At every show featuring synths, I find a DSI/Sequencial or Moog. And in rare cases there's some other synth, it often is one that uses specific technology developed by Moog or Dave Smith.
I lived in SF 12 years too bad I never got to meet or see his studio. I didn't find out about him until I discovered the unique sound of the WaveStation.
When I was working at Kurzweil, I have a memory of this guy coming in to to do a review for the Forte. He was an awesome keyboard player and definitely knows his shit. I will never forget this guy's voice either.
I got a Sequential Multi-Trak shortly after they came out around 1985 or so. I loved it, but over the decades lost it. Recently came across one for sale near me and had to go grab it for $700. It was I felt better than the Prophet 600 with several additional features and MIDI built-in. I actually like the color scheme, along with the separate audio outs which correspond to the 6 tracks of the sequencer, but if you plug a cable into one of the audio outs, that track is removed from the main outputs, so you can audio process some tracks. It was/is a powerful synth, easy to program and still totally hip. I love mine. Thank you Dave!
Hey Gary...yeah, I liked the Multi-track so much I got 2! Still have them, although I’m an iOS synth guy these days. It is a powerful beast...that you can tweak each oscillator/voice individually and the stack them into one big, fat monophonic voice...nothing like it. ✌️☕️🎩🎩🎩
That "Happy Birthday Dave" from radiohead on their poster just goes to show how much that man has brought to the professionnal music industry. True legend !
I started to have interest in DSI gear from when I first heard YMO and learned that they were using SeqCircuits Prophet.. thanks to YMO I am now into synthesis, sequencing ,programming etc etc and about to put some money down for Prophet REV2 desktop module. This guy is my hero...
What a true Pioneer. In addition to his famous synths that changed the world, he invented the midi protocol that is still in it's 1.0 revision even to this day.
HatredPrime haha I thought the same thing. Have you seen that photo of Alex Jones in that studio with like 303s and 808s behind him saying he was working on tracks?? Lol weird stuff.
Wow what a fascinating look at how Dave sees his own product line sheesh - this is where the internet really shines!! Dave should have gotten the job of scoring Stranger things … would be even better
RIP Dave thank you for everything.💜🌹
A true legend of electronic music.
Dave Smith is a national treasure. Protect at all costs.
died from a heart attack unfortunately
@@YonatanLidar sucks
Amazing video, thanks so much for this!!!
And now there’s a Pro 3, too …
If I could only have 2 Sequentials, they would be a Rev2-16-KB and a Pro 3 SE. ❤️❤️
Agreed, but append the Prophet 10.

What an amazing man Dave Smith was. His fingerprints are everywhere in modern music.
Rest in Peace good Sir.
How come Dave is such a likeable guy? What an asset for a salesman!
That other geezas rough narley voice should be designed into a synth.

Mr. Dave Smith, a synth genious that future centuries will remember as a pioneer in what we call music and the making process of it.
I just marvel at the genius of this man

Hey bro... I worked at Kurzweil, too...around 1987-ish? Bumped into Bob Moog all the time. ✌️☕️🎩
We'll miss you, Dave. R.I.P.
I was hoping to see the VS.
Gonna miss this guy. He built incredible sounding synths.
Great to see Dave with his legendary stuff. I am A proud owner of a Prophet T8. I am curious to learn how many were built

Well done Dave for not pissing yourself with laughter at Daffy's inane cartoon duck voice

It is nice how he acknoldges that people are wanting the Evolver more and more....here is hoping for the Evolver 2.
I love the A to C six octave keyboard on the Prophet-T8. Need a Prophet-6 with a keyboard like that and 10 voices! That would do nicely. :-)
Alex Jones and Dave Smith awesome

I have a REV2, but I always unplug it after I play it because if not, it spies on you for the illuminati, the bilderbergs and the CIA.
Alex Jones? Didn't he say the globalists are turning the frogs gay?
Krissy Jame he’s been right on quite a bit.
I hope DSI does a new Evolver or at least something with VS waves.
Agreed Evolver Rev2
How cool is this :-) Dave Smith giving us a tour of his work. A big thanks to DSI for making great gear that won’t destroy our wallets.
Dave still alive in our synths!! ❤

I'm missing the Prophet VS
The steve jobs of Synths, love you forever. Thank you for your legacy Mr Dave Smith.

Pro 2 is a fucking beast!
Oh Dave, why did you discontinue the P-12, one of your favorites, as you said.
I don’t expect an answer. :‘(
I think it didn't sold well. I love mine.
I'm only thinking how he protects all these great classics against sunlight and heat.
North facing room?
