I just started feeding this. I mix with regular store bought and ad a little meat to make it not so expensive. But it's worth the money. My dog has cancer and had no shine, her coat actually shines a bit now, and she's eating better.

@@treasuretrovel3816 well said. I am doing rotational feeding with my dog, but I just stick to 80% -85% meat kibble, and low carb as my puppy becomes hyper with higher carb. I calculate carbs in all kibble. My puppy eats kibble twice a day and wet evening but hoping to switch from wet to air-dried raw soon. He gets freeze-dried raw as a treat and as a topper on his kibble.

Perfect timing I just got my first 2 bags of food last night. I was impressed to see every patch is tested. You can smell the salmon when you open the bag. My dogs loved it. I purchased mine from White Dog Bone, and found it less expensive than the other foods I was feeding my dog.

While it may be considered a bit more pricey compared to other brands, I firmly believe that the cost is absolutely worth it when you consider the remarkable health benefits and the potential to improve my dogs' quality of life and extend their lifespan.

I understand that this is brand of food is expensive, I would just like to highlight the fact that as a dog owner I prioritize my animals health and this food has worked amazing for us. The price of a 20lb bag is better than alot of subscription based meals. Do what works for you.
Don't leave nasty reviews just because you cannot allocate the funds to feed your pet the diet that's most beneficial to their health.

Carna4 is a great Canadian food made with quality ingredients that I trust. I've been feeding my Cleo Carna4 for more than two and a half years now in combination with fresh toppings. Her weight is perfect, her energy is high and her coat is shiny, and she just had two beautiful and healthy puppies! Carbohydrates are calculated by taking the percentage of protein + fat + moisture + ash and subtracting by 100%. Looking at a bag of goat Carna4 goat, the carbohydrate percentage is 41%, with ash of 5%. That’s actually on the high side. Orijen Tundra has 16% carbohydrates. Surprised the owner wasn’t sure when asked carb percentage and later said carbohydrates were in the 20s percentage wise. Hmmm

CARNA4 is amazing! I'm not sure what I would do with out it. I have a very dog thats picky/sensitive eater and this is literally they only food I can get her to eat, and that I find to feel most comfortable with the ingredients I see. I've tried completely raw before but it didn't seem to do okay with her tummy, so I include raw treats (which in small amounts she seems to do okay) but anyways I'm so grratful for carna4! And they're so nutrient dense that a little literally goes a long way!❤ I love how passionate she is about the food they have created.

Supplemented Carna4 years ago with homemade food after a bad experience with Orijen. Now I feed it to my puppy and may begin farmers dog with carna4. I have car payments that still cost more than my dogs food. And I wouldn’t trade my dog in for another dog so the cost factor isn’t a factor. Do you have car payments more than $200 a month? This food is not that expensive compared to other necessities. It’s only expensive compared to other crap kibbles.

  • @abigailoneill5367

I’d use carne4 if they had a senior formula. I used it on my 17 yr old, she ate it but had to stop because it was hard on her kidneys. I had to switch to a food that uses synthetic vitamins. Freaking out, but saw my dogs improvement with a senior formula.
After much guilt and thought came to the conclusion to be kind to myself. Many good Mothers feed baby formula to their human babies. I breastfed all but my twins which I had to supplement with formula because they were preemies. My twins are just as healthy as my other two kids. I would never think twice about questioning a Mother feeding a synthetic baby formula, as they all are synthetic breast milk. In a perfect world we wouldn’t need synthetic vitamins, but even myself eating a whole food plant bast diet, relies on organic protein powder when cycling and it has synthetic vitamins. Just a thought.

