I watched a few early tekken videos when max came back to it, and the progression to now is fun to watch. His combos, punishes, timing and spacing are so much better now
It's cool that we're watching Max ranking up from scratch. His progress is noticeable, specially considering Tekken is easier to watch than other faster more chaotic fighters. Even casuals can visually identify a well timed whiff punish here

I played Overwatch and fortnite. when i lose a match i feel like i did everything i could but there's an X factor that's just beyond my control. Whether it's a bad teammate in Overwatch or trash loot in fortnite. And Overwatch is really toxic. Nothing makes me rage in a game more than a bad teammate in a game that relies on teamwork. But Tekken is so fair that i feel like whoever beat me earns it. I'd literally be saying "nice combo!" whenever i see someone drained half of my health bar lol. And I'd fight them again while figuring out how to beat them. It's such a unique feeling that I've never had in a game before
Haven't watched a lot of Tekken streamers, have you? Tekken players will often compliment their opponent's execution, punishment, movement and overall gameplay, as long as the opponent is respectful. It's not uncommon for streamers to go "great punish", "nice", "good one", etc.

It's fun too see how much you've improved. I remember watching a clip of you in green ranks and you dropped most of your combos, yet still your fundamentals were good enough that you managed to have a winning record. Now that you can finally finish your combos the improvement in play (and rank) is clear as day :D Next step is optimizing those combos. Learn some wall stuff :D

What I like about Tekken is you can play the same person as much as you want So if you feel you had a good match but still lost, and wanna improve vs that matchup, you can keep going until you or the other person quits
In any 2D fighter, it's pretty standard to crouch block, but for some reason I feel like such a pussy when I crouch block in Tekken. Makes me look like I'm scared or something lol
crouch blocking in 2Ds is the go-to cause it blocks everything but overheads and jumping attacks which are all pretty easily seeable. You dont crouch block in Tekken (much) because everyones got crazy ass mid launchers and most lows arent that dangerous
Yeah, painful to watch. No defense and seemed to know about 10 moves, if that. Being hyper aggressive and using strings is not going to help you improve people...
If and or when there's another chicken tag tournament, it needs to go against, the characters from kof, they also need a simple story, the story needs to be, basically more or less, this is just a tournament Arc, no complicated scheme or plan, just a tournament, with some references to triple h, Mr McMahon and WWE within its eternity, if not triple h and Mr McMahon, then a reference towards, a e w or New Japan pro.

Updoot: Redownloaded Tekken, spent a little time in practice to remind myself of the controls and went in to ranked. Immediately forgot *everything* about how to play. Couldn't remember what the command for Kata's Rage Art was. (It's 3+4) and I'm up against a Hwo. So I lose 5 matches straight and at points I'm asking myself "Why did I do this to myself?" But I was picking up a few things. I was blocking lows and getting a few cheap bits of damage off (can't do combos) and eventually won the next 2 straight. That feeling is one of the most satisfying feelings.
Is a shame everyone clowns on Max for playing Noct. Not his fault Noct is the only character he likes playing seriously in all his time playing the game on and off since launch. Max has said he was always a Jin main before t4 completely changed his moveset, only for it to come back as the horned goth e-boy known as Devil Jin.
Kunimitsu is my main, and that player was making me made, with how much meat they left on the bone. 🤬🤬🤬... I also learn some things at the same time so Im not too mad. 😂
Hey Max, make sure what ever move u use to stagger them doesn't have too much recovery Frames so u can dash forward quicker, I noticed that while training with Alisa🥤

I'm hoping sometime around this time of year next year, but I heard a theory that they'll use next year as marketing time and put the game out in 2024 early in the year. Either way it goes, I can't wait til it comes out cuz I'm not gonna sugarcoat it
There's a launcher max uses to catch people who wake up (aka get off the ground after a combo) early a lot. If they know he has it, they stay on the ground for a split second longer to let it whiff then get up, if they DONT know, they wake up into it and get punished.
Apparently, they enjoy dying faster and being counter hit. Jk, because whatever they're trying to mash out is more than likely an evasive move or a powercrush, in hopes that they'll be able to out time the next move or avoid it entirely and hopefully get you into a combo. I play against people much higher rank than myself, but we play at about the same level and even they do that. They just have actual movement and high damage combos.
If you don't have the match up knowledge. It's sometimes good to "jab check" to see if you can interrupt mid string after a block. If it doesn't work the first time, you should stop jab checking the string and simply block and punish (if you can) the last hit of the string. Basically it's OK if you are trying to gather match up information. But for some people, pressing buttons is too tempting even when they know it doesn't work.
@@naiiin6949 she's a mixup character, her gameplan is different than most of the roster, she loses in a close brawl but makes up with her speed and range, and tricky stances, she wins by being unpredictable. Fighting against a mixup character is basically "can you guess their next move?". If you guess right, she's in trouble, but you guess wrong you lose. Love or hate her, she definitely adds to the variety. Also yeah that kuni is really bad, she only knows like five strings
@@SchradeDemise Except she doesn't lose in a close brawl because of her super solid jab strings/hard to punish mid tracking powercrush and Set 2. For a mixup character, she can still play the poke game very well. Most Kuni's don't understand the game enough to pull it off though.
@@bobmarley-qf2mo b2 is punishable(and has been nerfed) and set 2 can be interrupted during set if you're too close. Which makes her dash risky at close range. She does has pokes and punishes for sure but there are many characters who do those better than her. You don't play kuni for pokes and punishes, you play her for cool ninja shit

I'm a kuni main and I'm gonna be honest. It's a pain to watch that kuni. He probably got her to that rank by ranking up other characters and then he decided to play around with her. Nothing wrong with that, I've seen players in way higher ranks just pick up a random character and go into matches without knowing anything about it because who cares. It's very normal to take a break from playing seriously with your main and have fun with any other characters.

Go watch Book's Jin, or a strong player that actually uses Mishima wavedashes. I guarentee you will not find them slow. Jin has a lot of really strong moves. In low ranks, Jin's hesitate a lot on what move they should use and end up using the same thing over and over, despite it costing them the match. That Jin needed to apply f4 more often as a poke and work in 2,1 up close, back 2,1 for whiffs, and actually use ff2 on occasion. Just because the moves don't always look flashy or give chunky damage does not mean they are not useful. Noctis is much weaker than Jin, it's just Max is confident in his move selection and knows how to play fighting games well.
As much as I love Max playing Tekken, why does he have to choose the corniest character? Cmon man do you really need this big ass sword to play a game thats traditionally a martial arts game?
Idk about tekken anymore. It used to be so fun to play when i was younger but playing it now just feels so sloppy and clunky. The combos look wack. The juggling is awkward. Its just an odd game to try to get used to.
