Rae, I'm a lurker, not a typer. One small thing...don't let your watercolor/acrylic paintbrushes dry with the brush side up. According to my watercolor teacher, the water will soak into the ferrule, weakening the glue. Over a period of time, it will ruin the brush. I ruined my favorite #6 round by storing the brush with the furry side up when it was wet. I also wanted to say that I love your product tests and your Tic-tok hack tests. They are really, really helpful! The green bug painting you did some time ago is first class.
I rather reglue than have to deal with messed up bristles. I could lay them flat, but there's not much room AND I'd probably forget anyway lol.
I’m not even reading this
I’m just doing it for some reason
@@Flo4life222 Then don’t lol
Huh I didn’t know it would mess up the glue. I guess that makes sense!
the whole point of the paint puck is to be able to hang your brushes upside down so that they drip into the tray in the bottom (that's what its used for, NOT to mix paints) instead of your table and dry safely instead of ruining the glue inside the ferrule - it also helps with preserving the original shape of the bristles. I've had mine for over a year now and I love it, but I also don't really use larger handled brushes. (also that thing on the bottom works exactly like physical makeup brush cleaners do) didn't get the idea from ticktock, got it from Frugalcrafter Lindsey Weirich here on youtube.
I didn't wanna be the one to say it 😅
I just made the same comment 😂
Y E S thank you
Yeah I was so confused 😅 I’ve owned one for years and never thought about putting any paint in the bottom but I guess if that works for you and you hang your brushes on the other side then cool 😅 I tell everyone about my paint puck though 😆 it’s worth every single penny
The way she used it was hilarious haha
For the tube squeezer, the two extra pieces it came with are to help you hold it closed. They slide over the notches on the sides of the device.
I've had my paint puck cup for a couple years and never thought to use it for my paints. But definitely hang your brush upside down instead. It works just fine that way too
FYI: watercolor ground also comes in black :)
and clear too!
@@peacockfeathers7409 oh man! I forgot about the clear
The clear is my fave
And there is a pearlescent version too 😍
I think Rae is one of the first people to ever put paint in it! It's a drip tray
Rae looks a lot happier and brighter somehow; i hope this means she's doing really well. This alone kept me enjoying the video all the way to the end. Take care of yourselves out there!
Yes I thought the same. Her skin is glowing!
Now that im uploading less and focusing on quantity over quality I’ve been happier with youtube…plus I’ve been slowly recovering from a family loss… as far as being brighter, I think it’s bc I got brighter lights 🤣
Thank you so such a kind comment and I hope you have a wonderful day
@@SuperRaedizzle I am sorry about your loss I LOVE YOUR VIDEOSSSSSS 🎉❤

Just so you know the tube squeezer is meant to push the paint forward with the paint cap *on*. It helps with waste and getting every drop. Using it on an open tube will cause waste.
She does say she's going to save the paint for future use
I think she probably already knew that (from common sense, lol) but didn't have any near empty
@@Drummerchef13 in a plastic bag, which there will still be a lot of waste.
@@louiseb6111 with the paint tube she used in the video, it was empty enough to do without wasting oil paint
i think she wanted to see if itll push the paint out even to the last drop.
Has RaeDizzle reviewed the paper made of stone? I would love to see a full review using the most common mediums.
OMG I would LOVE to see that
Tip-For the paint tube squeezer I recommend having some duct tape on hand incase your break the tube as parts of the ends can blister and pop and you can re seal the tube with the tape without the fear of paint drying out
Hey honey, sorry if someone else already commented about this but I just wanted to pass on a pro tip about the watercolor ground; if you take any regular gesso and add a couple of tablespoons of bicarbonate soda (depending on how rough you want your surface) you will get a fairly good stand in for watercolor ground. The cold press QOR is definitely my favorite, but I have had surprisingly good results with this homemade recipe as well.
I wonder what would happen if you spread the watercolor base stuff onto a silicone pad and peeled it up after you painted. Could you then maybe cover the finished product with lamination or something on one side and turn it into a sticker or something? So many possibilities with that stuff.
I work at an art supply store in Anchorage, Alaska, and it's always so funny to see the supplies that we take for granted show up on viral Tiktoks! I wonder what it would be like to just walk Rae around and talk about art stuff.. I'm always suprised at how surprised she is, but then I think, "What else don't people know about?!" I love you, Rae!
