You've became one of the guys i listen to draw along with Marc and Whyt when I switch off my music keep it up the great work man.
thank you so muchhhh! that means alot to me fr
Wait u watch Marcel and whyt as well!? Awesome what a coincidence
@@phiweelamampembe8946 ong
marcel is one of the most popular drawing yts it isnt that huge of a coincidence tho
Kuzomari too
5:00 as a programmer who always want to learn how to draw, I exactly see the drawing process as a math algorithm, and belive me, math isn't hard as everybody things.
yup! i feel even more confident about my method now that a programmer agrees w me lol and math just sucks. i know its not that hard but personally, i hate it yo hahah
Fellow programmer here (aspiring one anyway) and I agree. Unfortunately it also makes it so I don't have much time to practice both things lol
Sir how can i get better at math lol
@@Aniologi might sound corny but practice works, going out of your way to learn math more, you have to spend more time learning math, you have to put in the work
@@AniologiGo to Alcumus Art of Problem solving and just do the problems and read the explanations. Get the Art of Problem solving books too, Intermediate Algebra is the best one
As an extreme art noob, I've been doing the first part. Gonna work on trying the second part more.
I’ve been working on getting more rigorous and actually training my skills instead of just doing random drawings that are ok. And what you covered in this video is pretty much exactly what I plan on doing very soon.
Gave me even more inspiration to end my procastination
Been drawing for a good month now non stop from 8 to 12 at night and ive seen that ive improved. Thx g🔥🔥
Beautiful drawings. Thanks for the tips. Repetition always seems to be the way for most things
You’re such an amazing teacher,, this is my first video on the channel and definitely won’t be my last
I’ve been watching your videos related to human anatomy, and decided to break different parts of the body up to get a good grasp on them. Rn I’m working on the head and human faces, and it’s going pretty well. Thx for the vids man! 😄
That is awesome! im glad i could help at all!
i expected to learn something new or more effective but surprisingly, this is EXACTLY how i practice! while i've done this a lot in the last couple of years, i recently did this with mouths and drew a couple of characters with more dynamic faces. really effective process that I'm happy other people do as well!
one of my new favorite art channels fs, you explain things in an excellent way and have great energy in your videos, love it bro 🔥🔥
This honestly is really helpful for experienced artists too along with those struggling to keep up. As someone who's mental health is a bit shakey, despite drawing for nearly two decades now I still catch myself deteriorating in skills sometimes due to lack of practice and disorganization when I get into really bad mental slumps. When I found your channel recently this reminded me to start doing practices/drills which honestly I have veen long overdue for.
I feel this!
nice, i now have an idea on what to do starting with the face and going down the body. Good thing you showed up in my search
this must be the greatest art video of all time, i cant explain how much time i have spent trying to learn to draw something but not knowing how to practice, this is a gamechanger
I love your tips man, they’re EXTREMELY easy to follow through and covers basically everything 🔥🔥🔥
thank you so muchhhhhh :) Glad to hear it!
I found your channel like an hour ago and I simply can't stop. Now I watched 3 or 4 vids and I want to say thank you for all this content and inspiration
Can’t remember what the quote was but it’s was something about failing hard and fast to get better at something which is why I love your method of paper and pencil first for muscle memory before digital! Makes so much sense thank you 🙏🏽
i have never thought about it this way and i think ima do it like this thanks dd mark for your help
no problem! im glad to help any way i can :)
Repetition is key to muscle memory, just don't forget the fundamentals. I usually start with gesture sketches and work on those before doing anything else.
Thanks man this was what I needed, very precise and to the point
Bro, super insightful. I never thought to do this. Thanks a ton for the heads up.
Man you are so underrated, im really thankful to youtube algorithm for recommending me ur channel lol, ive learned alot and i really enjoyed your draw like ur fav artist series,
HAHAH praise the youtube algorithm! but fr thank you so much, that means a lot to me
This is by far one of the best advice videos I've seen. And you're right. No one else describes what the "practice" part looks like. This formula was straight forward and hit the truth of the question. Excellent job here man! Thank you so much! 👏
No problem! i try to be as practical as i can i give advice
Just started drawing hope my journey hope to see more of your videos so I can learn more
This is a really great method. I want to do this method but I'm so scatter brained in a way. While I can focus on one thing at a time, with drawing, it's like I'm seeing so many areas I need to improve on that I don't know what to focus on exactly. The other day Iwas studying arm and back muscles, then a pose folded me and I realised I need to go back to gesture. Also I'm learning how to draw detailed hair. That is going well too
Great tips! When you don't understand or draw a certain pose that isn't working you should always go back and study the specific part you don't get. It's not gonna happen overnight, Be patient
EXACTLY! and thank youu :)
thanks fam i feel like this really is gonna help me i can feel it in my veins
Structure is definitely something Ive been struggling with and I want to thank you for this, I feel like this will reaaally help. Anyway Imma implement this all and keep pushing myself to become a concept artist one day, tyty❤️
Besides the really helpful tips, i always leave your vids with a lot of motivation and just the need to draw and improve
YESSIR! thank you so much!
