I once commented on a video that I could not believe that some driver somewhere would not get out of the car and beat up the person trying to scam them, since it is, in effect, someone trying to steal from them. In response, someone sent me a link to a driver doing just that to a scammer. The scammer jumps out in front and lands on the guy's hood, who gets out, picks up the scammer, and punches him in the face for a while before tossing him to the side of the road. Also note that if someone pulls out in front of you and slams on the brakes and you hit them (and have a dashcam to prove it), they get charged with reckless driving so their insurance goes up as well as pays for your damages, with a possible insurance fraud charge thrown in. You better have a dashcam.

I had an insurance scam played on me. When I was younger I was scared and in a hurry so I just exchanged info with someone. Then later at school my dad called me over and over so I answered telling the teacher it had to be an emergency. Turns out we were being sued by insurance for one of the most ridiculous numbers I’ve ever heard. It was well in the range of half a million dollars. The kind of money my parents could never pay. Luckily everything we able to be sorted out with insurance though. Guess we were lucky. I just couldn’t believe it. It hadn’t been a few hours before she was claiming hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical damages, and basically wanting her entire car replaced claiming I caused all the damage that was previously on her car. She was from California and obviously not too bright because she told some tall tales. How does someone bumping you so softly that no damage is seen cause the front sides of your car to crumple in? How does it cause your front lights to crack? Lol the only thing that was even slightly believable was the neck injury, but that wasn’t even true because I wasn’t even going 5 mph. It’s so sad that the people in America are so starved for the same lifestyles as the rich, that they will go sue happy trying to steal money legally from people.
@@AVCH In the US, you don't make the choice of whether the person get paid or not.. only the insurance company does (unless you pay them cash directly, which I would never advise...). They very likely settled for a lower (but still absurd number) out of court because it's cheaper than fighting it. As part of the settlement with insurance, the claimant has to agree to not pursue additional damages from the policy holder. Unless she actually told them it was a low speed collision, she probably got her car repaired and medical bills covered at least.
Almost the same thing happend to me when i was younger and i had to go to court for 2 years getting it settled. Had a friend that was teaching his daughter to drive when they were involved in a variation of a 'Brake check', They were reversing out of a cul de sac, and a car stopped to let them out. The car immediately behind that though, raced out and hit their car. the driver got out checked the damage then demanded 20,000 euro. And told the daughter she'd 'go to jail' if he reported them. He then got in his car called a friend to come and claim they witnessed the crash, then got in his car and held his neck and started groaning when the ambulance arrived. Luckily, my friend had the presence of mind to called me and a couple of other lads... and one of our security vehicles turned up (with a HD dash cam) and two security officers exited the vehicle with a first aid kit (and both with HD chest cams). What the dickhead and his mate didn't realize was that the road was a private road on an estate we managed and that they'd been caught on at least a dozen high quality camera's. The two security lads did 'first aid' to the driver and asked if he could move he weakly said he couldn't and was 'frightened he'd never run a marathon again'. He also said he hadn't moved from the car at all since the accident. While all this is happening and everyone is waiting for the ambulance, another couple of the lads at the security centre are checking the guys' Facebook profile (which strangely enough, made no mention of marathons) and the site CCTV camera's. And set about burning disks of the footage. At one point while he thought no one was watching the scammer leaned out of his car, grinned, winked and gave a thumbs up and rubbed his left thumb and forefinger together to his friend standing behind the car before sitting back and clutching his neck. The guys manning the CCTV radioed the two 'first aiders' and told them what they'd just seen and asked to check on the driver and ask if he was feeling any better. Obviously he said he still couldn't move and the pain was 'excruciating'. When the ambulance arrived they were accompanied by the police, the two police looked at each other when they saw the incident and they both gave a look of 'oh no not this prick again'. Anyhow, the case came to court, and rather gamely our company provided a company solicitor for my friend. The solicitor instructed the insurance not to pay until after the court case. Being the defendant, my friend didn't have to disclose the fact we had about two an hour and a half of CCTV footage until the solicitor chose to play it in court - we even had photographs of the driver outside the court, walking to his car unaided, putting on a neck brace and taking crutches out of the boot. The driver and his friend were charged with attempted fraud.
@@AleksPTA - unfortunately there are no perjury laws in Ireland (not at the moment- but they are on the way). It was suggested that "attempting to obtain money by menaces" (where they demanded 20,000 or the daughter would go to Jail), "Driving without due care and attention" (driving around / overtaking a vehicle that was stopping), and "Criminal damage" (to my colleagues car by deliberately colliding with it) be added to the charge sheet by some colleagues to the arresting officers. But they were told that it was bordering on 'facetious litigation'.

This happened to my uncle, the dude took him to court, but ge didnt know my uncle had a dash cam, and then my uncle just showed the dashcam footage as evidence and bro had to pay up 😂
i realize what im about to say reveals how psychotic i really am. if someone intentionally jumps in front of your car, and you do run them over. get out to see if they are ok "Oh my god are you alive?" wait for them to grunt or say something, wait until they look you right in the eyes "i cant believe ive failed the hit, im going to have to do this the messy way", pull out a gun and double tap right beside them, kneel down so you are talking in their ear "be glad you are still alive".
That's a rookie move. Let them hire a lawyer and take you to court. Let them get eyeball-deep into things. Reveal the dashcam footage as late as you can in the process. Let the lawyer they hired, the insurance companies, and the legal system rake them over the coals for every penny they're worth. That's the pro move, and that's how you teach a scam artist a lesson.

Yeah the dashcam is a saviour because otherwise you wouldn`t be able to prove that the guy infront is reckless.

Sadly that is the world we live, im glad you didn`t pay her.
Best part was in her statement she put ''i used to be able to uave sex with my husband everyday, now i cant even 2 times a week'' like whaaaa???

Nice (yep read that all)
Should have had their license revoked or something.
A wonderfull story with happy ending
Only attempted fraud? Couldn't get them on evidence under oath?
@@AleksPTA - unfortunately there are no perjury laws in Ireland (not at the moment- but they are on the way).
