Great comment about who ever worked on PULP FICTION and RESOVIOR DOGS that they need a raise. I think they are just handing out the work to be done on 4ks to any joe blow.
#1 All time is still The Revenant. Ridiculously clear. Good list Adam
I have never seen singing in the rain and have it sitting on my shelf in 4K, nice to see it so high on your list I’ll have to watch it over the holidays!
Movieguy, I literally just bought these movies because of your recommendation. Gonna enjoy the winter! Thanks
Great list. I would have added Poltergeist for the picture upgrade alone. I know the lack of real audio upgrades hurt it, but I couldn't believe how the visuals improved on it.
I picked up some of these titles as well and it was like watching them for the first time. I had Reservoir Dogs in my wish list for a while but when it dropped to $14 I pulled the trigger (pun intended). Will be spinning that tonight!
I completely agree with you Adam. Tarantino releases were fantastic as well as The Godfather 1 and 2. Robocop is reference quality. Thanks for the vid and Merry Christmas!
Great picks Adam. So many to chose from
I was also impressed with In the Heat of the Night 4k. Beautifully filmic and one of the standout SDR releases
I'd add Blue Hawaii to that list. Colors in Hawaii are plentiful and they pop off the screen. The red car looks amazing 👏
Awesome list! Casablanca is an incredible 4K disc
Nice list. Drive, Casablanca, Singing in the Rain and RoboCop are great 4ks. I'd add Shouts American Werewolf in London 4k upgrade as well as I find that looks even better than their already great Blu ray from 2021. I really enjoyed Kinos 4k releases of Kubrick's The Killing and Killers Kiss also. I have recently ordered the 4ks of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs as I'd heard really good things about them. So really looking forward to checking those out given the how well they seem to be getting reviewed on physical media channels and websites like yours
Thanks for another awesome year of reviews happy holidays
Thank you, to you as well Rhino.
I second that emotion
:) hoping to get amazon cards for xmas to pickup all of the ones here I don't yet own. Will use your affiliate link, Adam. TY!
I dug the video sir. Watch all your videos and been a long time subscriber. I was wondering where would "The Lost Boys" would be in the list. I thought that was an outstanding 4k transfer and great HDR. Truly new cinematic experience.
I almost included both The Lost Boys and Poltergeist, they are really solid releases this year.
Great list, Adam. I totally agree and own them all minus Coraline. I would add honorable mentions for The Lost Boys, Poltergeist, and Fright Night.
Thank you Adam for all of the great content.
Happy Holidays my friend to you and your family. 🎄
Thank you, to you as well!
I watched High plains Drifter last night. The climax at night with the fire looked and sounded excellent.
Great list! My favorite catalogue title this year was I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Black and white!
My favorites were Casablanca, great films and shadows are so good. A lot of stuff, that is too dark in blu ray.
Double Indemnity, another nice film noir. Not as big as Casablanca, but if you like film noir... go for it!
Great list. I have every title, even honorable mentions, except Drive. I'll get Drive whenever it gets a US release.
Great video as always. Pulp fiction and Reservoir dogs are definitely on my Christmas list this year. Hope my two grown boys were listening. Merry Christmas and a safe 2023 to you and yours. Great Channel!
To you as well!
Great picks. All great movies. Thanks again for this. Hopefully know one gives you grief over picks 😊merry Christmas 🎄🎬🎥
Just purchased Robocop, a PHENOMENAL transfer one of the best ever. It looks as good as it sounds.
I love your number 1. Robocop does look fantastic!!!!!!
Never seen Edge of tomorrow, Guess will have to buy
You MUST!!!
@ColoradoKid303 thanks I probably will buy January 2023
A great list - I would a add Robin Hood Prince of thieves and the Frighteners. As stand out discs this year.
A great pick, 100% agree. Arrow did a nice job.
Devil in a blue dress by Criterion. Excellent transfer
I have Casablanca, Real Genius and Edge of Tomorrow on 4k and they're all great.
I'm thinking of picking up Robocop too.