Which one? I've been missing home a lot lately
@@shilothorp8691 Blaines!
@sp1deyluvr I knew it. Ugh I miss Blaines so much. I used to get to go when I'd get good grades.
@@shilothorp8691 It's my favorite place in town for sure. If you visit again say hiiii!!!
Girl, I am not an artist, I don’t do anything artistic, but I’ve been watching you for years. And you are absolutely glowing lately! You are incredibly stunning and it’s been amazing watching you grow.
Someone at work asked to borrow a pen. They went into my art pen pouch and completely destroyed two of my microns. He gave me 20 dollars as an apology but oof....that man almost lost his life that day. Micron and Sakura have my heart and soul.
Why oh why would you let them borrow a pen in the first place...I always have my awesome pens protected and safe from other people...and have cheapo decoy pens for them instead..haha.
@@technoraptor7778 we were slammed and I thought he meant a work pen. I was so busy that I forgot my art pen pouch was out because I had been sketching during the slow period.
He just said "hey can I borrow a pen", and since I wad busy making a ton of drinks I wss just like "Yeah bb go for it."
Kinda my fault >_
3:46
I use the watercolor ground on cheap canvases and I sand it with a fine sandpaper to give it more smooth appearance.
Micron and Staedler are the GOAT for Fine Lining.
The paint pot could do some alterations. First it cannot hold many sizes of brushes including flat handles and bigger handles. Also should be twin bowls. One for fresh and dirty water. The only thing I’d use the bottom part is for the water to drip of the paint brushes as they dry upside down. I just use an empty honey container tub, cut out a makeup cleaning mat with suction cups. Cut out a circle where a suction cup is and press into my container. I am interested in the paint remover thingy but my bank account says no so I’ll stick to my toothpaste scraper like you mentioned 😅
omg those gel pens are MESMERISING ✨
Yass
I simple love the first water jar/holder/cleaner being a “new” thing when Lindsay the frugal crafter and soooooooo many others myself included have been using these for years.
I've never seen this type of Paint Puck before, just the ones you drop into your regular jar or water cup. I especially like the place for hanging your brushes to dry. 😊
You always do such a great job with product tests! We've been big proponents of tube wringers for a long time- not just great for extracting every precious bit of color, they're also perfect for crimping the ends of paint tubes when you fill your own with custom mixtures, or handmade paint!
Huh... never knew Blick had a youtube channel or replied to people.
@@Zeldur Yep! We sure do!
What are the grey things, do you know?
@@Catalina-Winemixer We're pretty sure those are padded grips for the handles, for comfort. When you get toward the top of the tube sometimes it's necessary to squeeze with some force, so a little padding sure does help, especially for folks who have sore hands.
I just wanted to say that acrylic paints are obviously plastic so instead of letting all of the remaining paint go to the sink since it’s very contaminating , i would recommend cleaning the palette with a paper first and then cleaning it with water. Keep up the good work ❤
I think the pieces of grey plastic are like ‘feet’ for the paint tube squeezer 👍🏻👍🏻
Ooo those glitter gel pens are gorgeous... Hard to find really great gel pens in multiple colors... At least, for me, they usually suck.
Rae is the best at everything she does. She's immaculately talented. May God bless her and the people around her.
Definitely😁
Ikr she is SO good
I've always kept the bottom of my water container covered in one layer of glass marbles. Which cleans the brush when you rub the brush on them. And, it's #free
It's only free if you happen to have Glass marbles though.
So glad more people are discovering the joys of watercolor ground! It's definitely a game-changer for those of us who wanna use watercolors on everything. 😂
I haven't tried the Qor one, but will definitely be checking it out now.
What have you used watercolor ground on? Could I paint my furniture or walls?
Wow that water color surface thing is just wow
First of all, love the video. BUT!! Please do not rinse acrylics in the sink, this is just a PSA for everyone, it will clog up the pipes and it will get very expensive in the end. Instead, use paper tissues and dry off as much as you can, and throw it away, and then you can rinse the little that’s left. My art teachers taught me the importance of that.
