Saving these recommendations, after watching A Sign Of Affection and reading the manga I want more of this 😂 never thought I would like this genre but this anime had me giggling and kicking my feet like a little girl and it was the best
A Sign of Affection is seriously a treasure! I haven't watched the anime yet as it isn't available on any services I have :'(! I know it's so addictive, I want more. It's quite drama free so I wouldn't mind a bit of drama popping up in future vols 😅
The anime is incredible, you can really feel how much love the creators put into making it! You are in for a treat once you can watch it! I actually really like that it’s drama free, my life is stressful enough haha, this amine was really calming and cozy which is exactly what I needed, probably that is why I got so unexpectedly obsessed with it. I am relatively new to anime and watched mostly action prior, now add me to the shoujo fandom 😅 the heart wants what it wants

I love these mangas. "In the Clear Moonlit Dusk" -- honestly, I don't know how I feel about that one yet. I love the art style, it's beautiful. Something about how the main guy acts doesn't sit well with me. I feel that he pressures her to be physical a lot. Also, the part where he was hanging out with a female friend alone and she hangs out with her coworker alone...they both get jealous of each other, of course. not sure why neither of them discussed whether each of them was okay with that. I personally do not have male friends, just acquaintances. my husband personally doesn't have female friends, just acquaintances. We never had to discuss this, so that may be why I can't relate to this situation. but I get the feeling that he displays more jealousy than her even tho he does things that warrant jealousy from her as well. But it is high school. so I know teenagers tend to hang out and be super friendly to the opposite sex even if they are in a relationship, so not really surprised. I have to see more chapters for me to decide where I would tier it.

How it ended before the hiatus, I realise how much he likes and appreciates her, I think his behaviour is more down to the fact his not used to liking someone this much (tho that doesn't excuse it!). I don't want to spoil anything if you aren't caught up, but I recon in the next vol (when the author is back from hiatus), I think they will discuss this sort of thing more (about jealousy etc). The relationship is still pretty fresh so a lot of bumps down the road I recon. I did love Takiguchi and her coworker together I thought they made a cute pair! I always fall for the secondary male haha

I feel like I am the only one who doesn’t really like “Loving Yamada at level 999”? Boy had the personality of a paper sheet, i felt like the manga was mostly about the female lead and her discovering passion for video games, and he was just a side character, everything about him was related to female lead plot line idk
I can completely see where you are coming from! But I didn’t mind that it mostly focused on the female lead & her life. Yamada goes through some character development & surprises us in random chapters. He gives us little but when he does give ITS GREAT! but I’ll agree Akane is the main bee with life, friends, game, family storylines going on! But I loveeee that, as I love her too😍 I’m a sucker for a moody/emotionless ml and bubbly, sunshine, clumsy fl🫣

There relationship went from 0-100 so quick I was confused the entire 1st volume. But I continued and it has grown on me lol. The moment u put maid sama in the Meh tier u absolutely lost me. Not in terms of credibility but just that personal preference wise I know I won’t feel the same with many of these series.
I just couldn’t get into it & I tried… I think I managed to get through half of vol 4 and then I’ve put it on pause💔. Its not bad tho, just not great haha. I think it’s because I read Pink to Habanero first (which is v similar premise just male lead works at a cafe). If you have any recommendations for other mangas you love, let me know as I’m always looking for new ones to try (obvs not Maid Sama 😅)!
Love me love me not is my favourite shoujo manga but I guess people have different tastes. I personally prefer the side couple to the main one so maybe hats what kept me going till the end. Honestly it was great 👍
I really enjoyed it at the beginning, but then it got too samey (& I think I just read it a little late in life, if I read it when I was younger I think I would have 100% completed it!). Yesss I wish they developed their story earlier on. I was hella routing for them, & was frustrated when her ex was brought back into the picture (this was when I stopped reading). They did end up together right?🥺
Actually due to criticism and censorship of shojo both yaoi and josei are subcategories of the shojo. Since they wanted to separate the more smutty types of shojo from keeping it seen as "low brow manga" (really Japan I can name off five shounen where the female's clothes fly off her every other episode but shojo is low brow for featuring a bit of smut 🙄) they made the category of josei for mature audiences also known as ol or office lady manga as they aged up the female leads

