Thanks Keith! Yeah, I think my motivation has definitely stayed with this project and has made me want to finish it. The M10 kits have definitely been the standout pieces, really enjoyable to work on from build to weathering 😀
Cheers Stu, the M10 kit is definitely becoming one of my favourite kits to work with. They go together easily, paint up well and with the addition of stowage and other bits and pieces you can really go to town on making them look like individual vehicles 😀
Thanks Paul, when I decided to start this project I really wanted to make sure the M10s had a lot of detail, stowage etc after seeing a lot of examples in reference photographs. I think the extra work put into them really does add an extra layer 😀
Thanks Vic! This has been a really enjoyable project to work on to get back into Bolt Action. Taking a slower approach with the extra details and weathering has certainly helped 🙂
It's been a long time since I played Bolt Action regularly but hopefully a few games will be coming soon. It will be great to start putting some Bolt Action battle reports back on the channel 🙂
Thanks Leslie and definitely agree about the M10 kit, really nice to work with, goes together well and the extra work with the stowage and crew certainly adds to them 🙂
Cheers Cal, I'm really pretty chuffed with it so far. It was a little bit daunting getting back into Bolt Action painting and I was a bit worried I'd lose motivation again but I'm definitely enjoying working on this 😀
Thanks mate, much appreciated! Really enjoying this one, its been a lot slower than my other Bolt Action projects but very happy with it. The US infantry box is a wonderful kit 🙂
Cheers Chris! I'm really happy with how these are turning out so far. Spending an extra bit of time on both the vehicles and infantry seems to be working 🙂
Thanks Justin, the M10 is a wonderful plastic kit to work with. Easy to put together and pretty quick to paint but with lots of scope for adding stowage and making them look lived in 😀
Beautiful! A suggestion: I found that letting the small paint bottles of plastic compatible model paint sit for a few months causing the paint to start to separate out thereby producing some "paint gunk" to form in the bottom of the bottle. Now the paint is easily remixed by simply stirring it with a brush, or shaking the bottle vigorously. But it's very useful to set some bottles of besieges and browns sit long enough to form that "paint gunk" in the bottom and NOT shake or stir them to remix the paint. That's because that "paint gunk" is superb for use in portraying CLUMPS OF MUD especially for smaller scales like these. Doing this avoids that granular look to the mud that makes it look like there are too many stones in the mud, stones that are simply too large to not have fallen loose from the mud. Use a small square tipped fairly stiff brush to scoop the "paint gunk" out of the bottom of the bottles and place the "gunk" strategically in places where mud would normally collect on tank or other vehicle. Try it and I think you'll love the results.
Cheers Mike! Crikey, I'd never thought of using anything like that for making mud.....but I'm definitely intrigued. I'm pretty sure that I have a few old paints that I haven't used in a while so I shall definitely be trying it out! This certainly demonstrates that when it comes to basing, there are so many different materials and techniques that can be used. Thanks for suggesting this, I shall definitely be having a go 😃👍
Thanks Andy, much appreciated mate! I'm really happy with how this project is turning out and it has definitely got my Bolt Action painting mojo back. Taking a slower approach and with using a different painting technique has made this a really enjoyable project so far. Not long to go to completion 😀
Lovely work, dude. Love the olive drab base lips! Very cool idea. Way better than the standard brown or black. I hope to get my hands on that new (well, new to me) US box.
Thanks James, much appreciated! Y The olive green was something I started when basing my Landsknechts and I really liked how it looked. I shall definitely be doing this with future projects. The US infantry box is superb, some really crisp sculpts and dynamic poses. You'll definitely enjoy it 🙂👍
Cheers mate! It's been really nice getting back into Bolt Action after quite a long time away from it. It has definitely got my BA painting mojo back! I would certainly recommend that 🙂👍
Cheers buddy, much appreciated! I'm really enjoying taking the slower approach with this project and the new infantry technique is certainly paying off. Not long to go to completion now 😀
Thanks mate, very kind of you! I knew when I was getting back into painting Bolt Action I wanted to work on something a bit different and this list is certainly that. Over halfway finished now so looking forward to seeing it all finished 🙂
Nice, I have a way to go to catch up. Yesterday’s mail brought me some more riflemen and support to fill out my US platoon, and some Vallejo drab colors I was missing
Cheers Paul, glad you enjoyed it! It's certainly been an enjoyable project to work on in taking a completely different approach to it. Definitely looking forward to gaming with it 🙂
Good job, there's so much mud on those bases I guess they could be used for Turnip... By the by, have you ever heard of /played a ruleset called crossfire, I just wondered since I'm building of force for it inspired by Lindybeige's videos on it what with you being big into ww2 wargaming. Just wondered if you new of it/ had any thoughts all the best