The best man who gives the best advice
this is the best possible advice i have ever seen. thank you very much :)
Loving the stream of videos lately! I probably watch this channel more than Whyt manga, Jazza or any of the other big name artists here on youtube. Some of that may be because it's more manga focused, and the fact that the art you put up is just so pleasant to look at. Really awesome stuff, man. ^^
HAHA im so glad to hear that! thank you so muchhh :)
I plan on becoming an animator, but I'm not good at drawing people. Your videos have very useful tips, and after watching your videos I can see that I am slowly improving. Thank you and please keep posting amazing videos like this!😁
where can i draw like him?
Another banger. Thanks dd mark this is really going to help me improve.
no problem! glad my video helps at all!
This is pretty much how I've been practicing. It's made me wonder how effective or good it is for my art knowledge, but there's no right or wrong in art regardless. Great video!
Thank you ddmark this is literally the best advice ive been giving since i started to learn how to draw😱 can you believe most peopke told me to draw geometric forms or like "just draw anything" Thank you for realsies☺️ You re the best😉
thank you dd mark
I started doing the same thing to get better at drawing a while ago and I've been getting better non stop. it is truly the best way to improve.🔥
I KNOW RIGHT!! ITS LITERALLY HACKING DRAWING
Thank s youv make me understand more about manga,.and how to forward my story.
The bit about using paper and pencil to practice instead of going digital is so true and useful
yupp!!
I will try to use this method. I hope that works for my. Thanks Mark gg
Ur art is amazing and I actually want to see more of your process in your sketch book
thank youuuu!!!!!! and for sure, i think that'll be fun to do!
thank you this helped me understand how to do them, as well
I’m going to apply your method and see how it works for me. Thanks D!
you're welcome!
I needed this, preciate it!
Bro I'm going on an art training arc. Thanks for this helpful video!
Your officially one of my faveourite manga artists!
YOOO thank you so muchhhhhh!!!! im so happy to hear that!!!
Thanks for the tips man here to the day that I can draw my first Dujins 🍸
Bro ur artstyle looks beautiful 👌
Love you dd love your art more
Ive been following your insta for awhile and now I found you got a RUclips?!!! Finna run up these views and get better at drawing 😼
Markk: gags when talking about math
Me who likes math: sweats violently
HAHAHAHAHA you built different yo! but i guess to each their own. i hate math, but then again i know people who hate art so yea lol
Been waiting for a video like this
YESSIR!
Great video dd markk thanks for the tips ✌
thank you and its my pleasure :)
Thank you, this will truly be useful 😁
Glad to hear that!
Uow. Thanos fr the tips. I'll use It right now!! 🤩
no problem :)
THE BEST VIDEO I EVER FOUND
Nice way to practice I need add that in my practice too
You should! i recommend it!
This is so helpful. No one talks about tactical practicing
thank you! ans "tactical practicing" is that what its called? that actually sounds cool
i love your vids bro keep up the great work
Thanks, will do! glad you like em :)
Thank you, your video is helpful as always.
you're welcome! im glad to hear it
That is how I am doing it. It may be sloppy and slow. But I am up for it. Just keep practicing. I am not good at anatomy right now. Also am still trying to get better as time progress. But still going strong.
Amazing work like always 👌🏾👌🏾
thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu sm
As an artist myself learning how to draw manga as a 12 yo is hard and I haven’t gotten out the same art level so this helps a lot man I will try my very best to get the BEST MANGAKA ARTIST EVER!!!
You go kid, you got this, never give up🎉🎉🎉
I will admit, the references thing isn't a bad idea. I almost always buy art books as references to improve my style and always use google images to find a good reference. I always have this thought in my head. "It is never enough". What I make will probably look good to someone else but to me, I think I can do much better. I need to to improve and this isn't bad advice. I'm never stopping until I'm better and I can be satisfied with my style. And even then, I'll probably be pushing to get better still. Damn, I sound like a Shonen protagonist.
Honestly dude your video is a lot more helpful than the last one but at last my brain capacity just won't let me do what I want to do every time I try to focus and just think of what I want to draw I stress over it so easily until when I start over the 5th time it's still not enough for me
Bro thank you
I would love to see you do a video on how to design breathe taking backgrounds.
ahha i love how you specifiedd "breath taking"! and for sure ill make a video like that when i myself have gotten better at backgrounds. i suck at em rn and im currently working on it
Thanks man! I wish I learn this back in art school, the drilling part is underrated and it's vital! I'm trying to improve my skills and I didn't thought about the traditional for the not mistake policy, I'm studying digitally at the moment forcing myself to never use ctrl z, do you think it could work fine for building confidence in a similar way? surely bringing a sketchbook with me has to become my basic rule. Sending you a big hug
this one is really useful
ay bruh your manga SLAPS
the lord has spoken!
Thanks bro this was super helpful 🔥🔥
No problem! glad it helped!
Damn Boii this video was pretty good, made me motivated
Thank you! im glad it could make you fell that way :)
TYSM
Do you have any recommendation on how long to practice this method daily/weekly? I figure as often as possible would be ideal, but I was wondering how long you would generally take to practice in comparison to focusing on an complete art piece?
