a vaguely remember a george lynch interview where he talked about working the same music store with randy, and how they would kind of rip off each other's licks. the tapping sequence in 'flying high again' was originally lynch's idea, according to him.
GEORGE TAUGHT LESSONS AT RHOADS MOM'S MUSIC SCHOOL..HE GOT KICKED OUT AFTER SHE FOUND HE WAS SELLING PARTS GUITARS TO THE STUDENTS. WAS GOING TO BE OZZYS GUITARIST, AFTER 3 MONTHS OZZY DROPPED HIM.
I like how before the solo starts you can hear a hissing sound and some string rattling. Those amps were recorded loud as fuck probably. That's a marvelous tone.
Yeah, I paid $30 to see Lynch Mob and he threw down his guitar and walked out after berating his stage crew, because his rig wasn't working to his satisfaction. He has made a habit of tantrums about his gear and its *always* someone else's fault. Dude is a Class A dick and owes me $30 for my ticket, $5 for gas and the money I lost taking the night and next day off work.
Can't agree with you there, Rob. Furious George has always been at the forefront of the 80's L.A. metal explosion. While it took Dokken awhile to achieve that platinum album status, Lynch was always mentioned with the greats of the day.
This was/is one of the Best Albums/CDs Ever! If you don't have it yet, BUY IT! There is such a groove and wicked rhythm and melody through out the whole album! You play this at your party in your Miami penthouse, you are going to get laid. 100%
That's gonna be quite the geriatric party in your Miami penthouse, nobody under 50 is listening to that stuff anymore, sadly because it's a great album
I have always said it, and will continue to say it. Lynch is one of the most influential guitarist of the 80's. I put him right up there with Eddie, KK and Glenn, Dave and Adrian, Mick Mars, Jake E Lee, Paul Gilbert and all the 80's metal bands. His guitar work was not all shred and speed. He has this killer blues thing going and his use of the flat fifth (in his words "play between the dots) that made his technique and tone so tasty.
I'd add Warren DiMartini to that list and agree with you. Love his tone, I always wished he had done an album with Ozzy or Dio , think the vocals and that tone wouldve been great together.
@@johnrichjr.415 Not only Warren, but there's several others I could add. I just didn't feel like typing that much! lol I would have included Carlos Cavazo, Vivian Campbell, Marty Friedman and the list keeps going. But you get my drift.
The solo tone is glorious. It's glassy, punchy & percusive. The Screaming Demon is a great pickup. I've only used the Lil Demon but even it sounded great. And I think he was using Soldano & Marshall at this time... Whatever the amp(s) & cabs here are, they sound massive. Thanks for posting this!
@@christopherallen5603 I’m pretty sure the main rhythm tone at least for this tune is a dimed Marshall on the left (most likely his 69 plexi borrowed from aspen Pittman) and his snakeskin soldano on the right, they’re probably blended it seems like

I think for those below that think George is horrible at improvised solos, you need to understand what he was saying when he thought he was really good at this aspect of guitar playing. George didn't mean "give me a chord progression and let's jam".. he meant "playing his solos live in an improvised way".. To me, there is no one better than Lynch at playing an 'improvised take' of his classic solos spur of the moment at a show.. One thing not to forget.. Paul Gilbert is the improvisation master.. he prepares for these types of jams constantly. He is basically a walking encyclopedia of licks.. He just calls up whatever is needed from his vast library when a jam comes along ;) But, that's just my opinion.. What can't be argued is that George Lynch is a national icon of hard rock / heavy metal guitar.. Thank you George!
This album was lightning. in. a. bottle. I've listened to it 1000x more than Passion and Warfare Having said that, I cant believe ive never noticed that little flatted 5th thing he does right before the C#5 - B5 - F#5 - E5 chords. Classic George 😂

Great song. Great album. And a killer guitarist. Lynch was just strate-up nasty when he was writing all this stuff. I'd like to hear Unchain the Night.
3:19 Sounds like a chick from The Grudge or something. It's so cool to hear this song isolated! I mean, I heard some of this stuff, but it sounds so different isolated.
It's funny how George considers himself a great improv guitarist. His improv is usually terrible. What he is amazing at is creating studio solos. He is terrifying in the studio.
I agree. I've seen too many videos of him trying to improv and they aren't good. Mediocre at best but his stuidon solos of the 80s era are some of the best .
I think his KXM stuff has been very creative. They went into the studio with the rule "no prepared stuff" and produced some amazing tracks. As for improve, that's how those amazing studio takes are born. Maybe he takes fewer risks live - I may not have seen enough of his live stuff on RUclips to draw the same conclusion as cyclops centurion and Mike Mooney.
@@IndelibleAndy check out the video of lynch and paul Gilbert on stage improving some blues. Gilbert shreds him and lynch struggled. It was bad. I've see other video like this with him playing live and just not being on it something. Still one of my favorite guitarists of all time though.
I think this is still a mix Aspen Pittman’s Purple Plexi and the SLO. Can’t remember which was for leads and which was for rhythms. IIRC, the Purple Plexi blew up not much longer after this.
Yamaha THR 10X amp can get it on Brown sound 1 and the gain 4is, and master low at about 3-ish. Plate reverb. Go to "Axle Tune" channel, he remade this tone VERY closely!! 🤘
Randy Rhoads' brother has said that if you had asked Randy who his favorite player on the strip was, he would have said George Lynch.

George is so cool he can comfortably wear a heavy leather jacket in the 110° AZ desert

We need more isolated guitar from this album!
there's so much less gain here than I thought there was!
George, to me, has always and wrongly been super underrated. The man is extremely gifted with talent.

@UCcmJZvzXayO_cyPFxZs-Q-g Just like George murders it on guitar?
Phil Rudd was great at drumming. Murder for hire, no so much.
