2001 and Joker have really amazing 4K. Ready Player One has really immersive audio. Aquaman has some really vibrant Dolby Vision. I would’ve added the first 2 Harry Potter movies too, those have some amazing Dts:X sound!
Blade runner and 2001 are absolutely my top fav 4K discs of all time. Love all of Nolan’s stuff as well. I think ready player one is my all time fav new movie for hdr stuff, just wish it was a true 4K- still looks amazing in 2k though.
Yes it is but this list is for Warner Bros. movies. I tell you though SONY is going to be tough to make a top 10 list for or there will just be a lot of honorable mentions.
I like this series and look forward to your other studio top tens! For me, both Blade Runners, both Pacific Rims, The Shining, and Aquaman all blew me away
@@john2914 he is not reviewing the movies them selves, he is reviewing their 4K release from a specific studio only.. Pay attention before make fool if your self with petty comments..
Good list, but I found myself exclaiming, "Oh fuck you!" when Aquaman was number one. I know this was based on video and audio quality, not necessarily content, but there's no way I could sit through that movie again regardless of how good it looks.
It's a really good list. I would have to sit down and think if i could have a different order. I own all the movies on the list even the honorable mentions, with the exception of Space Odyssey 2001. I believe the movie looks amazing but I don't think I would actually be interested in the movie it's self. But maybe I'll pick it up!
For animated films, there's the Lego films, Storks & Scoob! on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Soon this year, there's the live action Tom & Jerry & Space Jam: A New Legacy on Ultra HD Blu-ray.
Aquaman audio mix is a one note bass drone that runs hot. Character breathes in, shakes your walls, exhales, shakes your walls, takes a step, shakes your walls. This is overly done till you are desensitized by the time real action takes place. There is no distinction between the bass. You want to show off your subs, Aquaman is the movie of this list. You want a good soundmix with more than one note bass, Godzilla King of the Monsters is the better choice.
These are some of my picks that didn't make your top 10. Fantastic Beast and where to find them (first movie), Dunkirk, Doctor Sleep, It plus It chapter 2, MAD MAX Fury Road, The Meg, San Andreas (just solely for the Atmos) and Tomb Raider (2018).
Nice list, Adam. I own all of these. Pacific Rim is the one I go to first out of these when I want to show somebody why HDR makes movies great. It's like every scene in the movie was made in order to be a showcase for HDR. Specular highlights abound throughout, making glass look realistic, metal and sparks shine, eyeballs look eerily real, bright colours, deep blacks and shadow detail... it's just such a demo-worthy disc.
If I may, why isn't Ready Player One considered True 4k UHD? You are not the only person to say it's not a true 4k resolution. I don't own it in 4k(I do have it on blu-ray though), but from what I can see on the back of the case looking on Amazon, it does say the main feature is 2160p ultra HD with Dolby Atmos TrueHD. So me, not knowing any better, I would think it was a 4k presentation, why is it not?
I’m familiar with Vincent and his stance on Blade Runner 2049 in regards to HDR. I respect his opinion, but they they aren’t identical. The HDR nit count is lower, for sure, but saying the SDR on the Blu-ray is the same as the 4K HDR just isn’t the case.
@@MovieGuy365 Appreciate the reply, good discussion. My take is we need standards for what is deemed HDR as I'm cool with directors wanting a certain artistic look but just don't advertise it as such or display better stats so the consumer can judge for themselves. I own BR2049 for what it's worth and liked the movie.
Well I'm still not buying some of these because I'm just not a fan of the movies, but I'm sure glad I already have most of this list. I am surprised, and grateful, you included the upscales. Is it an upgrade over the Blu-Ray? If the answer is yes then that is all that really matters. Yeah they should advertise that it is not true 4K, but that will never happen so we should just be satisfied that we are getting is an upgraded presentation. ...... BTW just got THE KINGSMAN 4K Double Feature from BEST BUY for $14.99 this week. That has to be a steal right?!
I watched the 4k of BLADRUNNER and that grain didn't make the movie look 4k and I was not impressed. I thought laserdisc, VHS even cable tv looked better. The sound was good not great.
Adam good choices except for 1 movie, Batman Returns. Oh How much i hate that movie. Hate the way Tim Burton depicted the penguin, extra weird and strange. The only two i dont have in my collection are Blade Runner and Pacific Rim. In my collection i have 351 4K movies. Been collecting movies for over 38 years. I have a total of 18,239.
Isn't Blade Runner 2049 from Sony? At least the edition I have says it's from Sony or is there any different between the Latin America's Sony edition and the Warner one?
Thanks for this.....you have made several fine selections however some of the best looking and sounding films though are not always quality in terms of acting, writing and directing... ie Aquaman (fun but lame) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (terrible story and limp directing). Look forward to your other offerings...
@@MovieGuy365 ..thanks I do realize ( and appreciate) that and I was not meaning to be critical of you or what you have presented....its just that if you get a good looking and a great sounding film; one that is actually also a good movie that is worth multiple viewings ie The Matrix, Bladerunner, Batman etc to me that is a real bonus and hard earned money well spent. Thanks again and do take care!
I respect Vincent, but he has his own standard for what minimum of nits are required to be considered HDR. As you said, it’s more complicated then that.
@@MovieGuy365 listening to other folks, such as yourself, talk about it it surely seems to be a subjective thing to a certain extent. Its good to get various opinions. Just look at Ghost in the Shell. Some love it and others hate it. Or having some 2k upscale releases look just as good as some native 4k, as your number 1 here shows.
How could you leave out Lawrence of Arabia. Yes Aquaman was impressive but god..................so awful. Cringe worthy awful. But I get it, on a audio video front yes very impressive
Lawrence of Arabia is a Sony title, not WB. This list was about the best 4K titles from Warner Bros. In addition, it’s not about the quality of the movie itself, just the Picture and audio merits.
I really don't see why everyone gushes over Joker's picture. It's nice looking, for sure, but it certainly wouldn't be one I would pull out to show people why 4K and HDR are such a step up.
What TV did you watch the movie on because on my LG C9 which is the same TV that Adam watched the movie on I can agree with him. Everything about that movie was on point. But to each their own. Which ones would you have picked from Warner Bros. that didn't make his list? I'm surprised that Mad Max Fury Road didn't at least get an honorable mention.
We need a home theatre tour! Great content as always

