This is the first reaction where I’m thinking he absolutely gets it. Magic was so special to watch and I’m so glad that I got to watch him while I was growing up.
Great reaction and analysis youngster! Magic is the reason I fell in love with the sport in 1979. He's my favorite player all-time. I was fortunate to have seen him in person many times and never did I leave the arena dissatisfied. The way he ran the fast-break was magical. There will never be another point-guard like him. NEVER! And that other 6'9 cat is a cadaver compared to Magic's fluidity with the handles.
I grew up in the 70s in Los Angeles Ca watching the Lakers. Magic Johnson was Showtime back then. The energy his presence brought to the floor was magical. Never got to see a game in person, we all looked forward to to playoffs. Especially if the Lakers and Celtics were playing against each other.
What impressed me with Magics passing, is both the variety of passes & the SPEED of his passes.
There had to have been a few facial bruises & sprained finger joints from practices, haha.
agreed...like when he not looking ur way when he passes, makes u a second behind reacting to the pass...and then add that speed, ouch!!!!
You had too many gems in here to quote all of them, but know that I reached for my inhaler twice from wheeze laughin hard as hell.
In this video turned up a memory I forgot about. One of the only times I ever heard my grandmother curse, was watching the Lakers in a playoff game. She was die hard for that Showtime Laker lineup.
Ok Grams...out here rooting on!
17:06 you can see the pain in his eyes in this frame. Magic retired at age 32 and only played 12 full seasons and went to 9 finals. His last season he was 2nd in MVP voting and led his team to the finals. He had a lot of basketball left in him. With his game he could've easily played until 40.

9× All-NBA First Team (1983-1991)

Because of Magic Johnson I started playing basketball early... I was really talented but my body didn't want to grow (fast) enough and stopped at 1.80m (5' 11"), so I quit... Greetings from Germany!
Aye, thats dope inspiration to get into basketball from!!
This was the basketball i grew up on Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem, and Magic, this was Showtime
i was fortunate to be at Magics Last game, it was bittersweet
You're one of the few who understands the difference between Magic. the greatest PG of all time and LeBron, who maybe can put the ball on the floor a couple times as long as there's no defensive pressure. Magic. at 6'9 is the greatest ball handler ever. LeBron doesn't have elite ball handling skills.
Check out his highlights from his 87 season if you want to see his jump shots. MVP season.
Thanks for showing my favorite, all time GOAT highlights....plus, that hand (phone) call to Miss Johnson was classic😂....I saw that game and that play....took Eddie Johnson clean out of the view of the Camera 😅...certain players can do that to another player with fancy dribbling...but only Magic can do that with a Pass
I know these are highlights, but he made these passes all the time. It was so much fun to watch him work.
“Hello… yeah, come get’cha son. He just lost both his ankles. We ain’t carrying him. Bring some crutches or a stretcher or something”
Not word for word but you know 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love watching these videos of when I loved the game...with the way the game has become LeBron isn't even in my top 10
“Mrs Johnson?… we just wanted to let you know your son lost his ankles…. Pshh yeah playin the lakers…. Yeah you gon havta come get him…. He got ankles!” 😂😂😂😂
Like watching some good ole Billy Shakespeare. Maniac!
The ankle thief is at it again!
10:41 Best Laker list in order
Magic
Kareem
Mikan (set the standard of 5 rings & 1st goat of the NBA)
Kobe
West (if we count his GM role he moves up #2 as he was the architect of Showtime and the Lake Show)
Shaq
Wilt (strictly based on as a Laker)
LeBron (if he gets another ring that puts us ahead of the Celtics he jumps to #5 and will get a statue.)
Mikan also 3peat, 52-54.
Obviously Magic's vision of the court was probably his biggest asset allowing him to make all those amazing passes, no look etc., but his body control was amazing too, just imagine a huge 6 foot 9 guy doing spin moves like it's nothing. And the fact that he could recover from those huge fakes and instead of dishing it bring the ball back and lay it in without losing the handle.
There needs to be a highlight reel of the times Magic's passes bounced off his teammate's faces because they weren't ready for it, I bet it happened a ton of times.
LEGENDS roamed the NBA in the 80's.
Comment gang here to show support.
Thank you Jo!!!!!
Build your team around Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and interchange the rest of your team and you would rarely lose.
Both Magic and Bird changed basketball forever..... 1) Bird played like a no humor brutal resentful Soviet engineer. 2) Magic played like a loving passionate Italian designer. I don't think you can compare them together.
#1 choice if you want to build a team. Wins were more important than stats, which he had. Then pick #2,3,4,5 the scorers, defense and rebounders. But you start with Magic.
"What do you DO when he on the court?"
Sit back, and watch. It's all you can do.
You have to do Jason "white chocolate" Williams
Not known for his fg attempts but still has higher fg % than bird and jordan.
My no 1 player, love his game.
As a pistons fan longtime fan....magic is the greatest Laker
Great reaction my man! Can you react to Jordan's Historic bulls mixtape made by the NBA?
Best Laker ever, lol Kobe and Shaq are right there then you got Magic and Kareem, Chamberlain, West, Worthy, then Lebron
80’s best decade of basketball. Jordans goat but bulls never had a real rival. Knicks were closest thing to their rivals and they weren’t a great team.
Honestly the NBA got kind of lucky that Magic and Bird came along at the same time. League popularity was kind of meh before that. The level of play wasn't as good among other teams. Pistons were good and eventually knocked off the Celtics, but the Lakers weren't challenged too much in the West. Magic and Bird blew up the NBA and basketball in general, and Converse!
Yuuurrrr
7:56 naw bro Johnson gets a pass on them broken ankles. The man faked the pass into a faked layup into a dime! All that in 1 second. You still reacting to the first move and he's fine got you with two more! The man didn't score by choice. Once Kareem retired his scoring went up. Do you defend the pass out the shot? Pick your poison either way you picked wrong! 😂 😂 😂
Constructive criticism: a) don't just summarize what we just saw, we all have eyes.... put your take on it. b) Don't be lazy and go "my bad, technical difficulties"; EDIT, EDIT, EDIT, then post your video.
