I also have had the good fortune to visit Sequential and get a tour of the facility with a local synth club. It was a real treat to see where the magic happens and meet some of the folks who work at Sequential. I also have had the very good fortune to visit our local synthesizer store RobotSpeak and have enjoyed Carson Day sharing several performance on Sequential synths. So lucky to have had these experiences here in the San Francisco area.
Thanks for sharing that. It was a magical experience to visit DSI/Sequential, glad you also had the chance! :) WHen I was visiting San Francisco I was also able to record Carson's demo of the PRO3 at Robotspeak. Great place!
How wonderful that you were also able to visit RobotSpeak to record Carson Day performing on the Pro 3! RobotSpeak is such a rare place these days. For anyone in to synths wether it is small tech toys, Eurorack modules and systems, or full sized professional synths like Sequential and more, RobotSpeak is a must see place! Thank you for sharing your videos with us. They give us all a small peek into the world of synths that we all love.
On another site, a guy goes under the hood of various synths. Under the Prophet 12 it looked so simple for what the synth can do. But those boards hold more complexity than what we saw under the hood of the PSI10
Superb, unusual Dave Smith Instruments synth studio & office tour ! Thumbs up for the project & awesome quality moment ... Great weekend to you with new projects ! ;-))
I was there today... I've been wanting to do an A/B comparison of the Prophet-12 and the new REV 2... I will be adding a Prophet-12 to my studio very soon... what a killer machine! I saw Carson, but I was invited by my friend Tony Karavidas, one of the engineers. Spoke to Dave for a few minutes, talked about the fires up in wine country... such an awesome experience...
That's awesome! Glad you got to visit DSI as well, it's a magical place and everyone working there is amazing. Also nice that you were able to chat with Dave himself! :)
This is such a great and friendly video. Thanks Carson and synth4ever. So great to see the inside of the Prophet-10 and also the OB-6. It must be wonderful to have creative work like this. I noticed there wasn't much stuff from the late 1980s, like the Prophet-VS or the 2000 and 3000 samplers. Maybe they were at the back of the office where they were probably developing the Prophet-X.
Hoping to visit Sequential next week. Just picked up the Take 5. It sounds smooth and analog, with a modern touch. I was going to save up for a Prophet 6, but the Take 5 is all I need. I can always use another synth for pads.
Congrats on the Take 5, I saw your demo videos -- great stuff! :) Sequential HQ is a magical place and fantastic to visit if you can. Enjoy your visit and tell Carson I say hi! :)
@@synth4ever Thanks, what an honor - that you watched the Take 5 demo! Sequential said they are closed for tours (COVID19). Oh well, maybe next year...
This is an awesome tour. I hope one day ya get to meet Dave Smith himself. I'm shure he'd love to see yer demos on yer DSI PolyEvolver if he ain't seen 'em already.
Damn, I've walked right past there and not even realised before lol. Looks like a nice compact team to shake the Earth! :) Now we just need to Bladerunner-zoom on the right frame down that other end of the office..
Thanks for sharing. It was interesting seeing the OB6 voices as memory DIMM that can easily be swapped out. Makes you wonder if you can hack an 8 voice. :)
Hey bro, fantastic channel ! Did you compose the music at the very begining ? Its kinda my fav style of music, you would listen to it enterely if possible :)
Thanks! Yes, that is my music. It's titled "The Wishing Well" from this video: ruclips.net/video/_Rh1G8Twf1w/видео.html It will be on my 4th ambient compilation (once released) here: synth4ever.bandcamp.com
EverettDudgeon138 They do look cool, but with splits now we don't really need it. If I remember they did it because 10 voices got too hot so they separated them? With today's technology he probably could do a prophet 10 without heat issues. Or my dream an OB-10 with splits and layers!! Either 10 voices or 2 X multi-timbral 5 voices. Add 2 sequencers instead of 1 so we can do some counterpoint with different patches. I'm only dreaming.
I honestly am surprised he hasn't done a multitimbral analog synth. A lot of people were comparing the Alesis Andromeda to the Rev2 because of the 16 voices and it seemed like during a demonstration the DSI guy was like "The Andromeda...not so good." I was like "uh.....Andromeda is multitimbral, this is bitimbral"
DS Instruments tis a boutique affair. However, when you with thine eyes feast upon Das Innardz of the operation it doth take away from dat mystique. Thousands of dollars for old tech, meh. Don't people know that virtual synths are now virtually indistinguishable from real, analog synths? It's here -- it's finally happened! Casual listeners who spend money on music would never know the difference. Those who craft it might know the difference (only because they are aware of the tools they use). Blindfolded even the purist would have an impossible discernment. Either way, enjoy your beats bastard humanity!
We will miss you, Dave. Hopefully the company will continue your amazing legacy. R.I.P.
12:57 You know your synth is a beast when it can roar without even being turned on.
Absolutely :) Prophet 10 definitely fits that category.
That was an awesome noise when he opened the Prophet 10!
Totally! I was really taken aback... what a beast!
It's like the door being opened in a spooky castle in an old horror movie.