Oops! Thanks for letting me know😭
My bad😭😭😭😭😭
Great advice ty
The duochrome gel pencil are the “gelly roll stardust”. I work on an art supplies store :)
Ik this is an old video, and Im hella late to the party... I was reaching into a cereal box when she played the clip so I didnt notice the actual pen, only the ink. Then when she showed the ink in the gel pens she got I instantly thought, oh you got Pentel Sparkle Pop or Pentel Dual Metallic knock offs. I have some of the Gelly Roll Stardust pens and they're nice but the black w/the red duo metallic Pentel Sparkle Pop just hits different. ❤ They are pricey AF tho, I see why there are Wish & Temu knock offs!!
After the ones from my favorite Art brands, Faber Castell, and Uni-Ball the Micron Fineliners are great pens. I use them for both drawings and writing checks or something else important. . .because I write so big and not neatly because of shaky hands. 😅
YES!! I love videos like this where you test out products!!! I would be interested to see your take on the non glare graphite pencils that don't leave a shine behind. I love these kinds of videos because you can actually see products being put to the test and if they are worth their bang for their buck!!!!
They are really good! Especially the Fabre castel ones
That paint bucket thing, the first item, would be great for cleaning makeup brushes! And then you could hang it the correct way to dry! I love it!
Can we appreciate the fact that she is making happy, you made my day Rae!
Absorbent ground for watercolor has been around for a very long time (I want to say maybe…15 years?) and believe me, my mind was every bit as blown as yours is. Love that stuff!
we have those tube squeezers at my work! (i work at a hair salon) and we use it to get every last bit of colour out of the tubes HAHAH
Is it just me or Rae's videos are always interesting and funny at the same time
Surely must be only you, on this whole wide world. No-one else ever thinks the same, no sir. 🙄
@@Boxofcare666 god who shat in your breakfast today 😭
I was just about to say the same
I agree her videos are to me too!
True
I have the paint puk and have been using everyday for a year. Hang the brushes hairs down and they will dry much better and not slay out.🎨❤️
"We're all out here using old mayonnaise jars-" Girl, I use a glass sauerkraut jar. 💅 I guess we can't all be special.
🤣🤣🤣
I've been using the bottom half of a Powerade bottle for years. :') I want to get fancy like everyone else, but it's hit that sentimental point. Lol

Love all the suggestions especially that first cup, so cool. btw there is a recipe for COLD PRESS GROUNDS.. it seems that is Regular Gesso mix 3 or 4 teaspoons of Bicarbonate soda ( baking stuff) and VOILAAAA... BTw I just foudn this out..
6:57 Now I'm not sure about anywhere else, but as an Indian, I think all of the Indian kids/teens of this generation including me have used this art supply at least once in their life and you can't convince me otherwise. We call it the glitter pens and I think most of us use the brand 'Flair'. It's pretty easily available in almost all the stationery shops in India and at least where I live. I'm pretty sure they're the same as the TikTok glitter gel pens and probably cheaper as well. To be honest, they look just as cool and am also quite sure they have different colours of glitter, but since I have none at my home right now (other than silver), I can't test them out.
Yeaaaah I have em too lol
Ohh it's absolutely flair sparkle pens....I recognize that ink so much 🤣🤣
I watched this and had to order those gel pens lol. They came today and they are sooooooo smooth and satisfying. Rekindled my love for coloring tonight. 😍 I used mine with a desk light and they flowed soooo nicely.
I see people obsessing over that paint puck thing all the time and I think I'd get one if I didn't already have an equivalent set-up. For brush drying, I have a broad with a bunch of silicon holes in it that's meant for makeup brushes, but I hang it in my art room and use it for my paint brushes. For the water holding and brush cleaning, simple dollar store plastic kitchen scrubby in the bottom of a mason jar.
I have a full aluminum tube squeezer too. Good for paint and toothpaste.
Faithpen baoke has an even smaller pen that’s also water and fade proof. They go from 0.1mm to 0.8mm. They’re my favourite markers because they dry instantly and are pretty cheap.
