it's so refreshing to see people of different professions get recognition, I'm tired of everyone talking only about actors, singers and dancers, there are so many great talented people of other professions, they deserve our attention
You're right, but we can't blame the humanity about that. singers has the most attention because the sound of what they create comes down to our feelings which we can relate to or be moved by so easily, and so does dancers and actors.
Christine Daae I could not agree more. There are people who are great in their professions and they are inspiring but in this century the only important are actors and singers and that is sad
Ximon Whhatt noticed? You only get noticed by the people you put yourself forward to. If people notice you, means you've done a good promotion. It's called marketing! Imagine how many people she showed her work to to get noticed! There is no luck in stories like these, only hard work. Don't be jealous, work hard enough and you will earn a million too!
I don't think graphic designers meant to be "famous" or get noticed. Most people would know what the famous fonts are, logos are but not who made them. Great designs get noticed because of good designers. Not vice-versa.
Nice video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Fiymaria Graphic Gainer (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one off product for getting the best graphic design for your project minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy finally got astronomical results with it.
I'm so honoured to be part of Creative Market in this "Creative Market era", where talented designers are supported by this gorgeous community. I always found Nicky very inspiring though I don't make script types, btw my compliments.
The Blue Circle I think art goes hand-in-hand with engineering, though there is an obvious fork in the road between skill/knowledge. Both of these things are what run a successful economic and social/cultural system in a country
The Blue Circle That's awesome! I'm happy to see the arts and science come together. I'm currently torn between going into animation/directing/producing or conservation engineering/biology. Unfortunately art and bio/physics are considered opposite ends of the spectrum when they really shouldn't be.
Lol keep dreaming. Computers have actually substantially more skill when it comes to drawing, painting, etc. They just lack imagination, but they will gradually get it.
I find it even more amazing there are so many people willing to pay her for her great work. Usually when you do creative work or work at service stations or helpdesks there are always a lot of people who say "But I don't owe you money for this!? I could do it within half an hour drinking a cup of coffee." (No, you can't.)
I have actually cried watching this! Living life without constant stress, does this really exist! Congratulations Nicky!!! I think I will be going your steps soon!!
Love her confidence and passion. Also, ironically, on many accounts limitations offer fertile grounds for creativity (but of course only a creative person is able to put this notion into fruition)
congrats nicky, after this video, i start my experiences with online stores. you wake up my brain to achieve something in community, thank you very much
As a designer, I value her work. From my perspective, this CreativeMarket content is like a click bait. But I'm glad that as a designer getting a recognition is not an everyday thing. GREAT JOB NICKY!
How is the presentation like click-bait? If she really did make one million in Creative Market as a font designer/seller, then it's not click bait. Now they could mean that she accomplished one million in sales in her Creative Market shop, (as opposed to making one million in royalties - her cut from the sales), but many people will wrongly assume it's cash in her pocket. If that was the case, then she would have already known how much she made if they were talking about her profit.
Guys. Yes it is inspiring and I absolutely love her work as well, but I really hate that CreativeMarket made this a bit too commercial (clickbait title, making it all about the money) -- yes they know that's how you get designers signed up. But they are wrong. Good creativity like Nickys comes from passion and not from materialism motivation.
Most of us don't get to pursue our passion because we can't realistically make a living while doing so. Creative Market is a fantastic platform that allows designers to make a living through something they love. I am not at her level, but I am making a well-received side-income through Creative Market, and I just started. I look forward to having more and more time to do the stuff I love as I increase my creative market revenues.
Passion will dry up real quick when you cant pay your rent! This video is evidence of how your passion can pay off! Her interview covers the importance of a life balance!
Congratulations your gift is a talent, continue with love and do uplifting creative work. Really happy you are recognized and being paid for your talent.
How do you protect your work though? I mean as a designer you have to display your work to attract customers. What's stopping people from just copying something as simple as a font? This is what worries me..
Even if you register your work with the Copyright Office, YOU are still the one who is responsible for protecting your own works. If someone or company has stolen it and is reselling it, you have to go after them yourself and/or get an attorney to do so. It's sad and costly and if the theives are from another country, you are stuck.
I’ve been a artist since elementary my peers always told me to pursue it but now I’m just waking up to my gift and I’m trying to be a graphic designer for my family graphic design company you never know who’s watching
The only food that programmers and designers in Bangladesh can afford because they sell their labour on fiverrr and putting all of us into the race to the bottom.
This makes me so happy and a bit teary eyed, haha. I love her story, it inspires me. 💞💖😍💕 Yaye for her and may God (continue to) bless her. Much love and peace her way and to everyone one here! Let's keep dreaming and doing and making things we love to do. 💞
Her work is very good but she also has the advantage of specializing in such a currently trendy style of graphic design with the feminine, watercolor, brush script font look of the moment. That look is seen a lot nowadays.
I have designed a font, but the my font website doesn't accept my design, it's a cool idea and nice design but they not understand it, I really want to bring it to the market and let people use it with their creativity, is there another way to sell it?
it's so refreshing to see people of different professions get recognition, I'm tired of everyone talking only about actors, singers and dancers, there are so many great talented people of other professions, they deserve our attention
No they don't. People are allowed to like whatever they want and to allot their attention to whoever they want.
I don't see connection between my message and your words, I wrote about something else.
You're right, but we can't blame the humanity about that. singers has the most attention because the sound of what they create comes down to our feelings which we can relate to or be moved by so easily, and so does dancers and actors.

