing or overwing missiles.
Edit; apparently the GR.1A was indeed modified for only overwing sidewinders irl, and the original implementation on the dev server with 4x must have been an oversight.
No, being overpowered had nothing to do with it, irl the wiring to fire fox 2’s from underwing was removed, on account of being deemed unnecessary. The jaguar was never meant to be a fighter, and the two sidewinders it gets are weapons of last resort. On the other hand, moving the missiles up allows the plane to carry more air to ground ordinance, which is what you want out of a strike aircraft

@@loopoval2066 Ah that must be it then. I wasn't too sure of why exactly, just that it was originally on the dev server with loadouts for 4 missiles in both underwing and overwing pylons, and that it came to the live server with only the overwing.

It was because with them on top of the wing it freed up pylon space for fuel tanks/bombs

Yes, I always wonder how they able safely shoot that missile when it placed at under pylon if fail it just fall down without harming aircraft compare above the wing which had very little room for error

could not agree more. sure other war thunder youtubers can ask gaijin for a test drive, play a vehicle and tell you if they think its good or not, but with defyn its always more than that. defyn is a good player who keeps up to date with the state of the game and can truly tell you how the vehicle works in the matchmaker. in every video defyn makes he is always talking about how a plane fits into the matchmaker and what planes to look out for and what each plane can do against you. if you have experience in the game you will understand what he is saying when it comes to talking about a flight model, weapon systems, countermeasures and effective tactics to use to fight people or prolong your own life to however much is possible. defyn always gives tips on how to tip the odds in your favour in situations where you can.
The better i get at war thunder, the more i play war thunder and the more i know how it feels to play the game, the more I appreciate defyns content. Even when he is being "toxic" in videos i can relate to him because simply if you play war thunder this much it is something you will face in yourself and in your teammates. These kinds of qualities are something truly unique. In all the gaming content i have watched on youtube i have never found a channel quite as dedicated to provided useful help to people who truly enjoy playing a multiplayer "competitive" game.
Of course as someone who plays war thunder a lot I know the need for breaks. Just to take a little time off and do something else. defyn does it and everyone should.
Finally is the most important thing: defyn does this basically for free!1!1 when he has lots of other shit to do he is always staying on top of the game and providing absolutely peerless content regularly with all the extra gameplay examples you could ever ask for. It's absolute insanity and the steady growth he has seen is 100% deserved.

I don't play the game nearly as much as I used to and admittedly 90% of the reason I still play it is because I want to keep making sure there is content people can fall back on.
I might still make mistakes and get things wrong but I try to keep them at a minimum for obvious reasons by letting other people double/triple check what I say, as I feel that misinformation is one of the biggest downfalls of this community.
I used to work with a guy that designed the modification. It was an urgent mod for gulf war 1 to allow more bombs and sidewinders to be carried. Because it was an urgent mod they did it super quick and just looked for the quickest solution. Dude was called Roy and he liked ballroom dancing.
Reminds me of the AIM9L mod on the SHARs in 82. Similar situation, they discovered the Lima jumped off the rail nicely if they filed a bit of it off. Drawing produced, every rigger worth his salt can use a file, Limas arrived on Conveyor and any remaining chance the ANA had was stuffed. Rowland White - Harrier 809. Thoroughly recommend.

The Jaguar was designed as an attack and training aircraft. - also a carrier attack plane, but only one was built.
GR.1/1a means ground attack / recconaisance.
41 and 2 squadrons used a large recce. pod and that was their main role.
The two-seaters are T's, and it means training; mostly attack training, against targets on the ground.
It's not a fighter, and trying to use it as one is a mistake, which will become more obvious as later planes are introduced.
Being long and thin, the Jag's pitch rate is abysmal, and is not modelled correctly, as the autostabs would be in use constantly to prevent yaw / pitch coupling and loss of control.
You'll notice it has no ailerons, turn was achieved by differential use of small spoilers on top of the wing, and the all-way stabilators, working for both roll and pitch at once.
Weirdly, these jags seem to be marked up as an early 1990s version, but the paint is all worn like it's been outside for decades.
There's one in a Romanian air museum that looks like that, but the RAF planes were better cared for than that.
To be fair on the side of the Jaguar, it was designed as a fast-acting attack jet along the lines of the Harrier than an air superiority platform.
Normal load for a Jag in the 1980s was two large fuel tanks for endurance, while performing a cross-country, ground target engagement or three, with no real emphasis on air-to-air.
That laser nose is the give-away.

I suck with the ADENs on the Harrier as well, definitely the mount and the characteristics mostly. After using the M61 for a year or so it is a stark contrast.
NR30s on MiG19 are also deadly. Unless someone rolls down where mig19's slow responsive (and bad) rudder fucks you up, but for clean deflections they're amazing one tap memes

I’m sorry that you’re experiencing issues with your computer, and how you swapped out a bunch of parts and you still didn’t get war thunder to stop crashing.
I had the exact same issue a year ago and I had to do a full system reset. Idk why I was experiencing this, but I guess that because I fucked around with some of my GPU settings games began to lag so hard they became unplayable. Games over 60GB wouldn’t even start. I reset my computer completely, and it worked. I wasn’t experiencing the lag or the crashes anymore. If you will do a full system reset, save all your recordings on a separate hard drive so you can still use them after your PC is wiped. I really don’t want to see my favorite war thunder creator stop making content. Keep up your videos, they are very enjoyable to watch
The AIM-9D and G aren't good at being launched at close ranges if the enemy plane is turning because the missile is simply too fast, it can't pull lead enough to get on target.

