    Thank you so much! It was very easy to do and follow your great step by step instructions! I installed a new one after 17,000 miles and will clean and vacuum the original filter for the next time. Going to the dealership this week and will spend less and tell them not to change it. Just a word of caution: dealerships go by what the computer maintenance records say and they do not look at the filter first. They can change it, you get charged!

    Great video.I changed mine today but did not need to slip the catch on the right side off.Removed the right and left side pins and Viagra glove box dropped.Easy peezy.Saved a lot of cash by doing it yourself.

      Glad it helped you! the only reason I disconnect the damper on the end is to prevent any hyperextension. But happy to hear nothing happend to the arm.

    Some cabin filters have a directional arrow. It points down. The cabin blower motor sucks air in from the engine bay area and blows it into the cabin.

    That was really, really good. Simple and thorough. Got it in my head now to do it later. Thanks!

    Thank you! Hyundai said it’d be $30 to replace it, not including the cost of the filter. I said BS and that I’d learn to do it myself!

    I received the dealer call and email about due maintenance. I took it for the oil change and knew they were going to pull out the 3 maintenance packages that makes them money but offer really no value to you. I don't remember all 3 but the one they wanted to scam me with was the $160 which included tire rotation, air filter replacement, oil change, a # of point inspections. I told him I only wanted the oil change. The tone of the guy changed and was not a nice guy anymore. The guy also wanted to charge me for a non existence recall on my model. I had previously looked up the recall campaigns of my vehicle straight from Hyundai and there weren't any. He said I probably didn't use the right Vin # LOL. The recall seems to be a dealer "recall" for a ECM update because it is not in the Hyundai recall campaign. They wanted to charge $160 extra for that but when they knew I was armed with information and screenshots from the recalls they changed their tuned and said the recall is included in the warranty. DON'T LET DEALERS DO THIS TO YOU. MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE GOING THERE. I'M THROUGH WITH THEM. I'm here to learn where that air filter is so that I can just do it myself. Tire rotations are free with an oil change at Pep Boys. I will make sure I use the good oil instead of recycle oil, though.

    I don't have my two ton jack anymore. So I can do my own oil changes. I just got back from take 5. They charge 115.00 dollars altogether. Crazy. But they also said. I needed to change my filters. Which would be another 100 and something. So I'm doing this myself, when I can buy both filters for 35 bucks. They are charging 60 for one and 30 for the other. That's outrageous.

    This is a possibly dumb question, but I don’t see an air flow indicator on the filter. How will I know if I’ve installed it correctly?

    Strange you weren't prepared with a new one to install right then.

      I check mine periodically because I work near a quarry where they are back filling. It's really dusty and I just check to see if I need to replace it any sooner. Thanks for watching!

      Understand. So this is your car. I have a 17 Elantra with pop and tech packages. My car has a fairly large cord or group of wires that go right over the left corner and covers the tabs on the filter. No slack to move it. It was difficult to deal with, but finally was able to get it done! My car has been great, bought new, has 52.000 miles on it now. No problems at all. Hope yours has been great too. Thx for the vid.

    What would be the best way to clean it vs purchasing a new one right away?

    • @dodgermspt
      @dodgermspt  4 года назад

      If you have a air compressor with a blowgun attachment you can blow it out from the clean side out. You want to push all the dirt away from the filter as possible

  • @bl00dline360
    @bl00dline360 6 лет назад +1

    How often does it need too be changed?

    • @dodgermspt
      @dodgermspt  6 лет назад +1

      it is listed in the manual in the maintenance section to replace at every oil change @ 7500 miles but I check mine and see if it is dirty. if it is I will replace it if not I will let it go a little longer. it just filters the outside air and dirt that you breathe. Also if you notice that the fan is not blowing as hard or sounds like it is struggling I suggest you change it.

    Here's a question though. Air filter has arrow printed on the side. One would think the arrow says this side up. But it can also mean airflow. In this case the arrow has to point down when you put the filter in. Anyone knows the answer?

    • @M1sterFancyPants
      @M1sterFancyPants Год назад

      Depends on the car, so check your owner's manual. For my 2017 Elantra, the airflow arrow should point down