Back in the 70s shojo was heavily censored so shojo artist started making boy x boy romance for girls bara is gay romance writin by men for men. It started when a shojo artist in the 70s had her comic cancelled due to graphic displays of intimacy so she made a bl manga with almost the same story. And back in the 90s when shojo started featuring more smut and darker themes it got criticized for being almost soft porn so they split it into shojo for girl and josei for more older females so shojo would thrive without the stigma. Been collecting information as a school near me has a manga 101 class I want to apply for the teaching position of so I want to be able to categorize the different types and yeah I was surprised too I knew yaoi being made by shojo artist but not josei until i found a manga and its genre site explaining the history of each one and why it's like the way it is. They even have a staple example of each category which is helpful while writing scripts

@Ashleighsbooklist okay so Kyoko okazaki is a really popular josei mangaka! I own all her stuff in English but can only recommend River's Edge so far! It came out physically last year and it's really dark tbh but also so so good so I can recommend that one!!

I love it, and I think it's quite realistic in the sense how boys and girls are at school. The character development is topnotch, HOWEVER the ML is red flagish and pushy at times (which is discussed in the manga). But yeah maybe skip that one haha
omg don't even get me started lmao but I'll give some romance recommends 1. A side character's love story- about 2 introverts falling in love and coming out of their shell. We also get both the female and male pov. 2. Chihayafuru - romance/sports and its a childhood friends to lovers trope 3. insomniacs after school - about 2 high schoolers suffering from insomnia and getting to know each other as they form an astronomy club 4. My daily report of my witch sempai- about 2 coworkers falling in love (very short, only 2 volumes) hope you find at least one you enjoy ❤

I'm not sure if you read manga online, but it's available on the internet if you type in the name of the manga and then read online. But I know some people aren't comfortable with that as it doesn't directly support the artist and author. I will keep a look out, and if I ever see 'Futari de Koi wo suru Riyuu' in an english translated physical copy or added to a legit manga subscription site, I will comment and link it here for you. It's honestly one of my favourites so I hope you manage to read it ❤

Even they fail to make the ML lovable imo, HE NEEDS MORE GROVEL AND WHY HE TAKES WAY TOO LONG TO EVER REALIZE HIS FEELINGS???!!!! The ML for the second pair is slightly better but still a jerk too. Ao haru ride also irritated me the same way for the frustrating FL and the pathetic lame ML. Yeah maybe her works doesn't suit my taste. I didn’t realise the author also wrote Love me Love Me Not!! I dropped that manga as I felt the same, I did not like the ML and the characters bored me 😅. Rio took forever to tell Yuna about her feelings and then was so over it when they finally got together! I have to agree that in Ao Hara, the FL does get on my nerves. I’ve never heard of bokura no kiseki, but I’ve just looked it up and it sounds so good. I’ve added to my ‘plan to read’ list. I’m currently about half way through You Got Me, Sempai and I still don’t know what to make of it lol!! There relationship went from 0-100 so quick I was confused the entire 1st volume. But I continued and it has grown on me lol.
I saw someone talk about Short cake cake on TikTok literally yesterday and added it to my tbr haha!
The moment u put maid sama in the Meh tier u absolutely lost me. Not in terms of credibility but just that personal preference wise I know I won’t feel the same with many of these series.
I just couldn’t get into it & I tried… I think I managed to get through half of vol 4 and then I’ve put it on pause💔. Its not bad tho, just not great haha. I think it’s because I read Pink to Habanero first (which is v similar premise just male lead works at a cafe).

