Pre-heat FL Studio to 250°F, and leave in for 30-40 minutes until golden brown if you want really crispy hi hats
Servida Music LMAO

lmao thats the key
Quick tip for any starting producers, if you have to do a Db boost of more than 1-2Db on your master when EQing, there’s a problem with your mix, don’t do that, rather go back to your mix and check out what’s not hitting hard enough in that frequency range, maybe add a compressor to something in that range or some saturation etc and check again. Also, when EQing, reduce before you boost, reducing a certain frequency range will boost its counter part range, cleaning up one area and boosting the juicy part. Whereas just boosting the juicy range will give you a nice sound in that range but will leave a lot of mud in other ranges, resulting in ear bleeds
Avation I feel like tutorials aren’t as helpful as having a mentor or one on one
Dude, thanks for the "Limiter before Clipper" tip!
I never really could get my kick hit hard enough using a Clipper alone. Now with a Limiter before the Clipper i got this "crisp-crunchy smack" i always wanted and never quiet achieved.
THANKS!!!
2 other tips people need to know are:
1. Once you feel your mix is how you want it to sound, turn down the master channel volume. The sounds that are way too loud will punch right through the track and you’ll be able to see that after turning down the master channel. Bring the volume back up and everything sounds more level.
2.(If your DAW doesn’t allow you to change your tracks mono/stereo setting, you may need plugins for this).
After you get your mix levelled, change the mono setting to max. From here is where you can see if anything is still too loud or way too quiet. The trick with this tip is that Mono makes all of your mixes sound bad, but if you can get the whole track to sound good on Mono, your track will most likely sound good any where.
*note that you should not do both of these thing at once.
Doing so will over complicate your mix.
NEVER mess with your Master volume
Marc Pittman why not?
Every single person who has said not to mess with the master track never gave a reason not to. I’ll send a link that goes through the reason why you should.

The video is really long but the part that I’m talking about is around 35:44.
There’s multiple ways to mix, and maybe your way of mixing is better, but this way just works really for me. I don’t like mixing and I don’t know how to tell the difference in a mix because I don’t try. These tricks just make my mix sound professional without any effort.
You don’t have to take these tips, but it doesn’t hurt to take into consideration.😁😁
My apologies - I was skimming thru all these comments and missed when you said that you eventually bring the Master back up. I def use your mono trick, but will try the Master one today
Marc Pittman no stress.😁
RED ALERT
KBeaZy ^ 😭😂
K beasy on the beat
Upload some videos !!
Someone send this to sharpe
Shady 🤣
Hell nah
Bro I made a video called "trash beat syndrome" and SO MANY people commented "Sharpe type beat" hahaha
He needs a tutorial on using a scale that isn't C major more then anything
why? His mixing is fine lmao
It`s always nice to see how others are working! Thx for sharing your process bro! 🔥👌🌊😉
HOW TO SQUASH ALL TRANSIENTS IN YOUR MIX (100%WORKING 2018).
"MIX" AT +20dB AND SOFT CLIPPER GANG
actually, this mix doesn't sound really clean for me, don't like high freq clap and low freq hi-hats, feels really muddy
Oleg Smirnov it's cause he hasn't really leveled/mixed anything down which results in a really muddy result. After you level everything you typically want everything to be peaking around -6/-3 db and then ease everything in the master. Everything depends though and in the end if it sounds good, keep it
This isnt a mix to me xd
I get you
This is a good tutorial for beginners/intermediate. Not to discredit or disagree with MAI but you can get some amazing results in your mix through Maximus and the FL stock limiter! luv u MAI, keep inspiring the youth.
Maximus is the goat
Maximus is the best stock method
Maximus yea but don't use limiter too much mate
Like Mai said if you don't know how to use it then don't, but if you do know how to use it then it's one of the most beneficial plugins. FL limiter is very useful in the right hands, you just need knowledge to get around the unnecessary compression. Mai is clearly stating its not for beginners/intermediate, but is in fact more useful than 3rd party mastering plugins (with the right settings). Very useful plugin, learn more about your DAW.