I recently bought a REV2, this video provides a nice connection to where it came from and the people that created this awesome instrument.
This is amazing studio with the nature view and all that synth, like a paradise.
:)
What a great space and super friendly folks. The electronics in the Prophet 10 are mind blowing!
Thanks! I agree, everyone is super friendly and super passionate about their work. Prophet 10 is crazy under the hood!
nothing compared to a cs80

I could live in that demo room for weeks. Thanks for sharing your tour!
Absolutely... you're welcome!
I love that his personal favorite is the Pro 2! That's my favorite DSI/Sequential synth too!
This is so incredible!!! Thank you so much for that TOUR! I really had a big pleasure to be there with you! DS is legend..for sure
You're welcome, thanks for watching. I agree, there is so much history at DSI, it was incredible.

Thanks Dave, my pleasure. Huge thanks to Carson and DSI for allowing me to take the tour and share it with you all.
What a great and candid tour. Thanks Carson of DSI!! Wow, so cool to see inside the OB-6 especially.
they drew some drawings inside the keyboard - "THIS IS INCREDIBLE"
good synths. good people. thank you for posting.
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Nice mellow tour, cheers!
thanks a lot for this tour ! I love it !
Thank you for taking some time to watch!
Amazing tour! Very very cool. Thanks for sharing. I love how you couldn’t resist reaching out to touch that very last Prophet 5 :)
Hehe... couldn't resist I guess. :)
Thanks for sharing those nice scenes and look into this great company.
Thanks for taking some time to watch and comment, appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing this great tour of Dave Smith Instruments.
You're very welcome!

Great Video. Great subject. More of that...👍

The tech guy Andy Lambert worked on my Ob-6. Very nice guy. They are a class act with customer service.
That's awesome to hear. Everyone there is very knowledgeable and they have a great team.
Great tour. Did you get a shot glass? If so, which one?
Thanks. I got the Evolver, Prophet 12 and OB-6 glasses. :)
Thanks !!
Cool tour. I got to see the inside of the OB-6 without having to open mine :) Quite different than my OB-8 lol.
:)
Thanks for sharing. It was interesting seeing the OB6 voices as memory DIMM that can easily be swapped out. Makes you wonder if you can hack an 8 voice. :)
Hehe... perhaps someone is already working on that, somewhere out there... :)
Great video !
The speakers in Daves office @ 12:05 are Meyer Sound HD-1. I guess if Dave trust them I can trust them.
What a nice Video, thanks!:)
Thank you for watching!
Would be cool to see a similar Video at the Moog Factory! Thumbs up for your work!
Thanks! Never been to Moog factory, but wouldn't be opposed to it if someone were to buy me a flight down... :) Hehe...
Vampires were going to pop out of that prophet 10 with that squeak.
16:57 A great list!
Lexicon 224? 18:23
Cool vid. Cheers.
Thank you Ben!

Build quality is considerably better on the prophet rev2 compared the original prophet 08.
No Pro-1 ? Kinda Surprised since it was a best seller in it's day
Hello synth4ever. Do you know how to program change with ableton after the 100th preset? is it done with the banks and sub banks? thank you!
Hi, sorry I do not. I don't use Ableton.
9:08 so the first name of the evolver was 'noise' :)
Will there be a Desktop REV2 in the near future ? I dont need more Keyboards.
Good question.... I don't know, but maybe reach out to DSI and suggest it.
Wow... it looks like DSI just announced the REV2 desktop unit! Nice timing. :)

No Prophet VS in the house?
Maybe somewhere, but didn't see one myself.
14:14 Gold Voyager knob!!
12:56 was the organic VCA
Prophet es una bestia
:) Yes!
22:49 goes robot
When he opened the Prophet 10, it sounded like bats were going to fly out and there was going to be a cobweb covered skeleton inside
Haha... yea, it sounds a bit like opening a crypt! :)
Noticed there wasn’t a prophet 2000 in the synth graveyard 😂
Makes me depressed we'll never see a double keybed from Dave again like the Prophet 10.

Still..

LOL .the cheap skates @ KORG gave him a ms20 legacy controller , instead of the real deal

golf-freq fukk off troll.
golf-freq dave also makes hybrids. If you are favoring vst's, they only last about 6 years. Hardware lasts a LIFETIME.
Thank you sir, I intend to do just that! :)
PROPHET 5 REISSUE PLS !
Jazz Beats dave does not do re-issues.
Jazz Beats no
I think it's time for dsi to make silk screen layouts instead of these cheap ass overlays
SA-WEEEEEEEEET! Thank you for this! What a BLAST!!!
Nice!!
