I really appreciate the effort put into this video, especially for this cult classic show that deserved more than the hand it was dealt. The one unfortunate caveat in it is that the Ping family is Korean, not from China. This was a little confusing to most due to Ping though its pronunciation comes from the older romanization of Bing (빙), and Lee's mom had Shihoo Kim as her original name before immigrating.
I'm one of the creator of show. Dbf. Regarding the tazelwurm. I was looking for an engimatic school mascot. When I came across the taz. Everyone in the production meeting really liked the idea cause it was a creature no one had used in media really. Plus because it was an unknown creature by the masses. We could create are own lore about it.
Something I wish we got to see was the serpent’s name reveal. One of the co creators replied to a question on Twitter that his name was “Li” and that Sue and Alfred named their new son “Lee” in honour of their baby who the council took away from them. I would be so interesting to see the characters react to that big reveal and how the dynamic between the ping brothers would carry on if the series was able to continue
The thing i liked about this show had that half life 2 city 17 tint and grittyness it worked so well, although those hazmat guys would not be shocked if the combine soldiers where inspired to make these guys
I don't think its ever stated in the show that Victoria's brain washing is limited by what people were willing to do. The reason they considered it a failure was that Lee was able to stop it.
I just recently finished the series and I believe there is one mystery you didnt mention - The eminence said to Kimmie’s mom that the mark is passed down the bloodline, thats why it was shown Lee’s dad had, but Kimmie didn’t have it, the entire series she wears a sleeveless shirt so you can see her arms and they don’t have a the mark
I just rewatched Detentionaire, I loved the show growing up. I saw that it was on Amazon so I watched what I could then I realized that it was on RUclips so I finished it there. I’m so happy to see a video like this about it, and introducing this great show to other people.
I loved it as a kid. I rewatched the final season which was the only one on prime at the time it rereleased. It's more like a best first timers mystery since all of the teen drama got in the way and it's a kid's cartoon.

I believe that the fifth season is likely end the series that the creators wanted, maybe it could be longer if something new was added if it was major popular.

There are questions that are unsolved in that story as well, and I kinda think elements of the show can be included as a mystery box story..That could be just me though. I just finished watching the whole show today and i am actually so heartbroken by then ending. I still have SO MANY questions fam! A lot of which you said in the video. I wanna know The Serpents true name and i wanna know if they were gonna go back for him after they all celebrated the win they got against Kimmy's mum. I wanna know what that guy was doing with all the other lizard people and what his intentions were and how he managed to convince them to be on his side! I wanna know if Lee and Tina properly ended up together (I am a #Leena shipper). So many questions and not enough time to answer them, all cos it wasn't doing too well in the states even though it's a Canadian show. Like the execs were all like "Nah it's not doing good enough let's cancel it even though we're not the ones making it." what do you mean fam? I wish we could get another season or two of the show just to get the rest of the answers that we so desperately crave to put all the pieces together and have a full story from start to finish and all that jazz. We need to make noise! We NEED to let the higher up people know that we want the last season or two to be done so we can finally finish the story! I really hope all the voice actors are still down to voice the characters after so long! Just please give us back Detentionaire i actually BEG of you higher ups PLEASE!!! I need it in my life! TL:DR I love Detentionaire so much and need it to be finished once and for all.

Finnwich knew Lee's grandfather he would have known Lees family. So this may have been a meeting to brainstorm for Lee's father and finnwich to take down the pyramid. Lee father going in as a inside man and all that. But right about lees dad having so much left unclear. If only we got a more seasons haha would be hard to pick up from where it left off as most of the players are no longer in play
To your first point, I’m pretty sure Biffy and Lee both couldn’t be brainwashed because they’re both strong-willed, independent thinkers. Peer pressure and cliques is a big motif of the show, and Lee and Biffy refusing to conform to any one group or stereotype shows that they can’t be swayed easily. To the second, Finnwich probably came to Lee’s birthday for a combination of reasons. I think the primary reason was just to see and meet Lee, because he knew Lee was special even back then. For other secondary reasons, like planning with Lee’s dad, it’s hard to speculate and I imagine future seasons would’ve given more clarity.

I saw your vid and forced myself not to watch it (difficulty 💯 bc I love your vids) and instead binge watched the entire series, overall my only complaints were the ending and the look of the show, sorry to say it but I find the kids/teen animated highschool style kinda cringey at times like it’s an adult trying to be hip and cool with the teens.