Its not a good tutorial to anyone cuz he cant mix ;)

mai love your vids please make emo/sad trap vid
This whole time I thought I clicked the “how to make melodies like a gawd” vid and I was just thinking this dude doesn’t know what he’s talking about😂😂
it makes more sense to use the limiter at the bottom of your chain, cus when its at the top - it squashes your sound and theres nothing to clip except the EQ boosts and IMO should be used to gain up the sound after the soft clipper...just my 2 cents
THANK GOD. finally a six-minute vid on the basics of how to mix every vid I watch is like 20 mins.
You can put the standard limiter above 0 db off at your audio settings, just go to options, audio setting, and click on the buffer length panel, you can select a box that will disable the standard limiter
Shouldn't we mix arnd -6dB and then add the master plugins?
I'm just confused you almost maxed out during mixing....So many people suggest so many different things...what should I do?
Always have -6DB from what I heard.
How did you change the theme of fl studio? Those blue bars in the mixer looks dope
bruh ive been trying to figure that out too. I cant find anything
Someone reply back I’m
Tryna know
huehman its a modified version on fl if you want to get it pls send me a dem on instagram @prod.by_donttrustm
@@tripzz3013 damn I want it too!
prod. by Tripzz which ones do you have
so does your chain in order on the master track go:
1 limiter
2 EQ
3 clipper
?
I've waited a video of this kind for so long, honestly thanks so much Mai
That melody is next level
you want to make sure you’re peaking -6db without any fx on the master and then limit (or maximize) at -6db. threaded processing wise, i always put the limiter at the very bottom and compress before limiting. i guess it depends on genre though. but hey. i do things entirely differently 💀
Thanks! I usually dont even bother with the master unless im making a drop or cutting off highs and lows. Now i have a better understanding of what to do there! subbed.
Lets go, long awaited video.
yeah this will be gold for alot of people, nice work g
This is the best tutorial I've seen this year. Thank you so much
Keep this in your ears folks , a mix can be mastered with these 5 crucial things with no doubt :
1 - you must can see the sound!! there s no way you can master untill you see it!
2 - you need a multiple output sound card with minimal latency .
3 - you need to understand acoustics and also threat your room with the necessary acoustic compounds.
4 - you need to properly equalize and know enviroment characters en tone differences.
5 - you need good flatrate speakers and correct setup and measurement of your listening spot etc.
in a home studio , you will only reach about 70 - 80 percent of mastering and mixing , this other 30 percent is only accomplishible with threatment of your room and the 5 issues i ve written above. there is no way you can accomplish without...or you must be a very high intelligent in pschychologics. i am a very extreme mastering engineer , i can do everything with the simplest soundcard and on the simplest headphones or any sound device ..it costed me 5 years on only equalizing and mastering individual instruments ..so i know what i am talking about.. just dont loose the faith .
So ain't no one gonna talk about how fire and catchy the beat was?
Is FL studio the best to make beats or are there any other programs you can use? I'm learning how to make beats myself just wanted to know what's the best to use
It's all the same. FL is the easiest to start with though
Sharpe needs this way more than any of us do
Damn that was easily explained I’ve been trying to figure out what the main things for mixing and mastering was, but also how did you change the colors of your eq channels ?
Thanks a lot man
Bro y’all are the best
Keep doin yo thang lil bro ✊🏾
I swear to god, I fucking love Mai HAHA
step 1; put three soundgoodizers on the *master* *track*
*eight
Also, step 1-89
Thanks man another tip in the bag
Nice and simple tricks dude. What headphones you monitoring your music with btw?
Clean tutorial habibi
Saved my life! Thank you! Had to subscribe
How would you go about leveling the melody and the drums so that they complement one another??? Do you have to lower the melodies dB any or just leave it as is?
bro I bought both your drum kits only because of wondagirl 808 and it don't contain it?
OH SHIT MY FAVOURITE RUclipsR JUSS UPLOADED
LK Nxte 19 years old aspiring producer. Would be much appreciated if you could show some love on my beats and sub if you fw it. Thank you
*JUST not JUSS
Thanks mai! Very cool!
That beat was smackin 🚫🧢
I’m glad I started watching tutorials again
This help a lot good looks mai! 🔥
You can make fl hard clip above 0 dB in the audio settings it’s a box you can tick below the buffer size options
So what would be the perfect mixing for pyrex type beats?
Helped me a lot man good job. Still learning and this added a lot to me. Keep it up fire beat btw!
How you get your Fl to look like that?
