It gets even better if you unscrew the filter holder. You can then use it with most smaller filter sizes. I like a V60 or a V60 Mugen. Beware that most 3rd party filters work better with a distribution device above the coffee bed.
I have one of the classic bigger ones (dual heaters) My grandmother has dementia and once decided to insert the coffee grounds into the water container. Pretty easy fix, cleaned it up, ordered the original heat fuse to replace the blown one, along with some other parts and I now use it daily. The machine is about 50 years old.
From other users of this brewer they stated Melitta #2 filters work and are cheaper. FYI I'm not crazy about Dunkin Donuts coffee. I prefer Starbucks Verona dark roast but to each his own. Thanks for sharing.
In Finland that is a very wanted coffee machine and it makes quite much better coffee compare with other brands, i sometimes drink coffee at my parents in law, they have this machine and it is very pleasant cup of coffee. Cheers Tom ✌️
@@TomsCoffeeCorner yea they like coffee a lot as finnish they are, they drink a lot and this machine is really good expect the price i would say it is a bit too high but here comes offers that you can buy this for even 180euro so i think its a good deal. I have myself a braun cheap one for brewing and i just put 90degree hot water to brew but still doesnt compare with the moccamaster.
Right on! I just love using this machine. My favorite thing about it, is that the coffee temp is spot on, not too cool like other methods I have tried. And, it is a beautiful machine! 🇳🇱 Cheers, Tom
That's so cute. I am used to the bigger versions of the moccamasters. They are the only machines my family uses and have been very reliable. Our current machine is 5 years old now, but the one we had before lasted us atleast 20 years.
Thank you Tom! I am a Dunkin lover so I appreciate the Dunkin reference. It doesn't look like you can fit a travel mug under the brewer which is a bummer. Great video!
When tried one, I found it difficult to brew a rich cup. I prefer dark roasts. I tend to agree with others who believe that this brewer needs a shower-type water dispenser better saturate the grounds, or at least requires stirring the brew early on.
nice review! I'm thinking of buying one of these, since i am the only one at home who drinks coffee and i prefer quality over quantity. Besides, the factory of these machines is 3 miles down the road from me, so i should support local business. ;-)
@@tristanwwsd More work, though. Unless you are a completely uncompromising perfectionist, who insists on washing/preheating the filter, blooming the bed before the main brew and stirring the grounds almost al the way through. In that case, the Moccamaster is arguably more work. But for more "normal" people, who still wants a very good cup of coffee, simply putting in filter, water and coffee, then pressing the button and walking away, still nets a very good cup as long as the coffee and grind is suitable. Possible caveats being if you prefer VERY light or dark roasted beans, and or very freshly roasted ones which blooms unusually aggressively. In both cases you may want to brew: At a different temperature in the former case; and while stirring the bed a bit throughout the brew in the latter. At which point, the "press a button" simplicity edge, starts weakening, and you may as well go full manual.
I have a full size Technivorm Moccamaster since a quarter of a century. It is the one with the thermopot And it runs as perfectly as it did fresh out of the box. Makes real good coffee But one thing is to be considered. It does best on a full load. A pot that holds a liter is not meant to produce a single cup. Physics, right? So Technivorm produced the product that is the solution. Because now and then I only want a single cup. But I battle with myself. Another coffee machine just for the now and then "one cup only" situation? That is crazy, isn't it? But then again, I have a Bialetti, a V60 and a Gaggia Baby (currently deconstructed and waiting for a PID, indefinitly) So who am I kidding, am I right? One more is not crazy
I usually turn it on with a little bit of water (you'll hear a click when it's enough) and that way I preheat the machine and the cup, but also I reasure with this step that it is not clogged.
Was almost sold on this but this has too much plastic that comes in contact with the hot water. Example the filter where the water drips. Plastic still leeches chemicals and drinking it everyday, no thanks. Stainless French press it is for now.
Two things. Dunkin coffee ? I put that in the category as below average coffee. Second, placing your mouth to blow out that clog is no bueno. I’ll stick with my Chemex. I can easily adjust my levels to make 1-3 cups instead of brewing 3 separate cups on the Mocca. I would consider the Moccamaster large volume if I needed to make a pot at a time. Thanks for your review
Thanks for the review! Can you make tea as well in the larger brewers? Which do you recommend for a 1-2 person household? I noticed that you can go one-cup or jump to a half carafe which seems like a 2 cup minimum?
Thanks for your comment! I feel like this machine simply makes a better brew, with its temperature stability, and the manner in which the coffee blooms. But it’s good to hear that there are other ways to take advantage of the Keurig.

@@laurenyoungs Just a drip, or more? Mine always drips 1-2 drips when adding water. I think it has to do with the water purging the air and water out of the system.
I’ve used my cup one daily for about a year and a half and the hole has never plugged up. I’m careful when I dump the grinds in. If you pre-wet the filter then you reduce the chances even more since a wet filter sticks to the sides.

Yes you can use #2. You’ll just have to fold both sides and the bottom to get it to fit but it does just fine!
