Why do you need traction bars ladder bars. From experience in a Ram 3500 cummins

    You’re overloaded spring controls axle wrap. You could save yourself all this effort by adding spacers in your overload springs. Basically causing you to be in the overload with less compression. 🕺🕺🕺

    Great explanation. Makes perfect sense how the airbags aren't letting the spring/axle do there job to handle a power load. Track bars is the way to go.

      Popularity Matters airbags are used for leveling the truck rear which helps distribute weight to the front axle. The rear springs still do the same work without air bags.

    Yes, I would get rid of the diff cover, but most definitely don't never ever weld on your frame. Drillin IS a pain but won't ever crack.

    Have you seen the gale banks videos about the aftermarket differential covers and how they don’t perform as well as the stock diff?

    Thanks for the info Paul! I've got a 2021 Ram 3500 with the Cummins on order. Sure anxious to get it. Probably the heaviest load I will pull would be a 5th wheel toyhauler. I'm just anxious to get it! Thanx again for all your info! God bless!

    Not to knock you down but the way you explained the way trac bars work can be pretty confusing for someone who isn’t knowledgeable, I definitely understand what you’re saying and helped me fully understand how trac bars work and how they can help me, but for someone inexperienced they are going to be completely lost, glad you got the notepad out, the visuals definitely help

    I would ditch the aftermarket diff cover. Stock cover is actually better.

    So Trac Bars reduce axle wrap and allow the drive-line to stay at the proper angle for towing and lifting purposes. Never knew what they were for, thought they were just for the guys with lifts

      Matthew Stencel in know in the Jeep/off-road world, those bars are key. The longer those bars, the farther you can have your axle move up and down. Long arm lift prevent the axle from moving forward and backwards by increasing the radius of the bar

    The diff actually turns UP. Unless I'm misunderstanding your explanation, you're not thinking about this quite right. When you apply power with a heavy load the tires are trying to roll forward. The harder they try to turn forward the more the axle has to resist that force in the opposite direction. As a result the pinion of the rear end is actually forced up not down like I think you're trying to say. As far as hopping and bucking is concerned as you know this is caused by the leafs flexing back to their static position and backed to their "tensioned" state when under load.
    Again, maybe I'm misunderstanding your explanation.

      @@pddieselpower I didnt want to be "that guy" to come in and point out flaws but for someone trying to learn it was a significant thing not to understand correctly. Otherwise it was totally spot on.
      One thing I'd love to hear you make a video on is transmission tuning/built transmission for towing. My 4l60 on my 05 silverado 1500 recently went out. Long story short it now has a 2500 stall torque converter, with a bunch of heavy duty components inside with much firmer shift tuning and no torque management. Despite the rest of the truck being totally unchanged the towing performance is a night and day difference. I think guys go after more and more power for towing performance and forget that getting that power to the rear wheels is just as important!

    Wheel hop is the equal and opposite reaction to twist being applied on the rear end. You have to overcome the force of that axle wanting to twist upward and drive the wheels.

    Paul, what is your opinion on Torklift stableloads??? I have them on my 2500 and haul a truck camper.. I really like them, but I have never had a truck with airbags to compare them to.

      It does. What most people don’t understand is that pinion angle is forced up and down due to the fixed traction bar. Longevity is gone for rear u joint. Traction bars can save u joints and also destroy u joints depending on application.
