Oh the flower one is based on a real dying process -- but in that, the shirt is usually soaked all the way through in a copper pot first, then they'd place the flowers and roll up the shirt and leave it for awhile so the natural pigments in the flowers can seep through. It's called botanical bundle dyeing. :D
Came to look for this comment!
Instructions unclear
@@shrianshmakesartyou can search up botanical bundle dying then to get clearer instructions!
I genuinely was surprised that she hadn't heard of this
Omg, everyone needs someone in their life that will walk in on you doing something strange like smashing flowers into clothing with a mallet and just be like “ok, do your thing!”
Rae, that man is a keeper!
YES!! Such a good boy lol
@@zaraheart Good boy like hes a dog?
---
Odd
“Ok Rae, just do your thing” xD
Rae, the aluminum foil hack will work but you have to be touching the aluminum foil. I actually made a stylus out of a nib on a toothbrush with a bread twist tie when I was in a pinch once. You have to touch the aluminum foil so that the electrical current is carried from your finger to the pad.
That's what I thought of too! Thank you for pointing that out!
out of curiosity - in what scenario do you so desperately need a stylus that you used this?
@@kyhoney she was just testing different hacks from the internet. Nobody ever said they were useful hacks 🤣
@@micah06v8 emotinal damage
@@kyhoney If your stylus stops working but you need the stylus until the apple store opens again
Try soaking colored pencils it’s amazing
i have it is very cool
yup amazing
thanks for the subtitles in this video
Ok ty
Okay thanks ❤❤😊
Ok tbh, I did the flower thing one afternoon and it actually did work. I didn’t put anything over the flowers, and I mostly used the darkest ones I could find, but yeah. I mean ofc it didn’t look like an actual flower, it was more abstract, and also… it disappeared as soon as I washed it, but that was only to be expected lol. It would be a good way to occupy kids in the holidays tho
It stays better if you let it sit in the sun and “bake”
Also, they used flat flowers like pansies, which also have a lot of pigment.
This video did not disappoint, we are in tears with laughter! Artists everywhere felt your pain with that balloon cup! Honestly, our reaction to the cotton swab marker hack was WHY??? We have so many actual markers that are so nice to use and so affordable! We're not going to get on our soap box and preach about wasting spaghetti in a painting though, because there is documentary evidence of us doing art with pasta. Oh, and we're not proud of it, but there is now just a tiny chance a few of of us might be gluing stuff to our fingers now... FOR ART!!!
Your channel seems really cute!
5 minute crafts's q-tip marker hack was 100% fake. What they really did was hide real markers inside the rolled up wipes, cuz if they didn't the lines would look all messy and smudge everywhere like what happened with Rae.
Agree!
Hi blick! I’ve been seeing u everywhere on my fav artist RUclipsrs ❤
@@mysterionz Thanks for noticing!
Loved the video! But I must say, as a broken ass artist the foil hack does work! But you'd have to touch the foil while using it, also I add cotton for the tip and a bit of what, just to keep it humid to conduct electricity (there's some science behind). That's how I draw on my cellphone 😂
it depends on what kind of touchscreen device you use :) theres resistive and capacitive screens. Resistive screens will react to pressure, while capacitive screens will react to a current.
Apple devices are capacitive, so they'll only react to products that emit a specific current, hence why the foil trick wont work on them (the foil conducts a current, but its nothing the ipad can pick up)
"a bit of what"
I used to do the stylus one and it actually works u just wrap the foil around a q tip it's not the best but it really helped me when I couldn't afford a stylus
"the spaghetti is not as good as the broccoli" is not something i ever thought i would hear on an art video
the spaghetti one is bound to get any italian mad
The flower thing DOES work, but it really depends on the flowers/leaves you use. I remember doing this in school when we were learning how people in Ye Olden Times made dyes and stuff
Probably get a much better impression using a press though
When I was a child in late 1980's I learned from some kid's TV program that you can draw with flowers or other plants. But of course it recommended that an adult helps you choose the plants because some plants are very rare and should be protected and some can be poisonous. And a small child may not always understand which plants are OK to take so no stealing flowers from someone's flower bench.
