5 Minute Therapy Tips - Episode 21: Therapist Development - How to Be the Best Therapist

- One of the most important things to me is therapist development. How can we help people to be the best therapist? Now you can read books about how to do therapy. You can go to workshops about how to do therapy. You can learn research about how to do therapy. But how to be the best therapist - that’s something that’s not easy to learn from books or research or theories - that’s something that you do by virtue of setting in motion a series of practice exercises that help you to be better at who you are.
We are excited to share with you our new RUclips series which will explore topics such as Client Problems, Professional Issues, Clinical Concerns, and Methodology with new episodes every Friday!

"There is an application called Bos Koltuk, you can register anonymously and tell the psychologists your problem for free (the first one) and answer immediately. I hope it will be useful for you." How to use it is explained in this video with English subtitles : ruclips.net/video/xzeSSntgio8/видео.html The application is in Turkish, but after registration, you can "speak English with 3 consultants named Freya, Remy and Helena".
Sorry bud your a trooper tho
Wow! I wish my professors were as eloquent as Dr. Zeig! Such a a great educator...

My friends expect me to be their therapist, for some reason they trust me enough to open up. I might as well be a good listener

As a 13 year old girl, i'd like to open someone's eyes one day. I'd like to help someone with their struggles the best way I can. I have a really kind heart. For a person with bad thoughts and sad times, I wish for others to not feel that way, the same way I tend to do sometimes. I am told I help a lot of people with how they're feeling, but i'd like to do better. I'd like to prepare myself for when i'm older to face someone with the problems I once had or worse. In order to do so, I really want to learn how to help people more, face to face, since i'm normally good at helping people through text. This video is really helpful, so thanks to the creators of this, for helping others out to make them the best therapist and/or helper they can possibly be!
I think figurative speech is. Dry important. The use of language is an art. Who would have thought that people could feel better from having a therapeutic conversation?
Hi thank you for the tips I want to start now at 11 so win i become older I can get better
and thank you again

My friends having a mental break down so yeah lemme just watch some tutorials and then fail and use comedy skills I’ve developed through child hood trauma to make her feel better 😘
I have always been a good listener, and when someone comes to me they often just want to open up to me and with my life experiences it gives me prospectives other don’t have. And often times I somehow help them. Idk how bit I’m looking to learn about therapy possibly even do it full time if I get a license

Joseph Conrad has always had a special place; though, apparently, he might not be so popular among all. Just realised one of the important reasons....He's a Master of recursions. Long recursions, lyrical recursions, sublime recursions.

I’m 13. I want to be a therapist when I grow up. I listen t9 my friends stuggles and try to help them the best I can. I have lots of trauma and I don’t want anyone to be sad in life, I have always been an optimist and have found light in dark places in my life. I see now that can be happy in bad situations. I’m going through one now, but I realized it’s not bad. It’s a good thing.
Everything OK now?

Hi Dr. Zeig, I'm 16 years old and for around eleven months now I finally realized that being a therapist/clinical psychologist is my dream job. I did AP Psychology and got a 5, but is there anything I can do to help me be a therapist at my age (other than focusing on high school and going to university of course)? And can these videos really help me out?
You should spend time thinking about why you want to be a therapist, what it would be like to actually do it and talk to actual therapists or look into what actual therapists have to say about the job.
@@reuniteireland that is exactly what I have been doing and continue to do on a daily or weekly basis
@@kjy05 How did you realize this?
@@ceterisparibus8966 good question, it took me a lot of self-reflection because I had no idea what I wanted to be for the longest time and I also wanted to positively contribute to humanity and do good for Allah (I'm a Muslim) and while watching a few RUclipsrs that are psychologists and studying AP Psychology I understood fully that psychology was for me
Read books by other therapists or about human well-being. Make sure they aren't pop-psychology though as those won't really give you the necessary depth and understanding and might also sometimes be inaccurate. Also maybe watch med-circle videos on RUclips to get a sense of some of the treatments that are being used for common mental health issues like depression and anxiety! Katie Morton is very educational. And don't pass up the religious or spiritual elements that go into someone's wellbeing. A lot of patients are religious or spiritual, and you can help them use that spirituality to get closer to wellbeing.

Might be his accent or just the ageing, if u focus good enough on what he's saying rather than how he's saying, it won't bother u at all. :)

I invite the loud music truck driver to come visit me. Its for therapeutic reasons
Seems like he is more of an 'actor' than a 'therapist'.
