My father was sal zeuner rip he rode with stu and pk and Byron Friday. He was a dg factory rider. My granny put all the west coast guys up in her house in Vineland NJ when they were here on the east coast. These videos are amazing and is allowing me to see what my old man was doing all those years ago. Keep it radical. Sal
Man, great throwback to my bmx experience in the early 80’s.. We built trails/tracks by hand with shovels, pick axes and rakes.. We carved them thru the drainage ditches and the woods.
I just got back in to BMX racing this year. I’m now 48 years old. Last time I had raced was in ‘91. The tracks of today are far more technical and aggressive than yesteryears, which is great. I’m having a blast!
You have the best videos they literally bring a tear to my eye . It's great seeing my heros as as a kid . Also seeing them then and now thank you and keep making more videos .
customvideo454 I actually have a 20” Powerlite that I ride around the neighborhood now. Sadly, the closest track is 2 hours away. Maybe a good thing though, the last time I tried to race I almost killed myself.
Nice video, cool to see the legends as adults fondly recalling those years in California when it was all new and wild. BMX was such a fantastic alternative for those of us--and I was a kid in California back then--who weren't much into the boring sports which they played at school.
I'm 37 now , working on saving for a 26 cruiser bmx , kos Kruiser or a se om flyer , rode with my buddies as a kid tearing up trails here in Florida never raced on a track just had fun on my thrown together bmx bike (db frame , gt forks , rl rims and hubs , mongoose bars and a dominator seat and gt seat post total Frankenstein lol and comp 3 gumwalls) we had a hoard of spare parts and busted bikes
For anybody who never raced Corona, ca. It was a down hill monster. Fast track, long track. Tore it up mid 80s ..it had a dirt oval for cas n flat track.. and a huge MX track.
My Grand Son now rides the same Mongoose I rode in 1976. Sure, I could've bought him a new bike yet where's the fun in that? And when he turns 16, he gets my 1978 Camero I bought for $600 in 1981.
There were a lot of bikes being built like motorcycles with shocks. I had one. I could ram curbs full speed no problem. The day I rode out of the bike shop with my Motomag Mongoose, I got two flat tires a minute later when rammed the curb fast. No shocks. I didn't know how to bunny hop yet.
My 10 speed racing team mate, used to smoke Thompson all the time, when he was racing BMX. Then, he moved up to Tour de France style racing. Much tougher racing.

I remember the ole Rubber Band Starting Gate!!
The person at the end almost always got it wrapped up in their spokes! 🤣🤣

I prefer old-school race bikes and the style everyone had!

Makes me wish I had a time machine. Man I miss that stuff.

More good footage for my mid-life crisis. Thanks
Wonderful video. You can see why mountain bikes came on the scene after seeing them race on downhill tracks hey!

How cool is this.
I was nothing like my cousin Mike salido I’d bend pedals and rims that’s why we ran tuff wheels and aluminum pedals at that time
Love those dudes Eric rupe
The tracks where way better back then
Schwinn with buffalo bars and heavy duty rims. Haha..thats the beginning.

ABA BMX history lesson? ABA isn't even mentioned. I came here for a lesson on history of the ABA. False Title! Click Bait! Dislike!
nuby douche ABA wasn't even thought of when BMX first began that was when it was real
Wow, react much?
@@jacobjames1171 Yeah, I hate any clickbait. I hate getting tricked into watching a video by a lying title.