I just used some wild plants from my neighbourhood. It was a fun art project but it was much easier to just use regular crayons. :)
I think the hack by taping the tape to the desk u didn't do correctly. They used DUCT tape and u use painters tape. Duct tape would have absolutely held in place
Instead of ripping paper I meant the paint or desk by damaging it
It's true but I still think the video is good.❤
Why are are you defending ridiculous art hacks, just be entertained
@@Jo-xn3yp huh? It's the TRUTH! Duct tape is wayyy more durable then painters tape
It wasn’t even duct tape
The anti-spill paint cup does work, you just have to cut the balloon farther up and make sure the hole is in the middle.
Haha that mental health joke was funny. Same. at 10:43
9:25 if you use actual duct tape it will hold steady to a wooden surface, in elementary school that’s how our art teacher would have the cups of water and over 5 years there I witnessed less than 5 spills
The diy stylus at 8:46 actually works but you have to touch the foil with your fingers in order for it to work
I used to do this all the time when I was a kid
It works because aluminum is very conductive
It reminds me of elementary school art projects. I remember dreading them since my teachers were so strict when we had to use paint.
That sounds awful 😢
And it was Tempra paint 😢
@@saveem4362 that’s even worse 😱
The water balloon/glass hack actually does work. Your brush hole was at the edge rather than the middle then tipped the glass to the side the hole was. Also probably needed a little less water. Not the greatest hack if you don't want to take the time to make sure it's right, but if you're extra clumsy, it's definitely a good idea.
Plus I think she used a cup with too wide an opening and it was plastic that won’t hold its shape. If she used a hard plastic cup with a smaller opening it prob would have worked better.
She didn’t use the kind of balloon in the video
@@velocityraptor9270Well tbh it’s pretty dangerous to use a glass cup for that hack anyway because the pressure of the balloon holding on the rim could cause the glass cup to break since that is where the glass is the weakest. She most likely should have used a hard plastic cup
She needed a glass cup
I think the Aluminium foil pen works, if your fingers are touching the foil. so take a larger piece to wrap the place where you grip as well.
Was just about to come to the comments to say this haha. The foil should work because of how touch screens work, our bodies have a tiny bit of electricity in em, and that's why fingers work, and why an apple pencil needs to be charged. So if you're touching the foil, it can conduct the electricity into the end and "should" work. It does depend on the brand and what your foil is actually made of tho
2:50 The Anti-Spill Paint Cup Hack
I think it may work if u had tried with a glass not plastic cup.
Your reaction to these hacks is hilarious 😂😂😂 but seriously when will 5-minute crafts be stopped?!
Idk lol BTW big fan of you and rae
The Digital Stylus hack does work, have to be touching the foil with your hand for it to work its something to do with the electrical currant in your hand and the foil being a conductor. also a better way is to some cotton attach it to a wooden doddle wrap the whole thing in foil nice and tight. Finally slightly dampen the cotton and your good to start digitally drawing, plus wont scratch your tablet/ipad ... Sorry for the brief science lesson lol
I know right and no need to say sorry it helps me so thank you 😊
Rae should combine all these bad art hacks to create an artwork at the end. It will be challenging but maybe a fun activity!
3:09 Because you use a huge plastic cup instead of a small glass
The Charmin wet wipes had me laughing 😂
Im always happy to see you here! 🙏 thanks so much for watching boo-boo
the diy stylus works with a chip bag wrapped around a pen! i used to do it as a kid lol
1:30 this art hack is also fake bc the colours that come out are literally markers or highlighter or whatever type of MARKER that is. Like that’s not a colour pencil
Let's get Rae to 2 Million before the new year!
I really love how honest you are and your art tips also made me a decent artist and the reviews you do also helps us a lot. We appreciate every bit of your hard work ❤
9:45 you should of tried if with Duct Tape. It is stronger than painter's tape.
yes rae! every time you post it feels so good because im a massive fan of you and you inspire me to do art
me too!
I love how honest you are when you test and review things! I love you btw💕
6:27 imagine going to art school with the Gucci/Vuitton's pencils in a broom... 😂💀
On the wet wipe, q-tip, marker hack, was that gel food coloring you were using? It looked like it. If so, I think the liquid might have worked better although I still don't know why anybody would want to do this. Water-based markers are very cheap. 😂
not as cheap as q-tips, wet wipes and food dye.