Love me love me not is my favourite shoujo manga but I guess people have different tastes. I personally prefer the side couple to the main one so maybe hats what kept me going till the end. Honestly it was great 👍
I really enjoyed it at the beginning, but then it got too samey (& I think I just read it a little late in life, if I read it when I was younger I think I would have 100% completed it!).
Yesss I wish they developed their story earlier on. I was hella routing for them, & was frustrated when her ex was brought back into the picture (this was when I stopped reading). They did end up together right?🥺
Actually due to criticism and censorship of shojo both yaoi and josei are subcategories of the shojo. Since they wanted to separate the more smutty types of shojo from keeping it seen as "low brow manga" (really Japan I can name off five shounen where the female's clothes fly off her every other episode but shojo is low brow for featuring a bit of smut 🙄) they made the category of josei for mature audiences also known as ol or office lady manga as they aged up the female leads

@@Ashleighsbooklist no the reason yaoi became a subcategory was the same reason josei is also one. Back in the 70s shojo was heavily censored so shojo artist started making boy x boy romance for girls bara is gay romance writin by men for men. It started when a shojo artist in the 70s had her comic cancelled due to graphic displays of intimacy so she made a bl manga with almost the same story. And back in the 90s when shojo started featuring more smut and darker themes it got criticized for being almost soft porn so they split it into shojo for girl and josei for more older females so shojo would thrive without the stigma. Been collecting information as a school near me has a manga 101 class I want to apply for the teaching position of so I want to be able to categorize the different types and yeah I was surprised too I knew yaoi being made by shojo artist but not josei until i found a manga and its genre site explaining the history of each one and why it's like the way it is. They even have a staple example of each category which is helpful while writing scripts

@Ashleighsbooklist okay so Kyoko okazaki is a really popular josei mangaka! I own all her stuff in English but can only recommend River's Edge so far! It came out physically last year and it's really dark tbh but also so so good so I can recommend that one!!

I love it, and I think it's quite realistic in the sense how boys and girls are at school. The character development is topnotch, HOWEVER the ML is red flagish and pushy at times (which is discussed in the manga). But yeah maybe skip that one haha

3. insomniacs after school - about 2 high schoolers suffering from insomnia and getting to know each other as they form an astronomy club
4. My daily report of my witch sempai- about 2 coworkers falling in love (very short, only 2 volumes) hope you find at least one you enjoy ❤

I think you're referring to - 'The reason why two people fall in love ~ Futari de Koi wo suru Riyuu'. I'm not sure if you read manga online, but it's available on the internet if you type in the name of the manga and then read online. But I know some people aren't comfortable with that as it doesn't directly support the artist and author.
I will keep a look out, and if I ever see 'Futari de Koi wo suru Riyuu' in an english translated physical copy or added to a legit manga subscription site, I will comment and link it here for you. It's honestly one of my favourites so I hope you manage to read it ❤

I don't believe you put ao haru ride so high...... Personal preference maybe but objectively imo that series is painful. The latter half in manga I mean, my favorite one is the first half in manga that the anime covered. Regardless it's not good series imo. Oh anyway what's your opinion on tonari no kaibutsu-kun? And ore monogatari as well.

@@Ashleighsbooklist reading your comment I realized maybe I just got beef with the author. I mean the premise of love me love me intrigued me but the execution are bs. Even they fail to make the ML lovable imo, HE NEEDS MORE GROVEL AND WHY HE TAKES WAY TOO LONG TO EVER REALIZE HIS FEELINGS???!!!! The ML for the second pair is slightly better but still a jerk too. I only like the second FL the best, the main FL is way too dum- innocent it's so frustrating how she keeps falling for ML who clearly in love with someone else and even chasing right after getting rejected by him instead of just focusing on moving on. Ao haru ride also irritated me the same way for the frustrating FL and the pathetic lame ML. Yeah maybe her works doesn't suit my taste.
I only watched the anime of both of tonari no kaibutsu-kun and ore monogatari. They are my childhood anime, I just wondering for your opinion in case someday I would read the manga but I'm worried my nostalgia bias clouded the actual objective judgement😅 oh do you read bokura no kiseki as well? I read it currently and I love how unique it is compared to usual romance focused shojo manga.
I didn’t realise the author also wrote Love me Love Me Not!! I dropped that manga as I felt the same, I did not like the ML and the characters bored me 😅. Rio took forever to tell Yuna about her feelings and then was so over it when they finally got together!