Yes great
Hey I’m a new subscriber but you’ve given me hope that I can learn how to draw again. Every other person I’ve talked to has never given me a solid place to start learning. I don’t even know the basics. So what would you suggest I do?
I love your videos and its inspired me to start drawing myself, but I don’t really know where to begin, do you think you could make a video of covering the fundamentals or how to start drawing manga?
Perspective is the best place to start imo. The human body is just a bunch of organic shapes. If you know basic shapes from different angles and perspectives, then the body will be a whole lot easier to understand. Manga is a lot more specific than just getting good at drawing. You're talking about art-style, panel/page flow, inking, etc. It gets pretty complex, but start with perspective and basic shapes and then study anatomy your favorite artists after to develop a style of your own. Hopefully that helped!
you should search for draw a box it is free and you learn basics with them you can draw anything
Don’t want to sound annoying but for me I found studying how western comic book artists use anatomy and crosshatching really helpful for drawing in the manga style, I think if your goal is to practice drawing as a whole and not just manga style you’ll improve way faster, I recommend proko, David finch and Ryan Benjamin, it might seem boring at first but it’ll really pay off
So I think you want to approach learning how to draw in a character drawing perspective. That's the same way I approached drawing when I was starting out. I approached it this way: basic forms and perspective, gesture and construction simultaneously, anatomy, and painting (basically light, shadow, color, tone etc.).
I suggest that you go into art subreddits and check out their recommended resources and process with learning.
okay so i'll make a fundamentals video in the future but i suggest googling the fundamentals, making a list of them and taking time to dedicate to each of them. for example if you chose to study perspective, for a whole week, you might watch alot of tutorials on it and then spend the whole week practicing what you saw in the tutorials on your own till you understand it. then you would do that for another fundamental for another week and so on. hope that helps!
For those curious the math he shows at 5:15 is in regards to sequence and series, a calculus 3 topic. Essentially at least from my understanding it is a method in which to quote "find area under a curve" or string of data using and infinite number of simplified shapes. Don't let that fool you though. It was because of sequence and series that my grade went from a B+ to D- real fast. It's not to complicated but when you have calc 3 and phy 2 in the same semester in the middle of covid ahit hits the fan.
Oh and the work fing sucks imagine if you will being given an hour to complete 3 problems and running out of time
Hey I’m kinda doing this but with comics, I do lil comics. every time I can’t draw something a learn about it for a day or 2 it’s 5 pages per comic
Man you keep it real, th
thank youuuuuu :)
Caught me during a practice session once again. Adding this to my memory bank 🧠🏦
YESSIRRRRRRR love to hear you grindin!
@@ddmarkk I finally found what anatomy construction I'm comfortable with too. I'll be posting an OC turnaround soon 🙏🏾
That was cool
Thanks
Hey DDmark! To let you know that I started my manga making journey because of you (finished my second page) I'm currently focusing on finishing it rather than making it perfect. Wish me luck!
Goodluck
@@jerobu.9392 thanks! :D
Good luck buddy! I’m sure you will do great and succeed in your manga making journey! Keep up the grind 🔥🔥🔥
@@CATSUOIEATSCATTOES thanks! I had this idea for a manga for the longest time. I'm 35 right now and it's never to late to create.
@@hanifmazuki Love the mindset! Anyone can be creative no matter what age, I know that you’ll create an astonishing manga. Don’t give up, I believe that your manga will be a hit one day! :)
Thanks you DD Mark ✨you have helped me with founding own my art but can you please make a video that can help us about drawing a background please 🤧💔
you're so welcome! I'm so happy to hear that, and ill make a video for backgrounds as soon as i figure them out myself lol
Man's about to hit 5k🔥
YESSIRRRRR!!!! 5K BABY
Do a sketchbook tour pls
Is a mechanical pencil alright?
Yes!!!! 🙏
Please could you make a video on buildings
ima say this rq
bro i never understood how to actually get better at drawing, but this video gave me a very good understanding of what to do and where to look
Practicing anatomy right now, your vids help so much shagdhdsafhadshdashashfs
Perfect
thank youuuuuuu :)
ive been trying to draw like my favorite magaka tatsuki fujimoto. is it okay if i just look up a panel and keep trying to draw it till i get good at it? how do i draw like someone i look up to?
Can you make a tutorial on perspective, pls
i myself am still learning perspective, so when i get a good grasp of it, i'll make a video for it
i love mathematics and the platonic quality of it.
i love god of high school and that tai chi anime
hi from which series are the fight animations in video ?
when i sketch i like to do it with a pen, that way i cant erase anything
if i do it with a pencil the sketch looks like the finished drawing, since i tent to erase every imperfection

When and how to shade with plain black like in various mangas we're accustomed to ?
its something that comes from understanding 1. forms of various objects and the human body, 2. light, and how it hits/falls on characters and objects, and 3. studying from and copying the manga artists that do it well (like boichi, yusuke murata, and naoya matsumoto)
3:25 for that I just draw with a pen, it forces me not to exaggerate with the sketch and concentrate on the most important.
