I can honestly say I've never heard of carne guisada, but if Kent Rollings is gonna make it it's gonna be gooo, ood ..... I also learned the primary function of a cowboy hat is for balance. No matter how far his body sways to the right or left, his head always stays level.
Me neither... looks great.
I've been eating carne guisada since I was a kid, it's one of my favorite dishes. This recipe looks great!
You are the Mr. Rogers, the Bob Ross of Cooking. Your videos help me escape everything I'm going through. From the bottom of my heart I just want to say thank you Sir!!!!

Thank you! I'm from Puerto Rico and "carne guisada" is staple food here! I lived in Tulsa in the early '80's! Loved the city!

We've made sooo many recipes shared by you, Cowboy Kent and this one is now slated for tomorrow's supper. We canned smoked poblano peppers this summer and they will work great in this meal! Thank you so much for everything you and Mrs. Shannon do to share the cast iron outdoors cooking!
My husband and I just made the drive to Wellington from Weatherford last week to go to the coffee shop. It was a great experience, the staff was professional and the coffee was perfect. Great place you and Shannon have!
Sorry we missed yall Kimberly thank you for coming by
I'm from south Texas Rio grande Valley and grew up eating carne quisada, rice and beans with flour tortillas. This version is a bit different but looks amazing. I'm going to give it a shot. Thanks for sharing.
Same here I'm from Corpus, I've been eating it just like you described my whole life but I'm gonna try this version!
Im from San Antonio, same deal here. Gonna try this, it looks like something my grandma would have made.
You are one of my favorite people on RUclips. Not just entertaining, not just informative, but just good people. Love you sir.
Thanks so much
Well done, Amigo! That is a traditional, any day of the week meal in mexican households. Beans, rice or both and tortillas, you need nothing else
I used to live in this small town in Texas growing up and there was little Mexican food stand owned by this nice lady. It wasnt much bigger than a tool shed . You walked up to the window got what you wanted then ate wherever you wanted. Let me tell you everyone in town loved to stop by there and grab food. Me and my buddy would just sit under a nearby tree and eat our fill.........anyway without a doubt my most favorite thing to get was her Carne Guisada , I got it at least 80 percent of the time. She would put it on flour tortilla like you did.
I used to go out to Mexican restuarants but they only had the Asada version ( which I like too) but I crave for the Guisada.
Im gonna have to make this and go down nostalgia lane.
Beautifully made! Thanks for sharing Latino dishes. It's awesome seeing our food appreciated by other walks of life.
I grew up in California I love authentic Latin food.
We are not different. Only if YOU see it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Everyone needs a Cast iron! dont matter if its a skillet or a Dutch Oven, They hold heat really well and produce some amazing flavor! im starting a collection :p got about 5 pieces now :D
I have a grill pan/griddle, 10 n 12 inch skillets and now a dutch oven. Thinking next will be a sm skillet since I am single and plan to stay that way for a while lol

Well Kent, I'm puertorican and I approve your carne guisada. I'll be moving to Texas soon and I was thinking about bringing my carne guisada empanadas and many other puertorican recipes with me and start a small food veteran owned business there. I hope that someday I can witness your cooking live. God bless you, Shannon and your dogs, and thank you for recognizing our veterans and their sacrifices on every video you make. Take care.
Amen. Good luck, and sure you'll do well!

Hello Kent! As a chef specializing in Brazilian gastronomy, I say with all sincerity: I use your cooking techniques in some dishes and I'm even relearning how to cook thanks to you! I say this quite frankly! These are simple and rustic techniques that make all the difference! Earned my trust and admiration! I'm from Brazil, but specifically from midwestern Brazil! I've been a chef for over ten years and our cuisine is very similar to South American and Midwestern cuisine!
We thank you for watching
Carne Guisada is a favorite of mine. I love to see the traditional cooking methods and recipes kept alive. Thank you for sharing. I always cook using old school traditional recipes and methods I have learned along the way these past 60 years. I don't own a microwave, a teflon pan, or an oven. I always cook with live fire either grilled, smoked, or in cast iron except for the water I boil for coffee. Everything tastes so much better this way and nothing comes from a can.
Our pleasure!
Kent im 26 and you have changed the way I cook forever thank you for making my cooking way better and helping me make amazing meals for my family
Thank you! My daughter's and I watch all of your recipes.
Salsa verde (green tomatillo sauce) works great with pork in
green chili sauce but for the beef guisado, my Grandmother and Mother used to make it the same way and I make it just the way you do but I like lots of garlic...the poblanos give it
that special unique Mex. braised flavor. It's wonderful how food can bring back such vivid memories of our departed loved ones.. not just visually but you can almost smell it. We all know that a lot of Mexicans criticize your videos because maybe it's not 100% authentic but then again even in Mexico every state/region has a slight variation of a dish and besides, in Texas Arizona and New Mexico, Mexican style food is different but this dish is like right on.
You a real one for this recipe, Cowboy Kent!
I caught myself reaching out to take it when he served it up. I’ll share this with my friends and my sister-in-law. This is good hot comfort food. Thank you Kent. I like your new cooking set. Awesome.
Looks amazing! Love the dancing after the taste! You are an American classic
WOW, looks delicious, of course all of you recipes do, thank you y’all
Dear Kent & Shannon, I don't know if you have time to sharpen your own knives but I gave up trying to sharpen with a stone or grinder. I bought a Lansky Diamond sharpening kit for $80 and have never had such sharp blades. From the paring knife to the chef's knife, incredible accuracy and edge! I keep them sharp via a wooden backed leather strop.
Thanks for being you Kent!
Cowboy Kent, you and your wife and all the pups are really a daily blessing... just good down home folks sharing some wonderful recipes. Many blessings to you and yours.
Big John
Wow. Can't wait to make this Kent-style for my family. Thank you!

