I'm from the Philippines. I sorta notice it. Please see Sir Duke of Giacomo Turra vs US Sir Duke. I could be wrong but maybe it's because of the gypsy and classical influence. Plus the influence of the latin language.
@@Vossst If you take someone raised in a family, who spent most of his life listening to James Brown , Parliament, Funkadelic , Sly and the family stone, Prince etc No matter where he lives on earth he will be a serial groover . Music is a language !
I was at the London gig Vincen played at and he was absolutely harmonious with everyone else, and a total badass on the instrument. It was one of the most fun gigs I've ever been to. Brilliant stuff.
Cory's an awesome bass player in his own right, so I can imagine how his ideas and feel might be difficult to reconcile with what he's hearing. I really want to see Sonny T live!
I've seen Cory twice in the UK, once with Seth Tackaberry and once with Yohannes Tona, and both absolutely smashed it. The first time I saw him at the Electric Ballroom in London was just amazing, straight off the back of Motivational Music for the Syncapated Soul album... so much energy!! I stumbled into Cory and Vulfpeck etc after Lunchtime popped up on my facebook feed, and I've been stuck in the Cory Wong, Vulfpeck, Vulfmon, Theo Katzman, Joey Dosik, and by association Cody Fry wormhole ever since. What a happy place!
I love Sonny. He’s a beautiful human. My son and I met him and got to chat with him after their very cold Austin gig a couple years back (check YT for Brooklyn Bop… that was a spiritual experience w Sonny). But Yohannes Tona might be my favorite CW bass player in a very tight contest. Of course that may just be a preference based on what day it is. LOL.
Cory never has to worry about a drummer. He has Petar Janic who is sick as f**k. Great player. Yohannes Tona is a sick bassist too who went to McNally music school here in the Twin Cities with Cory.
Small audio note, considering putting a stronger room tone underneath because when the guest’s audio drops it sounds super clipped and jarring. Great clip though, super interesting story!!
Sounds like Cory has a gate setup too high on his mic channel. Both of these guys mic gains are set too low and they're mouths are way too close to the mics. You know those are quiet rooms so they can lay back a bit in a podcast interview situation.
@@thezakkuhnshow the videos of him after a few days being with the band are insane! So glad this band exists. I have seen Tower of Power 107 times and I have been friends with Dave Garibaldi for 20 years. What a career. Glad Corey is taking the torch. Just saw him in New Haven a few weeks ago. Amazing! 2nd best horn band ever! .
I saw Cory on his recent US tour at the wiltern, his new bass player is cool and sounds great but there was just something incredibly tight about Sonny T and Petar. It really didn’t feel the same. I’ve seen him twice at the wiltern now and the Sonny T show was noticeably more tight and funky. No hate to his current bass player tho
So interesting to hear about Cory's views on the difference between European Funk players and American, great interview!
Ya I thought so as well! Really interesting
@@thezakkuhnshow, Sounds like B.S to me.
Very ridiculous, sorry...😅

Cory has one of the most magical drum and bass players I have ever heard and that fill in Bass Player was amazing
He always gets the best guys!!! That is a skill right there
Cory is an amazing band leader and guitarist. Kudos to him and Vincen Garcia.
Have you seen him live?
@@thezakkuhnshow No, just RUclips.
@@thezakkuhnshow I did and the guy was incredible!
Just saw Cory Wong in Toronto. Good lord that was fabulous. Couch as the opener was super tight and a lovely bonus.
I saw that tour as well!! Great show! Couch was awesome!

Hope you get the chance brother!
Cory is a perfectionist and he scares me.

That’s awesome! You’ve seen the show in every form! It’s always killer!
Just saw Vulfpeck in Hollywood a few weeks ago. The whole band was amazing.
Hell ya! I bet that was epic
I’ve seen Cory with three different bass players. Sonny T by far added the most to the sound.
Hell ya! That guy can play the bass!

How is Cory interviewing himself 😂
Honestly awesome stuff here
Ha! Thanks for watching brother!
I'm from Madrid and here there are many RNB musicians, It is one of the most listened genres
I need to go!
Which of you is Cory Wong again? :D
Nice one
Cory never has to worry about a drummer. He has Petar Janic who is sick as f**k. Great player. Yohannes Tona is a sick bassist too who went to McNally music school here in the Twin Cities with Cory.
He might be the best drummer in the game right now!
Fascinating
Glad you think so! 🙌
Jesus, take it easy on that gate Cory.
Ha!
he is particular about the release
was there in glasgow vincen was awe and then some

Unreal player!
How interesting…. All of it!
Thanks for these thoughts, questions and answers, guys 👍👍
Thanks for watching!!!!
@ too easy 😉👍
Understatement of the DECADE!!

Currently probably the worlds best Bass players and drummers are Japanese. Most of them read and can hit the groove 100%
Interesting
I have to ask, why did Cory never had Joe Dart on tour?
🤷🏻♂️
He has Vulfpeck and Fearless Flyers. Joe is probably sick of the sight of him!
oh yeah, i was there at your concert in Berlin in 2022. Vincen was booomb! ;🔥🔥
IT DIDNT LOOK HARD FOR VINCEN GARCIA.
The guy is a beast!

Wonder what Dart was up to.
Ya good question
He was in Dean Town. Lol
He was touring with Theo
Hmu Cory I got u
I am new here and I can’t tell if this dude is just talking to himself… are these the same person?

Cory Wong is a much better bass than a guitar player.
Ha! You think?

Cory’s very particular about his rhythm section, but would get destroyed by classical indian musicians, get real
Such a dumb comparison, those are two completely opposite worlds. 🤦♂️
Nobody listens to those so people can't tell. Indians always try to insert themselves lol. Sit down.
