- American presidents know that from the moment they wake up to the moment they go to bed, the lens of history is on them. For former President Barack Obama, that lens typically belonged to official White House photographer Pete Souza, who traveled just about everywhere with him. When the White House changed hands, Souza didn't stop telling Obama's story - but he started doing it in a very different way, using the photos he took on the job, to offer a silent commentary on President Trump via social media. He documents it all in his new book, ‘SHADE: A Tale Of Two Presidents.’ Jim Braude was joined by Pete Souza.
I didn't always agree with Obama but I would vote for him if he could run again. He would repair this country. I think he would be the only person who could.

Amen. I adored Obama throughout the '08 campaign and was lovingly grateful for him every single day of his presidency. But after almost 3 years of Trump I feel like a battered wife with severe PTSD. Now, I weep when I look at pics and videos of Obama - both because I miss him excruciatingly, and also because this demented psychopath in the Oval Office kicks this country in the kidney. Every. Goddamn. Day. 😥

I have his first book "Intimate Portraits" it is absolutely amazing and shows what a wonderful, kind, decent, human being Barack Obama is/was. most striking to me is looking at the people in the picture as well. they all looked at Obama with joy and happiness and respect. highly recommend the book worth every penny. how I miss this great man!

That little boy didn’t touch President Obama’s head to see if his hair felt like his, he did it because President Obama told him that it not only felt like his, but it was the very same as his, and that is why it is beautiful. It was so beautiful.

Joe Me Obama inherited an economy that was on the verge of a depression. His economy grew for a record number of years. He introduced health care reform after many presidents failed. He had the respect of the world. The world thinks Twump is a joke

As much as I enjoyed not having any commercials, I wish there was one so that I could call all my friends and tell them to watch it! I am looking forward to reading Pete Souza's book, "Shade, A Tale of Two Presidents." My sympathy to Pete on the recent loss of his mother. Ironic, that she questioned his career choice to become a photographer...

I like this interview, the interviewer seemed prepared and he asked the pertinent questions to elicit the information that he wanted. I hate when a reporter/interviewer asks a question the length of an ebook.

Intelligence just adds grace to your abilities - I take every bit of guidance from Obama’s leadership skills - phenomenal! Ghandi , MLK , Mandela , mother Teresa , Maybe Kennedy and then Obama - can’t think of any other true leaders in history and damn , I know my history !
