On Zegras, we have been seeing him grow a lot better defensively but he has no one good on the team to teach him more about faceoffs aside from being just tossed to the fire
I like Larkin, but he's not a superstar. The 33 goals he had last year was his career high in 10 seasons so far. He's not a future hall of famer, and although I would say he is a very good player and a good captain, he's not a superstar.
The crime here is that he’s been on a bottom tier team and he viewed as a bottom tier 1c when his skill level is higher than that. Imagine if he had a playoff team. His point totals would be higher and viewed as such. He has forced half his goals with a floundering style of play. And the first half of his career that line up was torturous
No and no. Larkin chose to resign with a shitty team. You guys need to understand this is a job for them. They just want to get paid. Winning is so far down the list on so many players. It's about getting as much money in the short careers a hockey player has. Wasted talent? For who? They got paid. Team filled seats. That's all that matters in the business.
@@Civ1710how so? larkin was born and raised in michigan, he is loyal to the wings. it was his dream to play there. why would he care if he wins if he can play on HIS team
I don't wanna see this garbage larkins heart and soul is i Detroit he's a Michigan kid grew up seeing the wings win cups he wants to win more then anyone else we could draft or trade for he wants to win a cup for the red wings
So, Zegras has given up most of his offensive play to get better defensively….. but is still friclen bad defensively and now isn’t getting points either. That is an issue.
We’ll never know how many goals Larkin could have had. He’s been asked to be a 200’ player because Detroit just can’t build a blue line. Every forward seems to gets worse after they come to Detroit cause they’re all moonlighting as D line.
Nobody is wasting anyone’s potential. Larkin signed on to captain this team through the rebuild. He’s playing on a line with a multiple time 40 goal scorer and a budding point per game winger in Raymond. He plays on the power play with those two players as well as hall of famer Patrick Kane and Calder winner moritz seider. What a horrible situation. Let’s be real, this post was made by a red wings fan who talks about firing the entire team after every loss. Larkin knew what he signed on to. He’s playing well this season. Red wings fans just want everything done all at once. The fact is that this team has improved every single season so far under Yzerman. They went from a barren farm system to a top 5 prospect pool. They have Larkin, Raymond, seider, and debrincat locked up. They have team control over edvinsson and kasper. They have very good players in every position waiting to crack the nhl lineup with multiple veteran contacts coming off the books after this season. The doom and gloom over a poor first quarter of a season where they were never expected to be more than a wild card team is becoming so tiring
Alot of really good players deserve cups, but this is reality and I don't think larkin would want to go anywhere. Is entire life and foundation is in michigan.
Zegras has made strides this season in developing his all-round game. I just don't think Anaheim is no longer a good fit for him. I was hoping that SY would trade for him instead of resigning Kane and signing Tarasanko, plus it would have been cheaper. TZ would've brought some potential excitement to the Soulless Wings.
I heard NHL Network talking today about how it seems like Zegras will eventually be traded, but they couldn't think of a team that would be interested. Calgary seems super obvious to me, other than it's in the division.
I say the Canucks buy low and sell high on Zegras. We have to take some risks if we want to win now. If it works out, we get a top 6 guy. If not, his contract is done after next year anyways, we had much worse contacts.
Sergei Federov was just seen in Detroit today. I'm not sure if he is going to be the new head coach, but I think he is here for datsyuk hockey hof. Would be cool to see him be the new head coach.
He 100% is just here for Pav. I don’t see him being our next coach. Plus, I’m pretty sure he’s the head coach of a KHL team right now, but I could be wrong.
Larkin is on an awful team for most of his career. If he was smart he would have signed a short term contract and then moved on from Detroit. There clearly has not been a light at the end of tunnel for his career. He’ll be lucky to make the playoffs with Detroit.
Detroit has not been a lottery team yet and it shows. Love Raymond but they had fair and square rights on picking #3 for Stutlze, yet NHLinc had other ideas. Had this team had a 1C Larkin and 2C Stutlze (247 career points) the build would be vastly different right about now.
what is really funny is you think if they Stutlze - that Larkin would be 1C . I know the locals can't handle it but on a good team he would be a 2C . That does not mean he is a bad player - he is a good player - he is not a headlining player. never has been

Wasted not yet - but I feel like he def took less money as did a few other he wants to bring the cup back I get that but they really do need to give him more the a line and half - look how good he did on all star game 5 points in that game I know we can’t really use that but Stevie y was not the best player but on the team when they got really good - Sergi was - and he had so many weapons around him I don’t expect that but good lord give him more speed I find it really hard to believe they can’t bring in a few players - Kane should be used as.offensive threat a speciality player- I Frankly don’t see them using a lot of there players correctly - last year we let them run and gun - they need to get back to that because our defense is going to fold even at the best for times this year but this crap they can’t get a legit second line is bull - they have more then a few players they can trade now -