Coraline & the Godfather trilogy were amazing. I would've added Highlander, A Christmas Story, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation to the list as well.
nice picks. my personal picks are rather small, which are both the Shout Factory Halloween box set that included both versions of Halloween 6 (Theatrical & Producer's Cut), Halloween H20, & Halloween Resurrection, and easily the one I was the most excited for the entire year, the Lionsgate 4K/Blu-Ray release of my all time favorite movie: Highlander. I've managed to pick up both the standard slipcover release and the Best Buy exclusive steelbook, and it was well worth it. the other movie I'm currently waiting on which hasn't released yet is Halloween Ends.
LOL. Your list isn't terribly different from mine. At least not seven from your ten anyway. I ended up getting:
1. The Godfather Trilogy
2. Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction
3. Edge of Tomorrow
4. Coraline
5. Robocop
6. Real Genius
7. Drive
The upgrades to Reservoir Dogs and Real Genius were astounding.
Side note: I just upgraded from a 65'' C8 to a used (got it for super cheap) 77'' C9. For movies the screen size was a huge improvement for overall presentation.
I like "A Christmas Story"
My Top 10 list of 4ks of 2022
1.The Lost Boys
2.The Godfather Trilogy
3.Pulp Fiction
4.Alfred Hitchcock collection Vol.2
5.Real Genius
6.Christmas Vacation
7.Poltergeist
8.Elf
9.Edge of Tomorrow
10.Robocop
Why people keep saying Tarantino doesnt like 4k. Tarantino never said that, people just took what he actually said out of context.
What did he actually say?
@@Matt20844444 it was one specific movie, I forgot but you can search it up.
I think it was A fistful of dollars at Cannes - they were going to show a 4K presentation and he thought it was a terrible thing to do at a film festival. 4K is fine for a home theatre experience, I think he said
His only 2 good films, Jackie Brown and Inglorious ain't on 4k so yeah 🪛 him lol
Same with Cameron, still waiting on T2 special edition, Aliens, Titanic and the Abyss (that one don't even got standard blu-ray released)
Double Indemnity? Not even an honorable mention for it?
Criterion knocked it out of the park with this release!
I wish someone would do a “top ten essential 4k movies” list need somewhere to start !
This is an older vid I did, but here you go.

@@MovieGuy365 thank you !
The Great Escape.
Why don`t the Amazon Affiliate Link work?
The Godfather 4K is pretty much in the top 3 4K releases of the year! And 'Top Gun Maverick' would be #1 for sure! You didn't even mention that!!?? Just curious, you did this review based on your personal favorites movies or which 4k releases you thought were best? I get it if you're just talking about your own personal faves but...to NOT include 'TG Maverick' and have The Godfather so low....just seems....odd. Nice vid though.
This was based on “Catalogue” 4K releases, not new from theaters. I ranked them according to quality of the disc, not the movie itself. I stated this at the beginning of the video. Top Gun Maverick would be on another list I’m posting this week.
@@MovieGuy365 Ah, yes...okay. My bad! Still surprised that The Godfather ranked so low.
I think blue Hawaii would should have been in there as well
why no guns of navarone. ?
Came out in 2021.
@@MovieGuy365 oh thought that did come out this year.....
Sweet❤❤❤❤
Why is Quinton Tarantino against 4k?
Interesting I had read a review that Robocop wasn’t that great of a 4K.
I'll say the stop motion stuff and some of the practical effects don't look great and the 4k transfer makes that stick out more like a lot but other then that it does look pretty good. Some scenes tend to be a little dark then others like the scene where Murphy gets obliterated
I read a similar review but only after I ordered it. I have a Samsung so it doesn't have Dolby Vision. It didn't look good to me either, and coupled with that review, I sold it. Now I'm really feeling like a dummy. I'll be fixing that situation in a month or two so maybe I can find a inexpensive copy on eBay, etc.
No Top Gun Maverick? Wow 😲 or the Hurt Locker this list isn't fluid 🤣
Catalogue releases means older films. Top Gun Maverick is a new release. Hurt Locker sounded amazing. The gritty cinematography didn't really lend itself to a crisp 4k release.