When i get problems with the game crashing, 1st thing i do now is delete the (cache folder) in war thunder. This helps 95% of the time for me. I made a short cut to the folder.

For the gun problem I use vertical targeting at 600 meter in the jaguar and the harrier.

I had the same issue as you. Computer crashing. It wasn't the temperature, Windows or hard drives. It was my PSU.
The dying PSU causes crashes when it's high power usage.

In ground RB, I can spawn in my phantom, climb to above AAA range, and drop them and as long as they have enough energy, they will silently glide and track my initially locked target. I can even launch these at distances my targets aren't rendering on screen lol.
I once had issues with the easy anticheat. Not only in War Thunder but in every game that uses it. I updated my bios and that fixed it

I had a similar issue with frequent crashes while temps and everything seemed to be running fine. Turned out to be a faulty ram stick, installed ram from my friends old rig and it fixed the issue right away. Ran windows diagnostic and memtest which said it was fine so idk if it wouldve been possible to diagnose the problem before it got to this point. Could be worth a shot if u have any laying around

Fair enough. Maybe more precise fuel intervals would be better- (say, staggered every 5 minutes). Or perhaps you like the challenge of limited fuel options, because it forces you to think a little harder, play a little smarter, and improve? Or am I missing the mark?
I think it's a good thing because of the fact you are able to tell what fuel loads someone brought so you can plan around it
What i do think is that the fuel loads other than max tank should be the same in terms of time on normal throttle
The fuel system is kinda iffy but with sliders you will end up in fights you can't win and it becomes a guessing game

Defyn! A while back, I started having the same issue out of nowhere. I tried literally everything to fix it, and then I realized it was just their fkin Anti-cheat bugged out for some reason. Then I thought I was doomed, cause I thought the game wouldn't run without the anti-cheat on, but I just disabled it from the launcher and the game runs just fine!

My best guess for having missiles on the top is to allow more rooms for bombs and atgms. Either that or the engineers just though "why not?" And put them there

To anyone wondering the nissles are on top so it won't take up from the ground pound capability.
As to why more planes don't do this... it is because weapons are loaded using people so it would probs be unwieldy to always have to load missiles on the wings

I was crashing like crazy in warthunder too recently, I don’t know a ton about computers but me and a friend figured out that it was a problem with my ram. So it could be a similar problem?

I had a lot of trouble with crashing for a few months, game would hang and then blackscreen. Turns out the guy who installed my motherboard only fastened it loosely with two screws and it was hanging there weirdly, took everything out and put it back in properly and now everything runs fine again.

They have huge fuel tanks over-wing, which were known as 'Hindenbergers'.
By the way, the over-wing pylons were always intended, and first carried MATRA 'Magic' missiles, the French version.
The RAF used the over-wing pylons, but the French Jaguars were essentially not improved upon, partly because they were a Breguet design, and Marcel 'Dassault' ( his brother's resistance name ) hated anything that worked that he hadn't designed.

when my game kept crashing in the middle of games a month ago it was due to my antivirus, if you haven't already try exempting your warthunder download folder from your antivirus.
I dont think that this loadout actually existed. Pretty sure the overtop mounts are a compromise to get 4 missiles on the bastard, so you wouldnt have them on top the wing unless you had 2 underneath.
Some early Jags had over-wing MATRA Magic missiles, and the RAF took over the idea when the French dropped it.
The later upgrades made this almost standard, but the Jag was never intended as a fighter.
Only when the Sidewinders gained much-improved engagement profiles did they appear on Jags, very much later in service. The GR.3 and so on.

what Q5? Never faced one, they're quite unpopular
@@kingghidorah8106 Yeah they're a Chinese modification of the MiG-19. There are 2 variants, Q-5 Early and Q-5A. Bad maneuvering, bad guns, bad payload (even though it's an attacker), but it's a supersonic at 9.0 and gets airspawn, which is why it doesn't deserve 9.0 at all, it's a worse Su-7 in every way, but it's in a BR where literally nothing can catch it, additionally, the Q-5A even gets flares...
I'm not sure how I haven't seen any popularity in these two planes, they are imo the most broken thing at 9.0.

Just a pesky detail, that Jaguar engine afterburner produces diamonds while in WT they don't ;)
A lot of afterburning aircraft ingame still have the old afterburner without the diamonds like for example the Jaguars, the MiG-19s and the F-86Ks
@@Serkay64 yes, but the F100 and MiG19 (as well as Swift 7) are earlier reheating aircraft. What bugs me off is how if you throttled down a little on these your engines will take a lot more time to re accelerate because the temperature goes down. My experience with MiG19PT is that below 630 Celsius the engines spool up very slowly, but the F100 suffers more from this since it's not a very thrusty plane. MiG19PT should have diamonds, I don't know about the S, since it's older and heavier due to the cannon on the nose. Snail however switched the maneuverability and control authority between the planes before making then equal once they added the compression and drag

100% worth it. Best British jet. Expert your crew to not black out. Also, enjoy the PD radar with sky flashes… so disgusting
@@ericpeterson541 Well, I followed your advise and bought and experted the fgr. The radar was a major disappointment to be honest. Easily loses the target, especially when enemies deploy chaff. This renders it's main advantage, the skyflash, useless. I have had way more success with the vulcan than any of its missiles. Apparently the september nerf to the fgr radar coupled with the buff of flares significantly have crippled the phantoms.
@@stoyantodorov2133 the recent change to sensitivity of flares/chaff changed a lot of how well locks work. On every plane… not just this one
