I sang this song in a choir and the song was conducted by her. I was an amazing honor to have it be conducted by the writer.

I had the chance to work with Rosephanye’s husband at an honor choir and her work is incredible. Just like her husband’s directing.

I sang this at my all city last year and I could swear it changed my life. The conductor changed it o us but surprised all of us because he said we weren’t singing Still I rise but we ended up singing it. It’s a very beautiful song and I really just love it.

We are performing this wonderful, uplifting, can't sit still song at our Sing For America concert in San Francisco this coming sunday the 16th (Sunday after Easter) at the Palace of Fine Arts. What a pleasure! Thank you, Rosephanye Powell!

For the Director: Always teach your kids how to bow after the performance is finished. They just wondered. Well performed.

This song has been sitting in my choir folder for a while now. We're learning a crap ton of songs right now. I decided to search this one up, and I LOVE this recording! First time listening to it or learning it. The soloist at the beginning could be on broadway.

I want to know what the "weird" song that they sang right before this one. I'm betting it was just fine.

Great performance, I absolutely love the work of Dr. Powell! (Doing "Get Busy" with my own chorus right now, actually). However, the person filming might have done better to take out all the applause and the "That was weird" comment at the beginning...

Is this piece always performed with three soloists?

We are currently singing this in the choir that i am in and you can in reality have as many soloists as you prefer we have 5 or 6 soloists

My choir has done just it with one, but recently with two: one on the first verse and a different one on the second, although our second soloist started singing earlier when it was higher, so the first soloists part could have been divided even more if necessary. I think it works well that way as long as all the soloists are equally strong. The part at the end is all ad libbed, it is not written into the music as are the lyrics for the first two soloists. So for that, you want someone who is comfortable with that style. If you have two soloists, they can call and respond to each other at the end, or you could have more singers doing that, and repeat the choir part as long soloists are improvising.

You are probably going to think "why did she reply to my 2-year-old comment" but hey I wanted to answer your question. We are currently doing this piece at my school and I am the soloist as we only have one. I think it is relative to the choir. I am just quite nervous for the ending and looking for inspiration because I have never adlibed in my life!!! Hope you have a fantastic day, night whenever you see this!! Keep living life and persuing what makes you happy!!
