Decoupage is gluing paper onto stuff decoratively. Like getting napkins with pretty flower art on them, cutting out the shape and gluing that down (like with mod podge) into a box to make a decorative box. This was a craft a lot of OLD ladies used to do when I was a kid so I always associate this with old ladies as an Old Lady Craft. LOL A few years back I used plain black and purple tissue paper to Decoupage a plain cardboard box into a pretty gothy box to house a wedding gift for my gothy cousin and her husband. It's a fun and interesting craft. I've even seen where Japanese mothers Decoupage their children's school shoes so the child can tell their's apart from their classmates!

This is stamped cross stitch, where the design has been stamped onto fabric.
The kind that is done on aida cloth (a specially woven fabric) is called counted cross stitch, where you use a coded pattern to make the design on blank aida cloth by counting the woven squares to determine stitch placement.

It's the cloth that people used to use to wrap up lunch boxes or to fashion into a bag (I have learned the art is pretty old but the current generation isn't really learning about it!!). It's really interesting to learn. And trust me, having a lil grandma trying to teach you how to tie a knot probably makes for the purest type of comedy out there!

I totally just did that with Halloween stuff at Michaels. Did I get plastic bat jar filler, 2 in plastic skulls, and 2 packs of halloween themed washi tape (I'm spooky year round though y'all, lol) for projects yet to be determined? Yes. Did I have to seriously restrain myself around the venus fly trap Little Shop of Horrors-esqe fake floral stems? Absolutely. I have to avoid the arts and craft sections of stores, even Walmart, unless I ABSOLUTELY need something, and then I have to put my metaphorical blinders on so I don't get distracted. I'm even bad about having to take stuff back out of my Amazon cart! "Do I really need this kit or these pencils?" My cart always gets at least an overnight cooling off period to shave away impulse buying.

Let it dry and varnish it to make sure it will stay on.

Decoupage is the layering of paper and glue for decorative purposes, usually on glass bottles and small boxes. the paper is similar to tissue paper used for wrapping gifts or lining boxes to protect fancy products. the "poor man's" decoupage glue is made with elmers school glue (the kind used in slime recipes) and water to make it thin.

  • @adomanillo2032
    @adomanillo2032 4 года назад +1

Decoupaging is the act of taking different types of papers or pictures to cover up something and give it a new look. Think of paint, you buy a picture frame and you want it to be a different color, so you paint it. Decoupaging is taking paper using glue to adhere it to the frame to give it a pattern or new style. Most common glue for decoupaging is modpodge. But you can decorate with almost any kind of paper or picture, such as making a bench with comics using paper from a newspaper or comic books.

The kit you got is a little overpriced but it does include everything you need and is perfect for the first time! If you want to continue x-stitching after completing this kit I’d recommend going to Walmart - they have a huge selection of floss of different colors and they’re cheap. You can find almost any design you want online for free or use a special website to turn any image into an x-stitching pattern. Good luck!

You can make decoupage by gluing paper onto paper/things and covering with laquer/nail polish too. Decoupage paper is very thin, so when you smear decoupage glue (a combination of glue and laquer) onto it, it will both stick and get covered by a protective layer (thicker paper might be too thick for the glue to go through it. With napkin decoupage, it is normal to take away the second layer of the napkin to make sure that you get only what you want, that the glue goes through and that there will be (almost) no wrinkles.

Decopauge is an English form of art.....the paper is actually a tissue and one tissue has three layers or two layers...you remove all the layers except the printed one....you tear it from the edges with hand not scissors so that it sticks well...then you put decopauge paper on the surface then put the tissue on and then put the decopauge glue back on...it is the art of sticking paper on objects........you can use mod podge that is also decopauge glue because the one u got is very small...it will probably get over in one or two projects...you can also use normal tissue to do decopauge that has a nice pattern......I also doart and crafts and I do decopauge a lot....love from india...love your vids jackie

Crossstitch is usually not printed on the cloth. You cat patter is on evenweave and that can have a learning curve.

I would love to watch a video on the colored pencils. I think you will like the cross stitching that you got. Just don't give up on it. I find cross stitching very relaxing and it helps your eyes become stronger and fingers with preventing arthritis.

I used to love decoupage!!!! Thanks for reminding me about it. I'm sure I have bits somewhere. You use it with glue a bit like collaging meets paper mache. I decorated glass candle holders, photo frames, tobacco tins and furniture. I have a full leopard print decoupage chair, it's not at all comfy but I made it and love it 😂

I live in Japan and I recognised SOOOOO many of these things! The watercolours are really good by the way and they’re very pigmented and I use brushes from Daiso and they don’t shed as much as other cheap brushes.

The decoupage glue is the same as mod podge (at least if you wanna glue in wood) Y worked in an art supermaket and we used to sell a lot of that stuff, here we use a special kind of napkins to glue on diferent kinds of materials (glass included). If you use it on wood, it does look like you just paint it, and gives a really cool texture
Sorry for english, i'm from Argentina 😂

My mother and I done cross stitching and by the time you buy the hoops the printed pattern and all the colored thread plus needles yes it's a good deal. Our closest walmart is an HR away so the only place in our town that sold that for of thread was always so expensive. That's why we gave it up. Close to $15 for the pattern alone not to mention the $3 per pack of thread.

Another word for droopier would be drape. The stiffer fabric is probably cotton. Washing may soften it a bit. Love Daiso, we have one close to us.