Cheers buddy, the Vallejo mud and water effect is definitely my go to combination for basing at the moment. I've heard of Crossfire but never played it. Like you I came across it on Lloyd's channel and it looks really interesting. I particularly like the no measuring tape and initiative mechanics. Definitely something I'll look into one day 🙂
Thanks Ken, super happy with the results so far. Its one of those projects that I'm dipping into every few weeks and it is certainly keeping me motivated. Really looking forward to getting these on the tabletop 🙂
Cheers Dom! Taking a completely different approach to how I would normally paint Bolt Action but I think I'll be using this approach for future projects. Takes a bit longer but definitely seems to be working 😀
Cheers Lucian, much appreciated! The US infantry box is great for creating some really dynamic poses. Not for a while but I have recently bought the Flames of War Tobruk starter box and I've painted three allied tanks so far. Really enjoying it so far and the Battlefront plastics are fantastic 😀
What is the philosophy behind basing vehicles? Just getting started with BA and notice some people do and don’t. Just looks awkward when vehicle on uneven terrain
Hey, great question. Basing vehicles is very much a personal preference. A lot of people do it to prevent damage to the model but for me, I base vehicles as I think it ties the overall project together. I agree that it can look a little strange or out of place on different terrain types and can be difficult in built up scenery. There's definitely no requirement to base them and welcome to the world of Bolt Action 😃👍
Glad to see you making progress Ste. They all look very impressive indeed.
Thanks Keith! Yeah, I think my motivation has definitely stayed with this project and has made me want to finish it. The M10 kits have definitely been the standout pieces, really enjoyable to work on from build to weathering 😀
4:22 That Commander is BAD ASS! Nick Nolte Style!
Love them Ste, can't beat paintings some armour.
Cheers Stu, the M10 kit is definitely becoming one of my favourite kits to work with. They go together easily, paint up well and with the addition of stowage and other bits and pieces you can really go to town on making them look like individual vehicles 😀
Great attention to detail on the M10 Ste. Brilliant.
Thanks Paul, when I decided to start this project I really wanted to make sure the M10s had a lot of detail, stowage etc after seeing a lot of examples in reference photographs. I think the extra work put into them really does add an extra layer 😀
The troops and vehicles look awesome! Great work Ste.
Thanks Vic! This has been a really enjoyable project to work on to get back into Bolt Action. Taking a slower approach with the extra details and weathering has certainly helped 🙂
Makes me wish I had a regular opponent to actually make different armies to try. Looking Great!
It's been a long time since I played Bolt Action regularly but hopefully a few games will be coming soon. It will be great to start putting some Bolt Action battle reports back on the channel 🙂
Really nice work, I like the metal on the BAR!
Cheers dude! Like I said on the Facebook group, Vallejo Gunmetal with a drop of black and a Nuln Oil wash seems to work 🙂
Nicely done Ste. The Italeri M10's do look good with the crew and stowage.
Thanks Leslie and definitely agree about the M10 kit, really nice to work with, goes together well and the extra work with the stowage and crew certainly adds to them 🙂
The force is looking brillint Ste. Great work.
Cheers Cal, I'm really pretty chuffed with it so far. It was a little bit daunting getting back into Bolt Action painting and I was a bit worried I'd lose motivation again but I'm definitely enjoying working on this 😀
Great work ste the project is coming along nicely like the infantry
Thanks mate, much appreciated! Really enjoying this one, its been a lot slower than my other Bolt Action projects but very happy with it. The US infantry box is a wonderful kit 🙂
Cracking work, Matey!
Cheers Chris! I'm really happy with how these are turning out so far. Spending an extra bit of time on both the vehicles and infantry seems to be working 🙂

One could merely purchase one of the numerous Vallejo products for adding weathering and grease splotches to scale armor kits…
They look great 👍

Very nice, Ste. At some point I may have to drag out one of my Bolt Action starter armies and get to work on them
Cheers mate! It's been really nice getting back into Bolt Action after quite a long time away from it. It has definitely got my BA painting mojo back! I would certainly recommend that 🙂👍
They look brilliant mate, lovely job👏

Cheers buddy! Ahh, it's always good when new supplies are delivered! I'm already thinking about how I can expand this to 1500 points. Lots of ideas 😃
Nice work! Fan of your work.
That's awesome thank you, really glad you like it! I'm aiming to have another update out soon when I have finished the next four infantry 🙂
Much enjoyed
Cheers Paul, glad you enjoyed it! It's certainly been an enjoyable project to work on in taking a completely different approach to it. Definitely looking forward to gaming with it 🙂

Fantastic work Ste i like the guy with the tommy gun holding it upwards. Have you ever painted flames of war 15mm tanks?
Cheers Lucian, much appreciated! The US infantry box is great for creating some really dynamic poses. Not for a while but I have recently bought the Flames of War Tobruk starter box and I've painted three allied tanks so far. Really enjoying it so far and the Battlefront plastics are fantastic 😀