Definitely agree that Aquaman is Spectacular in 4k, the colors fly off the screen and sounds amazing 👏
Already knew Blade Runner, 2001, Joker and Aquaman would be on this list!
Pacific Rim and Aquaman are my "go to" movies.
Aquaman? You are a young person? Its a shit money grab movie, but thats ok. Your life is explained with your comment. Good luck to you.

To bad Aquaman is one of the worst films ever made
John Christ who shot your puppy?
I was expecting to be disappointed by this list. But I wasn’t and totally agree with all the rankings
The Shining is my all time favourite movie, I've seen it hundereds of times and I was spotting things in the 4k that I had never picked up on before.
Good list, but I found myself exclaiming, "Oh fuck you!" when Aquaman was number one. I know this was based on video and audio quality, not necessarily content, but there's no way I could sit through that movie again regardless of how good it looks.
I'll have to pick up Pacific Rim now, I always enjoyed that movie and it's relatively cheap too!
It looks and sounds incredible in 4K. Amazing considering it's a 2K upscale, you'd never know unless it's something you looked into!
Looks like I have a few more to purchase. I held off on a few of these because they were included in my WB 50 Blu-ray Box Set.
Great list. MM Fury Road & Man of Steel is my choice as well
Mad Max Roads Of Fury was also my favorite
Dr Sleeps not even in the list I watch this film once too twice a week trully great story, great actors and well made in other words EPIC!!
Doctor Sleep was close to being on the list.
good review my friend!!!
Thanks for setting me straight on #1 and #2. I would have thought the opposite. Great countdown. I’m not a fan of top 10s but this was good.
Great list! A little surprised not to see Beetlejuice make it on there. I love that disc.
Like I said in the video, it was a tough list to settle on.

Awesome list! And I have them all!! 😊
The matrix it's great
They sure make a solid list don't they? I would also give Beetlejuice and Mad Max fury rd. honorable mentions.
I own all of these and agree. Besides Sony, I think warner bros is at the top of the 4k blu ray spectrum
Great video. Totally agree with the list. I love it...
I like to watch Pacific Rim again. Previously watch the bluray version only.
Nice selection! I buy way too many 4k blurays, and you're not helping!! 😉
For animated films, there's the Lego films, Storks & Scoob! on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Soon this year, there's the live action Tom & Jerry & Space Jam: A New Legacy on Ultra HD Blu-ray.
WB has the best catalog titles but universal has be killing this year as well
Wait until I get to that top 10!
Where does one get that Gladiator Hulk statue? it looks awesome.
Blade Runner 2049 is one of the only movies that absolutely works my rears to there full potential, I had to turn them down a couple DBs
Did you forget to include Mad Max 4k? Isn't that a warner bros? That wad a really good disc.
Mad Max has top notch audio, but the picture wasn’t as strong in my opinion.
When you do Fox, please don't include it with Disney, Fox did a head of 4K's on their own before Disney took over.

It’s not “native” 4K resolution, just upscaled. The film was finished at around a 2K DI and upscaled to 4K for disc.
Where do you find out if a film is shot in 2k, 4k, or on film, upscaled, etc?
Just so you know HDR and SDR on Blade Runner 2049 are identical as shown by HDTV Test's YT channel. Good list nonetheless!