Oh man....I just made this recipe!!!! It is soooooo delicious!!!! I dont even want to wait for my hubby to get home so we can eat, thats how much my mouth is watering with this one!!! Thank you for sharing your love of cooking!!
I cook this dish every week with flour tortillas MMMMMM
Kent try browning the flour on a second pan before adding to meat it thickens the broth and browns the dish
Yum. My family makes a version of this at least once or twice a month in a pressure cooker. It goes great with pan de campo.
This looks so delicious! Thank you for sharing
I tell you wut... I was born and raised in San Antonio where I could walk five minutes in any direction and get a carne guisada taco. Let me just say... WOW! I could eat myself out of a pool of this lol Thank you for ANOTHER great recipe, sir!
Thank you guys for all you do. We don't take you guys for granted either. Really respect how much you love your fur babies.

Looks so nummy!! I love this show!
Mr. Kent is a keeper!!!
I dig the new setup Kent, and as always love your recipes but more importantly your energy. You rock man!!
Thanks, Kent. A long time ago I used to get carne guisada tacos at a little taqueria in San Antonio when I was in the Air Force. Haven't had them since I left. I'm going to have to make a batch this weekend.
This looks so wholesome Kent.
Happy New Year Kent and Shannon. I started watching your channel for the recipes but I stay for the dance moves!!! Thank you for your well made videos, have a great new year.
What a great meal. Thank you so much for what you do.👌🤠👍
Kent I can say with out a doubt you are a real one, from the distinction of asada y guisada to the plastic bag for the poblanos, you are simply amazing.
I love listening to you and your commentary, yes I do.
Hi from Syracuse NY brother and family and thank you for sharing your thoughts and adventures in cooking
Reminds me of the carne guisada my wife and I enjoyed when I was stationed at Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas from 1980-1990. Little place called Gema's was the best!
This is a kind of carne guisada I'm unfamiliar with, usually my parents use a chuck roast or an large piece of pork or beef, and cook it with some onions and leaving to steam in a pot with tomato base or sauce to form a stew at the bottom and stirring it every so often so it wouldn't stick to the bottom, although this version looks amazing to try out one day, have a wonderful week Kent
RIP to Miura.....
yeah me too. I have been making carne guisada for about 45 years. I think it depends on which region you might been influenced by younger. I grew up in South Texas and love mainland style, tex mex, sonoran, all of it. Im sure your parents dish was amazing as i am sure Kent's is.
I want your cookbook so bad... Once I get out of this financial bind I'm going to try and squeeze enough together to get one. I've been following you for years. Keep up the awesome cooking... Even when I depressed watching your awesome show puts a little light in my day.
Thank you,
Josh
Mr Rollins thanks for everything you do. You have made me a better cook God bless you
Thank You once again. My mouth is watering.

i live on Padre Island , my friends and i are fishin , drinkin and cookin out on the regular , when we want carne guisada we make the 4 minute drive across the causway and go to a little joint called Taqueria Jalisco , we cant compete with those real Mexican grandmas !!!!
I’ll have to try this! All the years I have cooked and eaten Mexican food here in California (and in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona) I have never heard of this dish called “Guisada”. Always good to learn something new (or old in this case)! Thanks as always and here is to a better new year for all!
I just love your patriotism! And your cooking, of course!
Thank you for being a gentle soul in all the years of … mankind… your the man Kent keep doing you brother🤘🏻👌🏻
Love Kent Rollins definitely need more people like you guys in this world Love the sharp dressed man and the dusty Cowboy Hat so Perfect Recipe looks delicious Thanks Earl
I've been wanting to try this out since you posted the video, finally got around to doing it tonight. We're sitting at about -26° round these parts, but I still went out and fired up the charcoal kettle for the sake of flame grilling the peppers and tomatoes. SO glad I did, that smokey flavour adds so much. Killer recipe all around Kent, as usual. This is definitely going to make it's way into our regular rotation. Thank you very much for all that you do and all the knowledge you pass on.
Your videos bring me joy!
I love all of your videos! The slogan on your apron is truly words to live by. I checked your website in hopes of finding something with that saying to hang in my kitchen. Y'all need to add that to the store!