Great vid lol I’ve been asking for this
Will your drum pack work in other DAWs? I use logic but your drums sound extremely clear and crisp.
Anish Jain yes they will!
This is really good and all, this also works Perfectly Fine and their is nothing wrong with this method of mastering.
But Ozone is an all in one Mastering Vst that gets an even better Master. For those new and experienced producers who never tried Ozone, If you Try it, trust me, you will never want to come back to this method. It also cuts the time to master you beats in half.
Good Luck.... Happy Beat Making
Thanks man, I just bought neutron 2 and ozone 8 the other day
@@brandondavis1227 No Problem. Ain't It good? I absolutely fell in love with the plugin.
i fucking love this vid, taught me so much
when i turn it up in fabfilter the low end distorts and sounds horrible, what do i do?
this dude a saint. now ill be making killer tunes like a fucking ninja
Thanks bro from brazil ✌🏾
You reacted to my song! Appreciate the words man
What’s the skin you use for you FL it looks clean asf!
Thanks for teaching me to mix and master... LIKE A GOD!!!
Hi there, im currently mixing a record and i put a soft clipper ( T racks soft slipper to be exact with gain at 3.0 and slope -8.0) on my master bus and the mix sounds clean and loud apart from when i add my 808 into the mix. The 808 distorts really bad and causes my hit hat to sound muffled. Any tips. Thanks
In FL studio why my music sounds so quiet in comparison to other tracks when they are peaking at the same volume in FL studio after mastering ???
Please help me
but.... the master was clipping like cray-zee? I´m no pro, but isn´t the master volume suppose to stay UNDER 0 decibel?
Dope tutorial and track bro preciate it.
Watched the first 30 seconds and you have my dying lmao bro
Why did you stop doing the - *Asking Random people to freestyle on MY Beats* Videos?? I've been waiting for more of them because theyre so dope and funny
Thanks man, it was very useful !
How long did it take you to get decent at fl studio
Mai, how did you get that skin applied to your FL? Are you in FL 20?
ClayProducedIt hes in fl 20 he modiefied his fl
How you made that fl studio dark theme?

Bro thank you can't wait to start my next beat
That OZ Sample - Fye
That fruity soft clipper be the sauce. Alot of people dont know about that
I’m so hype you made it bruh! 🙏🏽🔥
Preciate it homie.
Howd he change the colours of fl studio. Everything looks sick asf!
I'm just curious. Why not just use Maximus?
What headphones are you using?
which fl studio do you use fl 12 or 20
You are a legend
Really enjoyed this tutorial, Thank you!
1. fruity limiter, all envelope shit off. turn up the ceiling to set how loud it can go, and turn the gain to make it louder
2. parametric eq 2, up ur hi's and lil bitty mids. (i like to turn down my sub bass JUST A TAD so it isnt too muddy w/ compression)
3. fruity soft clipper in slit 10, makes sure you arent clipping on master & gives the lil sauce
I'm working on getting the beat and my vocals right. It seams like allot of the beats I get, the volume is jacked way up, it's fine, I always turn it town about 5 db.
When I record vocals I want to repeat my hook that I already recorded. But Its not aligning with the next line where the beat starts. Can I slide the beat or do I have to re record my vocals for every hook because They dont line up with the instrumental?
King Kota go to your magnet 🧲 tool then click on it and a list should drop down and click NONE then zoom in on your hook , select it , press ctrl+b then select and slide your hook into place . Make sure to zoom in when you are doing it and when you’re done turn the magnet 🧲 tool / snapping tool back to BEAT . 🙏🏽
@@keenancoyne8996 thank u so much bro!
This transformed my beat.....thanks for the tips man....my beat is banging like fire
Hi mate, can you send me a list or order in which to put your plugins, when mastering? Thanks
Banger alert
Just bought the fuze and ur 2nd drum kit love your shit bro
Nice bro what's your Instagram
JulyTooFly killjimmyx
Finally someone breaks it down simply :)
thanks i learned alot master mai
Thanks for the info chief 💚
Life Saver
Mai how much do you sell your beats for?
Nice tutorial my guy
Incredible 💪🏾
Be careful with that SSL eq on your master, it has clipping built in so when you hit the red like you are here you are adding distortion to your mix.
THX SO MUSCH MAI
You dont put your kick and 808 in mono?
Big up dawg, this really helped me. Bless