I freaking LOVE my paint puck (mine is lilac 💜). I use it to get the majority of paint off my brush then use a second water to cemetery clean off the paint
I'm actually amazed because some of these I literally discovered in the last two weeks. I have the exact same paint puck and I love it. I got it a few days ago. I also just discovered watercolor ground because I've been researching how to use watercolor on canvas!!! I also just bought my first tube squeezer (and I don't really go on tik tok so I didn't find them there. The syncronicities are just insane to me
The paint tube squeezer: different suggestion. I don't know the actual term for it, but in cosmetology we called them "color keys" and it's like a little key that you put over the end of the tube and turn it like a key. Super easy to use!
Oh, look up the Pentel Gel Hybrid ones. Omg, they are amazing.
And OMG! Make any surface a watercolor? OMG!
The only problem with the Micron .05 is that the dry out so fast. I only get a few uses out of it before it dries out. Other than that they are amazing.
huh. that is very odd, I've been using my 0.05 to write down tiny notes for over a year now and its still juicy. I bought mine from Blick though, I found that amazon often sells fakes or older supplies that are about to go bad anyways.
0.05 isn't even the smallest size they sell. Its 0.03
if you use fineliners all the time. i would recommend rOtring pens.
come in 2 smaller sizes than Microns (0.1 mm and 0.13 mm ... sizing all the way up to 1mm). they are better build quality and refillable. used by architects, drafts persons and designers for years. I still have my set of rOtrings from design school (now about 20 years old).
downside would be price. but upside they are just simply better build, dont dry out as quick (because they do not have a felt tip), and are refillable. and if you use them often enough they might be worth a look into.
@@ghoulchan7525 003 ≠ 0.03 it actually equals 0.15 mm
@@Forgefaerie HA, I'm not the only one! I use a larger, juicier jell ball for general notes, the 0.05 for numbers and symbology in example problems/pictures, and I've recently discovered the utter joy of ballpoint highlighters.
Oooh, I've been wondering if the watercolor ground actually works. That looks awesome! :D What a great video, I love how quick and effectively you showed each product.
The little gray things that came with the tube squeezer cushions for the handles or ends or whatever.
Before I went blind, I remembered having micron pens and I got myself a scent not too long ago since I starting getting back into art so that’s how I knew about your channel. Currently moving so I was able to pack the micron pens since they survived a flood, that’s the reason why we’re moving in the right place!
micron finally has a 003? i been using copics in that size for years for super small details. The tip is easy to bend or break though.
You can get a paint tube squeezer at your local hair supply store. We use them for our tubes of hair color. Much easier to use.
I found a rapidograph like that at a yard sale one time. Took me forever to learn how to clean it but omg the extra fine is sooooo nice for detail work
Always enjoy your videos!
The paint tube squeezer thing is a repurposed item! I have one for diorama work, and it's for corrugating pieces of metal for a tin roof look on a miniature scale.
I've never seen it used for squeezing paint tubes, but I'm so glad this tool has more than one use! ❣
Rae said she loved tiny things, not her using a tiny chair to hold up her phone 😂
How has Rae not come across watercolor ground before? It's definitely helpful lol
Micron pens are actually made by the brand Sakura Color based out of Japan.
When you used the cardboard box for the watercolor my mind went: "sustainability, yes!". Love your content! 💗
I'm scared to look up the price
Does the watercolour ground hold well on plastic? I’m specifically wondering if it will work on 3D printed objects.
it does but its kinda translucent so any darker surfaces will show through since the watercolor is also translucent. would recommend using it on white or light colored plastics
@@nebulonicc Thanks. That’s useful to know. The exact brand Rae used isn’t available this side of the pond, but there are others that are. I need to experiment.
I honestly am not a big fan of the micron pens. I got a set, almost all of them dried up in the first month. Meanwhile the faber castel fine liner pens I’ve had for years are still going strong. Maybe I just got a bad set, I don’t know. But it definitely soured my view on them lol.
Hey Rae not sure this might work for you
But if you know about the disposable sauce cups with the plastic lids, that you get with some takeout or something,
but you can store paint in those cups and close the lid which prevents them from drying out
You mean "that pen is Micron-scopic!" 😋
I use those pens all the time, love them so much. The thing to be mindful of, is to have a very light touch (more than usual), otherwise the tip can be pressed in or bend
The Masterson brush drier is a great find! And it makes the point that drawing the brush with a point on the bottom means that you won’t get rusted ferules!
