    I absolutely love SolaWoodFlowers and making easy, forever lasting flower arrangements, bouquets, decor and more....the process of creating with Sola Wood Flowers, especially if you'd like beautiful customized colors, is the dry time of dying! So, what I do for dying sola wood flowers is batch coloring or bulk dying so I can just have freedom to whip up arrangements as I go without having to wait 24 hours for dry time.
    In this video I show you how we used water, sola wood flower dye, sola wood softener to create all these beautiful colors and fun!
    If you do not have sola wood flower dye or sola wood softener, you CAN use Acrylic Crafters Paint, Vegetable Glycerin and Water combined...I do not love the results the same as with the SolaWood Dyes and softeners, but it does work.
    Also, a REALLY fun thing we do is double dip the flowers in two different colors to create ombre sola wood flower petals, and also add additional depth.
    Finally, as the dye starts running out in the cups, instead of wasting the little bits left, we blend custom colors mixing orange and brown together or the red into the blue color...just fun to create custom colors and see what happens, even if the colors turn a little "muddy" sometimes it looks really beautiful on the wood flowers, especially the "skinned" sola wood flowers.
    What is skinned and what is skinless sola wood?
    Skinned means the sola wood flowers have the outer layer of wood, creating parking layers in the rolled flower, its kinda like the bark on a stick is the skin and the inside is lighter....same with SolaWood.....so skinless or naked sola wood, is just the inside light parts of wood.
    Hopefully that's super helpful if you're just learning about SolaWood Flowers. I am so excited to share more Forever Lasting Flower Arrangements with you at byMeganElizabeth.com

    Hi Megan, did you feel the 1 oz size went a long way or would you suggest bigger 4 oz size?

    Hello Megan is there a way to make the flowers have light sprinkle of glitter. Can you spray your favorite sent because I am planning to use the solo wood flowers.

      Yes you can add glitter or spray with favorite scent for sure! Just note, glitters tend to make them more brittle but that’s not a problem as long as you’re aware.

    To create that ombre effect did you wait until the first color dry out or do you apply after a few minutes?

      @byMeganElizabeth  Год назад

      I apply after a few minutes I don’t immediately go to the new color bc I don’t want it to drip, but for the colors to seep in together between 10-15 mins is about enough time.

    How much softener do you add to the dye?

    • @byMeganElizabeth
      @byMeganElizabeth  Год назад

      I do approximately 1-2 drops for 2-3 tablespoons of paint and I play with how much water I add depending on how opaque or translucent I want the dye to be.

    Does is matter what kind of water is used while dyeing these? Do tap, distilled, purified, spring, or well water all work the same?

      I have used filtered tap Everytime I do it, I have heard in one group that they prefer distilled to keep any minerals off of them, but I never felt the difference and have had wooden flowers that are now more than 14 years old and are still perfect

      so in the solo cups I fill them about 1/4 of the way with water and add the dye or acrylic paint and then several drops of SolaWood Softener

      Would you say it's more dye than water? Or 1:1? Or more water to dye? I have a box of 1000 Sola wood flowers in my living room for my son's wedding. I'd rather not have to trial and error coloring these!