I've seen the flower printing thing work, actually! It's a whole process similar to dying fabric, but if you do it correctly it can make a pretty unique scarf or towel or whatever
I actually used to do the tinfoil pencil hack for a bit while I was waiting for a tablet! You need to hold onto the foil and lick the part you want to draw with for it to work ^^
As a digital artist you scare me
@@risktheanimator6592 I only did it for a few days before I gave up bc it was hard to use on my phone lol
Imagine the scratches on your screen
@@William_Nowin I actually never got any, I didn't press hard enough to do that. And I use screen protectors for everything
„The spaghetti is breaking all over my canvas“ truly a sentence I didn‘t expect to hear in my life lmao
The tin foil actually does work! You just have to hold it straight up and down and make sure your hand is relatively close to the foil! :)
I know that this is really late but I tried it but it ended up damaging my screen
Using a broom is silly, but there used to be pencil holders that looked basically like plastic hedgehogs - and they worked.
The digital art one actually works if you use a cotton swab, put the tiniest amount of water on the tip and instead of completely involving the tip with the foil you wrap it around the tip so that it barely touches the screen. The combo foil + water creates a tiny eletric potential that reacts on more sensitive screens and I actually did a drawing that way once. It's far from perfect and you don't get much of a precision buuuut if you do it the right way it will work
Grapes and egg whites work too
@@keepyourshoesathedoor dude what
@@keepyourshoesathedoor No.
Rae that's too weird I didn't see your video from two weeks ago and just thought.. huh it's been a little bit I should check the channel. You upload the second I open it. 😅 Thanks for another upload.
I’ve done the balloon glass one with small children, you need a sturdier plastic cup, and also a smaller rim cup. It does work and it works well with children who like to knock things over all the time.
The flower trick does work, but you have to have a solid surface like a wood plank under it and you have to really go ham on it and hit it as hard as you can until you feel like you’ve mashed the flowers and leaves into liquid form…..then it works, it’s a cool crafty project for kiddos.
for the hack to prevent water spilling, it worked in the video because they put less water so when it tilted, it wasn't the same level as the whole through the balloon.
“The spaghetti is breaking on my painting!” Rae-2022
I think the flower hack would work better with something other than a carnation. Carnations are often colored by putting them in water colored with food coloring. I would think that the natural coloring on a flower would dye better. The aluminum foil hack will work if you are touching it...because the screen detects an electrical charge, and your hand will put out that charge, and be transferred via the aluminum foil. I don't recommend.
You can buy anti-spill paint cups at any school/daycare supply store! They're also available at many department stores and art supplies store. It's harder to find them sold individually than as a set, but they're still not super expensive. And if you absolutely can't find them in your area, you can superglue an appropriately-sized funnel to a cup.
Yay Rae! Miss ur videos!
Hey Rae. Just a note on the flower on to tshirt hack…. It will work on paper though. I’ve done it many times. The flowers transfer but with a different colour and it’s soooo pretty. But you really have to hit it hard!!!!
"I don't have a single cup, glass, jar or tray, but I do have this new, clean broom head to store my pencils" ... said no one ever.
Those people must have some weird lives if they consider this a viable "life hack".
3:39, the hole of the balloon was in the middle of the cup, you put it to the side, check the original video....
yeah and she dropped it on the side of the tiny edge
Love ur vids rae got here at like 10 am eastern
I'm not even an artist. I hate drawing and painting, but for whatever reason, I always binge watch Rae's videos, old or new.
Rae for the foil pencil stylus hack I tried it but altered it. Like take a pencil wrap it with foil and get a q-tip and and slightly wet it and insert it to the foil. It works as a stylus.
3:25 i tried the cupo one and It worked soooo...
You are such a wonderful person. I've watched you for years now in every mood possible... If I'm crying and need something to calm me down I'll normally watch one of your videos and before I know it I'm laughing instead. Thank you for being such an amazing person
Okay , totally unrelated but ur Christmas tree looks so awesome
And the hacks- I never knew these even existed 💀😀
1:12 YASSSSSSS
For the tape roll cup holder, you do not want to use painter's tap because it is low-tac. If you use a roll of high strength permanent tape (like duct tape), it should work no problem. You would have to worry about the tape tearing if it is a tearable tape, so you would probably need to reinforce the tape in those cases.
And on the aluminum one for the ipad, not that I recommend EVER doing this 😂😭 but if it has any chance of working, your finger would have to touch the aluminum while you're drawing.