Absolutely incredible story, well done Nicky :)
Hi Danksy !!
Wohoo!! Congrats Nicky!!! I just started on creative market and broke $500 last week. You're an inspiration. I'll hit a million soon.
I'm jealous. rarely graphic designers get notice.
Diana Colon Incorrect, a graphic designer is suppose to make the client get noticed.
Ximon Whhatt noticed? You only get noticed by the people you put yourself forward to. If people notice you, means you've done a good promotion. It's called marketing! Imagine how many people she showed her work to to get noticed! There is no luck in stories like these, only hard work.

Good one, very true! :)
I don't think graphic designers meant to be "famous" or get noticed. Most people would know what the famous fonts are, logos are but not who made them. Great designs get noticed because of good designers. Not vice-versa.
I should speak for myself. That watercolor font went viral last year. It was basically EVERYWHERE! But I didn't know who made it!
Congrats again Nicky.
do suscibe me to get all this types of videos

Her work is gorgeous 💜 Congratz Nicky.
I should be jealous, but for some reason I'm sooooo happy for her, she deserves this and serves as hope and an inspiration for all graphic artists!

the only jobs that wont become automated in the future are jobs such as art. so, all the people that laughed at arts degree, wont have the last laugh.
The Blue Circle I think art goes hand-in-hand with engineering, though there is an obvious fork in the road between skill/knowledge. Both of these things are what run a successful economic and social/cultural system in a country
I know what you mean, I'm studying to become an engineer, and I am really good with art. I believe an engineer must have a good imagination.
The Blue Circle That's awesome! I'm happy to see the arts and science come together. I'm currently torn between going into animation/directing/producing or conservation engineering/biology. Unfortunately art and bio/physics are considered opposite ends of the spectrum when they really shouldn't be.

Blu They have already automated this. 😂😂
Yes! Being rushed on a product is an awful feeling! It takes time for that creative energy to get to you
I am a graphic design student.your story is amazing. you to girl I am very proud of you!!!
Welcome done Nicky Laatz. Great to see a fellow South African doing well and killing it. Very inspiring.

Divya M follow the path which you love doing and thereafter it'll be like no more working
Love her confidence and passion. Also, ironically, on many accounts limitations offer fertile grounds for creativity (but of course only a creative person is able to put this notion into fruition)
Proud to be say You made it ! since this is a very competitive work for us. Great work!

When I watch things like this it makes me think wth am I still doing at my 9 to 5 job :P
Stacie Ha I just broke out of the 9-5 shell and turned a freelancer. Good luck with yours.
Get busy on those font designs baby!!! lol
Well done Nicky. Hard work does pay off.
i’m so happy for you. congrats nicky wish you the best !

Very inspiring and I 100% agree with most of her thoughts on deadlines, having deadlines, pressures, etc.
Omg the background music....So inspiring !!!
Congratulations your gift is a talent, continue with love and do uplifting creative work. Really happy you are recognized and being paid for your talent.
It's really a very Inspirational for graphic designers! Congratulations Nicky! Thanks Creative Market for creating this video....:-)
How do you protect your work though? I mean as a designer you have to display your work to attract customers. What's stopping people from just copying something as simple as a font? This is what worries me..
water marks
When you design for others to use you are selling them the reproduction rights. There are licenses on Creative Market.
@@laurasanders5050 yea. how?

so inspiring!
do suscibe me to get all this types of videos
this is great marketing for your website but it would be great if you told us the average or median income of the people working at creativemarket.
$50 a week. Buys a lot of rice bowls in Bangladesh.
what's a rice bowl?
The only food that programmers and designers in Bangladesh can afford because they sell their labour on fiverrr and putting all of us into the race to the bottom.
rice is great, many country's main food is rice. fiverr stuff is usually basic things. you can still work for some company in your country.
@@llothar68 I have few question to ask ?
Wow! Talent deserves recognition and she has bucket loads. Congrats :-)
This is so inspiring 😍 As a fashion illustrator, this is something I feel is beyond my reach. But maybe I'll get lucky and my hard work will pay off..

That is so LEKKER! Well Done!!
Wonderful and inspiring store for anyone who's creative and trying to make it.
The music in the video is too loud
William Trader seems like music in RUclips videos is normally too loud for my taste ... why do people do that?
Very lovely and inspiring...
But she likely only made around 600K given the fact that Creative Market takes a massive 40% commission.
i hope to find a career where i feel free, but still will be able to help others and still express my creativity.
i am so happy for her!!!
super proud of her and inspired by her talent and her dedication