From your RUclips it looks like you can hang the brushes either point side up or point sidedown is that true?
Really surprised by that Water colour paper maker ( I don't know what to call it) , it can make you paint anywhere! WOW
My favourite brushes are Leonard expression (50QB) series. They are so unique that no-one has ever seen a brush like that before. One looks like a whales tail and the round flat brush also looks like someone cut it with scissors it has a strand of hairs sticking out right in the middle.
Idk why one has found them yet especially tiktok they are pretty unknown they are amazing
I'm sobbing because I've been resisting going on tiktok forever and now I find there's art stuff on it. I don't want to have to manage another social media, but I don't wanna miss cool art supplies like this.

These highly reflective sparkle pens are also available in India manufactured by an Indian brand and I looooovvveee them

The tube squeezer was actually originally made for hair dye. It crimps it, keeps the dye together in the tube, and keeps air out of the tubes, preventing oxidation
I have two paint pucks now, never looked back, cant live without them!! I use one for washing the paint off brush and then the second one for making sure it's clean. The second jar barely gets dirty but I like to make sure!
Get one of the rollers from Sally’s for your paint. Hair colorists have been using them for decades, they work amazing and if you get the ones meant for hair dye tubes (literally the exact same, just made better) they’re so much easier to turn.
Rae is literally most amazing artist
Hey guys when you’re cleaning your pallets if you’re cleaning them in the sink, throw away as much of the paint as you can instead of putting more plastic in our water
the glitter pens I saw on TikTok that I'm obsessed with are the GuangNA Metallic Pen (One pen two colors) 12 pc they are beautiful!!!!
Friendly reminder that we love u Rae
Hmmm. Thanks for testing these products! Hopefully the acrylic paints don't go down the drain after every painting. Bad for environment and drains.
The size 003 is common I have multiple of them-
I bought some of that Watercolor ground and used it on a thin page in a journal.... it worked really stinkin' good!
The glitter pens used at 6:45 were extremely famous here in India 10 years ago and every single kid had it growing up. They are still around but didn't know that they are this popular now. It's a really classic art supply here for decorating project files etc and is pretty inexpensive
If I tried to use the tiny pen, I'd destroy it immediately lol. I'm too heavy handed.
Can you paint with red wine pls
I’m an artist and I do hair. Just get a color key from Sally beauty. It’s only like $3/4 bucks and it’s metal. Like the “toothpaste” things. It’s for metal dye tubes.
I found out about the cold press ground when I was trying to figure out how to make cheap prepared canvas water color friendly. I haven't used it yet but now thanks to you I see that it will work!
Something just to need you know, 0.03 pen isn't any thing new for jewellery industry, as jewellery designers ,most of the time, need that tiny pen to draw gemstones. I know nobody cares 😂😂😂😂

Definitely going to look in to getting the paint brush cleaner and the watercolor stuff. Love your videos. You get so excited over the little things and it tickles me. 😆
Anyone else curious as to if you could use the cold press ground on plastic wrap or wax paper or something and actually make a "sheet" of paper?!?!?! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Im assuming that this "paper" would have the structural integrity to work as paper by itself, but it seems like a cool experiment!
Rae, you aren’t supposed to wash acrylic paint down the drain. It’s very bad for the environment, people said that in your last hack video.
Its cheap craft paint she washed down, it's 99% cheap binder and will devolve into nothing, pretty sure she isn't killing g the environment
@@juriaan13 Acrylic paint is plastic. Its adding more plastics to our water that we do not need. Obviously she isn't singlehandedly killing the environment but really, people told her she shouldn't do that.
@@BubbleBunnyywhat should we be doing instead? I’m genuinely curious

The Pentel Hybrid Dual Metallic Gel Pens are also similar to those glitter gel pens, they are beautiful!
Grey plastic bits can be slid onto the squeezed tube ( after you fold it ) and it will keep the paint from going back to the bottom of the tube when you next use it.
Thanks for all the great tips! Sure saves me a LOT of money and time ❤️🙏
BTW ... I LOVE the sounds when you are opening packages and boxes of art supplies!! 😆 I may be crazy but, like your paint tube roller, the sounds are SO satisfying! Sometimes I even watch your older videos just to listen to the sounds! Thanks for the great videos 👍