The broccoli hack seems fun for kids. My mom used to talk to me about eating my trees when we had broccoli, I always thought of them as little trees that could break off and be littler and lottler
The broom hack makes a lot of sense tho, the bristles are hard and sturdy so they could easily hold pencils that pretty much weighs nothing 😅
4:01 minutes when they make the home made markers I think that they put Colored pencils on the side that they actually put on the paper
*markers
1. Not the Broccoliiii!
2. Could've used the flowers for potpurri or pressing them for bookmarks.
3. The diy pencil for the ipad, I think Jazza did test that one and it worked but I think there was something more to it than just foil (?) I'm not sure, I'm pulling out a vague memory.
4.The phonecase, let's pretend there was no issue with clogged holes and such, wouldn't the drued paint become sticky as soon as the phone gets warm ?
5. You look so good Rae! Love the makeup and the colored hairstripe!
6. Thank you for always trying these things for us!
Rae is so entertaining and funny. Keep up the good work!❤❤❤
"we're gonna start off strong"
also her: i know this one is fake
she's a mood istg😭
It's been a weird year with weird hacks is what I can conclude.
I really wish you had tried the balloon hack with a glass cup, or even a normal reusable plastic one. Honestly I think it might have worked a bit better.
I also think the aluminum stylus might work if you are touching the metal but like just get a stylus lol
Rae is such an inspiration to me bc I do art and everytime I draw or something I watch her videos while I do it bc it Keeps me moving ❤
That stylus hack will actually work if you hold it from the aluminium foil and then draw, i tried making my own years ago and it ACTUALLY works 👍🏻😊
Using the broccoli 🥦 to paint tree thing would work for toddlers. We (daycare teachers) like to let kids use different materials to paint with.
And it probably works better if the broccoli wilts a bit so it bends to the paper surface. Sort of like sponge printing only with bumps instead of holes.
8:49 Actually I worse one I discovered in school was using the pencil lead, it works but kills me to see it, worked with some pencils and some computers.
R we gonna have series where Rae tests hacks every year 😃😃😃😃😂😂
6:21 witch craft
Yesss a new video from my fave artist
for the aluminium foil art hack u need to be holding the foil that way it can conduct electricity from ur hand , holding it from the back will never work unless u wrap all the pencil in aluminium
Hi Rae! I hope that you are having a good day today!!
It's probably my imagination but you look happy. And it makes you look extra beautiful.
11:08 I think I know why the hack failed they had foam in the size of the phone case and if you look close you see it
Great video thanks for doing this, it was fun to watch
Hey! I love you and your videos and im so thankful everytime you post! :)
Girl, I LOVE your vids so much! I got so much better at art just watching your videos and you're so fricking entertaining to watch! Slay girl 🤌 And those pencil colour nails slay (kinda lmao-)
There is a reason 5-Minute Crafts is known as 5-Minute Craps :D
HEYYY QUEEN ILYYYYYY❤❤❤
Hi Rae! Weird hacks, but kinda fun!
Also, you're looking so healthy and beautiful! Much love!
The balloon hack is very old I have seen it countless of times on 5 minute crafts
8:35 it is real
I tried it but it also broke my screen
Sad😭
hope you had a great thanksgiving, and heres to a merry xmas and a happy new year. keep on rocking.
The flower one truly works tho it’s called eco print, and it’s a real technic that I use quite often!
the spaghetti thing nearly made me fall backwards off of my bed in horror 😨😳 WHAT IS THIS CRIME AGAINST PASTA?
always a joy to see your videos
7:24 This might have been said already, but Rae was too gentle. This works, not like in 5minutes crafts, but it does work. You have to really wack it to release the coloring from the flowers. You probably need something heavier than a grocery back to keep the flowers from moving. I think even if she did the layers in reverse order so the shirt is on top it would hold better during the hard pounding. The kids have done this activity for Earth Day. This is a very old timey craft that does work; but again not like the original video implies.
The bag was so the hammer wasn't dirty, she said that
I always love seeing that a new video from you has dropped
Rae has one of those channels you never get bored of
12:16 Rae the Italians are going to kill you

@Clara Choi not Rae but happy birthday have a great day:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂
My you have a long happy life!!
happy birthday! :DD
Happy Birthday
Rae's videos are so entertaining. All please please please do an art haul 🥺🙏
The flower one works, but you have to use a very specific type of fabric and set-up in order to hammer the design on. It does come out quite pretty though if you do it right, but you can’t wash it or else it’ll come off. So it’s not great for clothing design.
*Italians are typing...*
At 6:46 i think the flowers had to be wet
It’s a crime to be here this early
Love the video :)✨
Its only been a minute and I'm already seeing so many comments the power of this fandom
