The idea that Buffalo Wild Wings' boneless wings are "dishonest" is hilarious. You'd have to be an absolute moron to think boneless wings are made from chicken wings. As the court ruled in that ridiculous lawsuit.

growing up we hardly ate out, and was accustomed to homemade meals. prices and hit or miss food is really the main factor on why we don’t eat out anymore.
For us, it just costs TOO MUCH to eat out at restaurants. I don't want to pay $20+ bucks for a single person meal, and it's often not as good as you can make at home. When I fix meals at home, it's like less than $5 bucks per person (probably $3.50 or $4.00). So, that's why I've learned to cook, especially during Covid, and we eat fair-priced at home. Middle class families can't pay $70 / $ 80 bucks for two parents, two small kids, and a little meal for Momma to take home. It's not worth almost $100 bucks by time you do taxes and tips. Everything over-priced.
I’m far from broke and I agree with you. Sometimes just buying a chicken sandwich and fries from a non-big chain establishment is $16+ dollars. Seriously?!?
This post is so spot on, it just cost too much, there are so many cooking channels on you tube, there is no reason you cannot learn how to cook, practice make perfect, fun fact McDonalds is going to charge $18 for a big mac. yeah sure that is going to work out well for them.
@@markcab2055 It’s a given that cooking should be first and foremost, but it’s ok to eat out sometimes, especially in the summer. My oven NEVER cuts on in July & August.

Prices will remain the same, and eventually things even out. It's more of a psychological issue we all have because we were all used to lower prices. Local Mexican and chinese restaurants are the only places affordable in my town. I rarely go to national chains anymore, the prices are out of control. Local mom and pops is where it's at if i don't cook.
My city’s fudruckers closed right before the pandemic and it used to be a family staple. Loved the cheese sauce and other topping stations. My wife and I miss it a lot
Several years back a Steak and Shake opened up around the corner from my house, later that SAME YEAR the location was closed. Service was both extremely slow and bad. Now a family owned Indian restaurant is in its location and always packed.
Losing Applebees would be sad. But Buffalo? I doubt that ever happening when it's always packed even on a Tuesday Night. Despite that Wing Stop has better flavor
9:22 - I used to go to the Furrs you have a picture of here. It has been turned into an Olive Garden. They gutted the furrs building and made it into an OG. It opens in the same Garland TX location on Jan 22, 2024.
It is interesting to see people moving away from these national chains... maybe this shift notes a move toward eating local instead 🤷♀ At One Mighty Mill our belief has always been to REBUILD the local food systems that our communities thrive off of
To be honest I never heard of some of these restaurants/places up until now. I actually like Apple Bee's. Obviously I have eaten there. Buffalo Wild Wings sucks here in my city. I've ordered from them before 3 times. Each time they screwed up my order for take out. I don't order from them any more. Third time was the charm to say never again! Those are the only places I have eaten at. I've wanted to try White Castle though!
Went to my city's last remaining Boston Market, only to see the lights on and bread in the window but the restaurant closed. Really sad to see them go. I used to work at one, worst job I ever had, but the free food and corn bread I stuffed into my mouth on a daily basis was amazing.
A lot of people, if they want to go to restaurants, or order or eat out at all, I'm sure are opting to return to the mom and pop establishments. Chains certainly are getting too overpriced, too not so great of quality, and just don't really put the average diner's authentic experience first over dollars and cents.
Yes, we have some diner type places and breakfast places with a varied assortment of food, fresh baked pies, great coffee, and friendly staff. They care and hire adults.
A lot of these places were around when I was a kid and we only went out to dinner maybe once a month if that. If we keep paying folks $15 an hour to flip. burgers at McDonalds there won't be anyone going out to eat anytime soon.
I miss TGI Fridays. There ribs were 2nd to none not even from little miss bbq in Phoenix Arizona. The old country buffet appears to be open in Phoenix. As for Furr’s I tried several attempts to go there but there was always a line that put GameStop midnight launches to shame.
Surprisingly our Applebee's seems to be constantly popping at least during lunch. I dunno how it is in the evenings, I'm off before their dinner service. That being said we only have IHOPs & Denny's in the "big chain restaurants category
I may know the reason why those "make it yourself" pizza restaurants are struggling. I tried one of those, and it turned out that I was bad at designing my own pizza. I added different things that individually I liked, but it seemed when they all came together on a pizza, it just didn't work out. The same may be true of designing your own hamburger at Fuddruckers.
The problem with Steak N Shake is no one has time to stop and give them some love. Slowest/worst service since Friendly's, and we know how that worked out.
The last time I went to Furr’s was in the far west side of San Antonio by HWY 151 and Loop 1604 and they closed down about three or four years ago. It was about five months before they closed down permanently. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, macaroni and cheese and key lime pie with raspberry tea.
Most food from chain restaurants is just microwave, pre-made food - and the people working in these chains know it. If we want to eat microwaved food, we'll buy it at the grocery store and cook it ourselves for half the price.
We used to have a local Steak n Shake but it closed several years ago. Too bad, I liked their food. I love White Castle too but there aren't any in my area. Haven't seen a Fuddruckers in years. Applebees is okay but I can take them or leave them. As long as I have my Whataburger I'm happy. And Chili's. As a child I fondly remember eating at Panchos HOWEVER I ate there a few years ago and it didn't quite hit the same (new location of course but still I can understand why only 2 remain)
A lot of the independent restaurants are better and cheaper than the chains. The only reason I ever ate at chains was because they were a good value. No reason to pay $20 pre tip to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. It made sense when it was like $12.
Buffalo Wild Wings will never close here in my town until it’s officially closed for good it’s one of the top resteraunts here amazing service and great food out Bdubs actually cares
It looks like I'm not the only one who quit eating White Castles. I cannot remember when I stopped going there, but I think my last time there was in early 2020. The pandemic motivated me to consume my healthiest diet ever. Unhealthy foods weaken the immune system and promote inflammation, so that meant no greasy fast food. I even managed to go two-and-a-half years without eating any junk food or restaurant food. I do NOT miss the food coma from overdosing on the oil or the persistent unquenchable thirst from overdosing on the sodium. I know from an experience in the fall of 2022 that I'm more sensitive to oil and salt than I used to be. I ordered pizza from an establishment that I had liked in the past. It gave me that food coma and unquenchable thirst even though I don't recall experiencing such side effects in the past. White Castle did give me those side effects in the past. If I ate White Castle sliders now, I'd deplete the local water supply in a vain attempt to quench my thirst, and the food coma would sideline me for a long, long time.
Just look at what happened to Souplantation! CiCi's Pizza also lost a bunch of locations but they still seem to be doing OK in the South at the very least.