I was very impressed from what I heard in this video. Was looking for a cat food to replace the kibble I was feeding them. So I went to Carna4's website and looked for information about meat sourcing.
Went to Q & A and was surprised to see this as the answer.
"Q: Where does your meat come from?
A: We use only clean, fresh, meat that is from a Canadian Food Inspection Agency inspected facility and from animals processed for human consumption in federally inspected facilities."
In my opinion, this answer is too vague. And decided not to buy. I'm feeding my two cats Dr. Marty's Freeze Dried Raw unhydrated as a snack (kibble replacement). Only very little a couple of times per day because it's quite costly. No longer free feeding. I don't agree with free feeding. They're fed regular meals twice a day. Glad to be feeding them a much healthier food than Carna4 as the kibble replacement.
    And they both love it!!!
Also purchased Small Batch Freeze Dried Raw Beef Bites and just received yesterday. Want to see if they'll like that one, too. It's a little less costly than Dr. Marty's, but not by much. If they like, will probably feed them that sometimes, too.
A less costly alternative would be Open Farm Freeze Dried. I didn't go with that because one of the ingredients is a type of clay that I'm not sure about. But, in my opinion, it would be better than Carna4. I do feed my cats Open Farm Rustic Blend for their meals. Transitioning to raw and/or gently cooked. I mix those into the Open Farm meal so they get used to some raw or some gently cooked as well.
You can decide for yourself about Carna4. I don't recommend it.

I no this video is older now but other people might stumble upon this video and comments. I’ve been doing so much research on synthetic vitamins and I’m now more conscious of what I’m feeding my dog and myself when it comes to fake vitamins and how toxic they can be! Sooooo many kibbles have them even some high end premium brands, I looked up what kibbles have no synthetic vitamins and the only ones I could find is Carna4 and Natures Logic, I decided to try Carna4 since it’s a more limited ingredient type of food. But I’m getting more convinced that these synthetic vitamins are causing deficiencies in my dog because my dog will eat a lot of her kibble, still eats grass, still has some allergies, in her ears and itchy areas of her body, not as bad since I’ve been able to manage it more with diet and wiping my dog down after walks since she has food and seasonal allergies, so synthetic vitamins may be causing immune issues which can cause allergies, not just the foods themselves, so I’m giving Carna4 a shot and I hope it goes well without any allergy issues🙏🐶 thank you for all the info I love getting all of this from the maker herself!❤

i know a big key topic here is synthetics which is great. i'm not entirely against synthetics but i do plan on having a kibble on hand just in case. trying to figure out whether stella and chewy raw mix or carna4 is better for my 8 week old puppy

Interesting. Do you provide the sources of your ingredients? I'm mainly interested in know if the beef is grass-fed, pasture raised, if the chicken cage-free, pasture raised and if the salmon or other fish wild-caught. I see your passion for Organic so I'd think this would be so. Do you have documentation that certifies, at the very least that the animals are humanely treated?
I don't agree with the recommendation on the package to free feed. Recently, no more kibble and no more free feeding.
Also, I've senn an infographic showing best to worst types of foods for feeding our pets. Air dried is next to last. (Kibble is last.)
Still, this is a very good alternative for people who are currently feeding Kibble because it's all they can afford. I understand because we all want the best for our furbabies and we do the best we can with what we can afford. Still better than kibble and I like that your using real foods.
The reason that I asked those questions in the beginning is because I'll consider it if it meets my criteria. (I won't feed them foods with ingredients sourced from factory farmed animals. The conditions and the food they're fed and the way that they're treated are horrific!)
To get my two cats Cookie and Scamper off kibble (they get wet food also) I've been feeding them unhydated freeze-dried raw, and only a little a couple a couple of times a day. But it's very expensive and really need to find something that costs less because I can't afford. It wouldn't be their only food. I'm currently transitioning them to raw complete meals. But I provide a "kibble substitute" for little snacks since they're addicted to having some dry food as well.

With the big DCM scare and foods made with peas, lentils etc as cheap fillers why does this company use them also? What's the difference if it's sprouts? I pay a lot for this food too. I use it as a topper but I guess it's probably time to just make ALL of their food. Much safer than this mass produced extruded, baked stuff...just stay way from cow meat..they are adding MRNA to it now...

    • @lollybabe08

DCM is not related to peas and lentils- pls research. What is more important is the percentage of carbs in general, Low-carb dog food with 80-85% meat will also have a low percentage of carbs (lentils, peas, potatoes, grains).

    • @potraf26

Not to mention a recipe is labeled as "goat" or "duck" and come to find that the goat also has 2 or 3 types of fish and the duck has pork liver . My cat was literally throwing it out of the bowl which she has never done to a food she disliked before. It was that offensive to her I guess lol.
