Wow, 4.4v p-p of noise on that line, and that 10uF cap cleaned it right up. Might be that SMD cap next to the connector has gone a bit rogue?
It might be telling to measure noise on that line with the ribbon cable to the display disconnected.

Might be an idea Matambale. But then again what's the point the 10 uf didn't help with the problem, its really annoying not having schematics for it.
I think I have to live with it with the slight chance of getting a new display one day. Thanks for watching

I watched Xraytonyb's latest video of a Kenwood 9090 repair the other day, and noticed he has one of the Keithley 2015's also. wonder if he has any documentation......schematic?

Hello Danish, yes I've seen Tony using the 2015 many times. I'm not sure now that schematics would help and I wouldn't bother Tony, he's got a very popular channel and probably gets loads of questions he hasn't got time to answer. I'm now thinking that it's probably one of the display drivers which I can get from digi key for about £17 for two. There is also a used untested complete display board on ebay for £45 but that may have as dim or worse vfd than mine. So I'm not sure which way to go or do nothing at all. But always good to have other peoples input

Hi Nick. I noticed that in the thread "Keithley 2015 DMM Repair" on the EEVblog Electronics Community Forum the OP, amc184, posted a few sections from the schematic. Might it be worth your while trying to contact him and seeing if he has and can share the display board schematic? Maybe some clues as to what U402 and U403 are as the service manual states that these are what drives the display?

Hi Bob, thanks for the comment. I've been in discussion with Joe (Matambale) his opinion Is those two display drivers are most likely the problem. I have their part number from the service manual but those are obsolete, except from dodgy Chinese sellers on eBay. But having taken the board out this morning mine have a slightly different number which are probably a more recent version readily available from digi key for around £17. The other option is a complete used display board on ebay for about £45, these boards are untested so the VFD might be as bad or worse than mine. So I'm wondering about the best way to go, or just do nothing! All the best nick
